Is anyone else looking forward to seeing their family for the first time in months tomorrow? 🥳

We are Smile

We haven’t seen DH’s family since last July and we are so excited Grin

Surely we are not the only ones?!

My family is 500 miles away in Scotland so no change for me tomorrow

Figgygal · 28/03/2021 18:17

But enjoy the reunion

hmm, well not us. My parents live 5 hours away, my brother lives overseas, DH's mother is 8 hours away & his sister is 4 hours away. Tomorrow is work & school so... no.

Delatron · 28/03/2021 18:20

No because they live 300 miles away.

skeggycaggy · 28/03/2021 18:20

I can't wait until a) overnight stays and b) meeting another household indoors is permitted.

HazeyJaneII · 28/03/2021 18:20

My sister is abroad, so sadly I won't be able to see her for a while yet.
We'd like to try and see dh's dad soon, but it's tricky because of ds being medically vulnerable.

Hope you and your dh have a lovely time with his family. It is going to be lovely when we can see more of the people we love.

vimpto · 28/03/2021 18:20

We are 150 miles away and DH's parents live in Greater Manchester, so they have only ever had three weeks out of lockdown, last July. It has been very hard not even being able to meet up for a walk, due to the distance.

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 28/03/2021 18:21

No, mine live in ROI.

Echobelly · 28/03/2021 18:22

I'll admit we've seen my parents and ILs in their gardens a few times this year, but I will in a few weeks see my sister who I haven't see since October because she's moved about 50 miles away, so looking forward to that.

garlictwist · 28/03/2021 18:22

My parents live in the next street and my sister at the bottom of our hill so I've seen them throughout outdoors. Must be lovely to have a reunion though!

yes, my parents are in Manchester too. But I am about 300 miles away.
BackforGood · 28/03/2021 18:25

Sadly, Wales won't let us in yet

RichardMarxisinnocent · 28/03/2021 18:26

No, because they're 5 hours away. I am looking forward to seeing friends I haven't seen since a brief meeting in December, but not until next weekend because they're at work during the week.

AmelieTaylor · 28/03/2021 18:26

I hope you enjoy the day. Hopefully it will be nice weather where you are so you can spend it outside.

Do they realise you're meant to be Socially Distanced so no hugging etc? I'm not sure a lot of people have taken that in board

Toottootdrivers · 28/03/2021 18:28

Good for you OP! I've been really lucky as I'm in a support bubble with my mum, so have been able to visit and stay over. But looking forward to an Easter get together with my brother next weekend and then garden drinks with the girls a few days later. Also booked a farm visit and due to go away to a cottage for a couple of weeks (Boris permitting). It's lovely to fill up my calendar!! I hope you enjoy every minute of tomorrow!

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 28/03/2021 18:29

Many people will be in work and the outdoor meeting isn’t much different to have been able to meet for walks bar it’s now six not two. Plus the weather may not be on side for many and there’s still no indoor socialising so a long drive could be wasted.

dementedpixie · 28/03/2021 18:31

No
My inlaws are 330 odd miles away
I've seen my mum a couple of times outdoors but the weather will be crap here

DancesWithDaffodils · 28/03/2021 18:32

The outdoor meeting in gardens/two households is a massive improvement for those of us who have families a fair distance away.
Enjoy tomorrow, vimpto, were doing the same next weekend, and I cant wait!

Bunnybigears · 28/03/2021 18:32

No meeting for us we are all at work plus our family are hundreds of miles away and the advise is still to stay local

skeggycaggy · 28/03/2021 18:33

You are looking for a pretty small subset of responses really, from people who are far enough away not to have been meeting for "exercise" on a regular basis, but are close enough to be able to travel for the day to see each other.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 28/03/2021 18:33

Work, school, weather, distance and the capacity of our bladders all conspire against us.

Bunnybigears · 28/03/2021 18:33

@DancesWithDaffodils I thought we still had to stay local?

ilovebagpuss · 28/03/2021 18:33

Not tomorrow as we have school and work but as soon as the weekends improve we hope to go to visit in laws in their garden. We haven’t seen them since last summer so it will be lovely.
Hope you have a great day.

SmednotaSmoo · 28/03/2021 18:35

I was going to be (parents live about 30 miles away, so definitely not in “stay at home” order) but I’ve come down with a cold (not cv) and even at 2m distance I’m not going to risk it. Will do after a few days on Friday though.
