We haven’t seen DH’s family since last July and we are so excited Grin

Enjoy it everyone 😃 it’s been a long time coming!!
It’s not our turn yet unfortunately (Scotland). We have a 5 month old here who I can’t wait to show off to friends and family 😭❤️ No support bubble as family all still working around people during covid and we didn’t feel it was safe! DH works offshore so it’s been a very long year for me being home alone heavily pregnant and furloughed then alone with a newborn for 4 weeks at a time 😅

Notanotherhun · 28/03/2021 19:49

Do we have to stay local still? My parents live 300 miles away. Sad

Sadsiblingatsea · 28/03/2021 19:50

I can’t believe that you needed this useless government’s permission to fulfill the human right to see those you care about.

Ahhh enjoy it OP! Grin

My parents have been my childcare and support bubble since they were allowed but we couldn't see them at all during the first lockdown and it was so hard, so I can only image how excited you are for tomorrow!

It less about needing 'permission', than about trying to do the right thing, in a public health crisis, to curtail the spread of a highly contagious virus.

Oh do fuck off.

I’ve not seen them as they are both CEV & I don’t want to risk them getting c19. A quote from my mothers doctor; ‘if you catch this, you will die’

But Thanks for adding to the guilt of not seeing them since August. Seriously, ta.

crossstitchingnana · 28/03/2021 20:04

I haven't seen mine for over a year as they live so far away. So, tomorrow makes fuck all difference to me.

Dowser · 28/03/2021 20:04

Enjoy your reunions

It’s advised to stay local but it’s not a legal requirement. If you can get there and back in a day and you can square it with your conscience then go for it. However if you’re 300 miles away then that’s a bit of a stretch for a day trip, and assuming you’re not eligible for a support bubble with them then you can’t stay overnight.

We’re planning to go and stay in a holiday cottage close to my DPILs for a few nights in April - that might be your best bet.

Delatron · 28/03/2021 20:12

We’ve decided to just wait and see them properly with overnight stay in May.

underneaththeash · 28/03/2021 20:16

I'm seeing my mum and partner on Easter Sunday for the first time in months and yes, really looking forward to it.

kittensarecute · 28/03/2021 20:23

I'll be seeing my family next Sunday for a BBQ and not a chance in hell will we be social distancing.

simbobs · 28/03/2021 20:24

Won't make any difference to me. All family are in a part of the country to which we can't travel, and we couldn't stay overnight. Too far away to just chat in a garden.

megletthesecond · 28/03/2021 20:26

No. Mine are two hours away. Might see one of them in a month.

Mumoftwoinprimary · 28/03/2021 20:28
@Mumoftwoinprimary sorry my heads not plugged in they're not letting people in or out are they. do you know when that's going to change?
At least two weeks according to an article by BBC news. Sadly too late for us as our Easter holidays will be over by then. Although the kids have a duathlon near the border at the end of April so maybe they will be able to see us there....

weebarra · 28/03/2021 20:34

Scotland here, so not yet. Miss them heaps.

Pebbles16 · 28/03/2021 20:37

Hope you have a lovely time. Still several more weeks or so for us

AvonCallingBarksdale · 28/03/2021 20:44

Enjoy your reunions. DM is in our support bubble so we’ve seen her throughout. My aunt and uncle and cousins live 10 mins away so we’ve been seeing them socially distanced anyway. Would have been so hard not to have been able to see my DM.

Margo34 · 28/03/2021 20:44

I'm seeing my parents tomorrow and cannot wait! I'm taking my baby daughter along with me to meet them, they've only met once (for a socially distant non-cuddle baby viewing) at 2 weeks old and baby is 6 months next week. Needless to say they are some very excited grandparents!

smellyolddog · 28/03/2021 20:45

Hope you enjoy the day, all of ours live miles away and we both have to work and have our DS home on bleeding Easter holidays 🤦‍♀️ is love to go see my parents instead.

Ouchyhurt · 28/03/2021 20:48

I was but DS1(12) has a cold so we won't now. We all had covid 5 weeks ago (well the other 3 of us tested positive but we didn't test him as he has asd and wouldn't tolerate it and as we all had it, we assumed his symptoms were covid). He has no cough or temp so guessing its just a cold but won't risk it.

Feeling fed up tonight!

PattyPan · 28/03/2021 20:48

Nope because I have to work. Trying to get time off is proving very difficult for me at the moment Sad Have a great time OP. I think I would wait until Tuesday though - apparently going to be warmer and sunnier than Monday.

MirandaWest · 28/03/2021 20:55

I’m looking forward to it eventually but it won’t be tomorrow.

Haven’t seen DHs son who’s up in Scotland since January last year, haven’t seen my sister since December 2019 and haven’t seen my mum and dad since September last year.

Iwantmychairback · 28/03/2021 20:59

Can’t go tomorrow, but planning to see parents at Easter. As they are in Manchester, we saw them a couple of times in July, then on Christmas Day.
Will be a big thing to see them and I know they are really looking forward to it.

vimpto · 28/03/2021 21:00

@DancesWithDaffodils

The outdoor meeting in gardens/two households is a massive improvement for those of us who have families a fair distance away. Enjoy tomorrow, vimpto, were doing the same next weekend, and I cant wait!
Thank you, yes it’s a huge step in the right direction for us!

We have both taken the day off work, for those wondering!
