Is anyone else looking forward to seeing their family for the first time in months tomorrow? 🥳

We are Smile

We haven’t seen DH’s family since last July and we are so excited Grin

No, not in my case. My family are in another part of the country and I'm working tomorrow. In any case I hadn't seen any of them for ages before Covid.
However I hope those who've been waiting for this enjoy it.

SmednotaSmoo · 28/03/2021 18:36

Also half contemplating doing the ten hours driving in a day it would take to meet up with the inlaws.

PicsInRed · 28/03/2021 18:37

Mine are all on the other side of the world, didn't see them last year, and looking less likely to see them this year either.

We’re not technically allowed to because we have 5 children so automatically break the rule of 6 although wouldn’t if we lived about a 3 hours drive away in Scotland. Makes sense.

PotteringAlong · 28/03/2021 18:38

Nope, school day tomorrow for us - don’t break up until Thursday!

Norwaydidnthappen · 28/03/2021 18:38

Also worth noting the stay at home order ends tomorrow so you can’t legally be challenged if you travel however much they want to plug the ‘stay local’ thing- it is just a guideline.

GetTheStartyParted · 28/03/2021 18:39

I can't wait! The weather forecast says it will be sunny and warm so a cup of tea with my little sister is the plan!

I haven't seen her since I dropped medication off to her just after Christmas. She's pregnant and not well enough to meet for a walk. So excited to catch up, even though we won't have much to talk about as we message every day a we haven't been anywhere or done anything.

Enjoy your catch ups, those who can & I hope the rest of you don't have to wait too much longer.

Wigeon · 28/03/2021 18:39

Yes! Haven’t seen my mum in person for 5 months and going tomorrow - she’s an hour drive away, so definitely falls within the “too far when the rules were “stay at home/ local exercise only” but easy to do as a day trip.

Also haven’t seen PILs (different town) or SIL and BIL (different town again) for ages the same reason but seeing them next week too. 🎉

That must be so hard. I'm sorry.

But you’re allowed to meet up as 2 households, eg with your parents, and that can be more than 6 people? (Assuming you’re in England).

You can meet one other household. It's 6 people from any number of households, or any number of people from two households.

Not tomorrow as DC at school until Thursday but we are going for a picnic on Friday with my parents halfway between us (1.5 hrs away) and very very excited. Missed them so much, DH is working overseas and can’t get back at the moment and we can’t get to where he is and I’ve struggled a lot the last few weeks I just need my mum!

EyeDrops · 28/03/2021 18:43

I'm really excited OP. Both mine and DH's parents live a 30 min drive away, so too far really too have seen 1-1 for exercise - this will be the first time bar Christmas day that we've been able to see either set as a family, with our kids too, since last summer. We're absolutely buzzing about it!!!

Guidance is still there for a reason though and hopefully many will follow it so that spread is limited between areas although I highly doubt it given how many don’t stick to the actual rules.
BikeRunSki · 28/03/2021 18:43

Nope, my mum is still 250 miles away.

dementedma · 28/03/2021 18:44

Nope. In Scotland here, rest of the family arent. No idea when I will see them again, particularly the ones overseas

Mumoftwoinprimary · 28/03/2021 18:45

We are “far enough but close enough” but not meeting until Tuesday. (Dd has her first session back of her sport tomorrow plus the weather is due to be glorious!) First time since July.

In laws are also “far enough but close enough” but unfortunately they are in Wales and we are in England. Am vaguely wondering if there are any parks which straddle the England / Wales border where we can each stay on our own “side”!

SplendidSuns1000 · 28/03/2021 18:46

Yes! I've been babysitting for my 3 darling nieces and nephew (all one family and I'm their childcare bubble with regular negative testing and covid jabs before anyone tries to stone me to death).

But it'll be lovely to see my other In law siblings and their children, tomorrow we'll be seeing Dh's brother, his wife and their children and we've even made them a covered area in the garden to play in. I'm thrilled to see them but still so wary.

supadupapupascupa · 28/03/2021 18:49

Yes, my father and step mum are coming tomorrow for tea in the garden. They live an hour away. Theyre going to see their new grandson up the road too for the first time :-)

NiceTwin · 28/03/2021 18:51

No, mine live 100's of miles away and the advice is to still stay local.
The reunion will have to wait, sadly.

Itsalonghaul · 28/03/2021 18:52

We are seeing SIL and family at the weekend (Easter) Parents are waiting for second dose because they will not be protected until they have it, so a while longer yet!

Itsalonghaul · 28/03/2021 18:52

Enjoy your day op!!!!

BashfulClam · 28/03/2021 18:52

No I live in Scotland so no meet-up yet.

Kingoftheroad · 28/03/2021 18:52

@dementedma

I’m the same my son and his partner are in England, so it’s a no for me also. Very different situation
