We haven’t seen DH’s family since last July and we are so excited Grin

We've seen my mum and dad throughout (support bubble) but I'm really looking forward to seeing my brother again and having an Easter Egg hunt in my parents garden.

PILs are a bit too far for a garden visit so we will see them in May hopefully.

MarshaBradyo · 28/03/2021 21:03

I wish but closed o/s quarantine means it’s still a long way away

camelfinger · 28/03/2021 21:04

Ours are either too far away, or close enough that we’ve managed to fit in some exercise/doorstep visit at Xmas. And MIL is in our bubble. We plan to meet in Central London in the next few weeks, which isn’t local for my parents and requires public transport.

Most people I know have either lived close enough to have somehow crossed paths in the last few months, or live too far away from each other.

No because I don't have any family other than my mum and my brother. My mum and I are bubbled and my brother and I aren't particularly close.

SoddingWeddings · 28/03/2021 21:08

Another no - my parents are 600 miles away in Scotland. The in laws are 70 miles away in the same county. We both work,
so can't pop a 140m round trip very easily, and FIL will not come out of shielding until well after his second jab (his choice)

MajesticWhine · 28/03/2021 21:47

I'm going to see my family this week for first time since October. It's a nearly 3 hour drive so it's quite far just for the day but it will be worth it.

ikeairgin · 28/03/2021 21:52

No - after a year of lockdown our remaining parent had a fall and was taken into hospital, where the care appears to have been somewhat lacking. Being unable to visit them until this weekend we were shocked that someone who went in as a precaution and was delayed discharge as we were waiting for thier care assesment has now deteriorated from a UTI to now nil by mouth, on morphine and in end of life "care" Until Friday they were talking to us on the phone - by Friday we asked to speak to a ward sister as they were confused and we were told there was nothing wrong

I'm shocked

We were so close to being able to see them again

ikeairgin · 28/03/2021 21:53

I'm home with the kids and my Hubby's in with his relative

MajesticWhine · 28/03/2021 21:57

Sorry to hear that @ikeairgin Sad

bakingdemon · 28/03/2021 22:11

My parents live 200 miles away and PIL 400 miles away. Not for us.

PrincessNutNuts · 28/03/2021 22:54

We're working tomorrow, our families are both at a distance, and they haven't had both jabs yet. (One elderly relatives has.)

But on the bright side thanks to Brexit my in laws might soon be coming to stay with us for several months so that'll be nice.

I’ve just checked the guidelines after reading this thread. It doesn’t say to stay local, it says we should minimise the number of journeys where possible. Very different. My parents are coming here in a couple of days travelling here and back in a day even though they live 2 hours away. We haven’t seen them since the summer.

My parents and brother are a support bubble for my 85 year old Grandma. I live with my fiance in a separate household and we are the support bubble for my Nanny.

We are usually a tight knit group but have been divided in half since November with the exception of Xmas Day where we had lunch with each group at opposite ends of the table.

I have been able to meet my parents/brother for exercise but my Grandma has no mobility so she is the only member of my family I haven’t been able to see at all. She is also frustrated that she hasn’t been able to see anyone because she can’t exercise.

It’s her birthday on Wednesday, the weather looks fantastic and we have booked the time off work to throw her a surprise afternoon tea party with all of us there, thanks to the 2 households rule. I can’t wait to see her and I can’t wait to see how happy it will make her.

My to be in laws however are a 4 hour drive away. My poor other half hasn’t seen them since August. We will be going for a long weekend stay as soon as overnight stays are allowed!

PrincessNutNuts · 28/03/2021 23:33

That sounds lovely @user1471548941. I hope you all have a fantastic time. CakeSmile

Yes, seeing my parents for the first time since early sept at a glamorous service station about an hour away for both sides. Was supposed to see them at Christmas but was in level 4 so stayed home alone. Christmas edible presents might just still be in date!

We are taking a Christmas hamper too! Just a shame we can’t drink!

Same. DM is 250 miles away, she lives alone. Havn’t seen her or my PiL since rye very beginning of August last year, 8 months ago.
gollymissdolly · 29/03/2021 09:49

No. We live in Scotland and still have travel restrictions. My DD lives 50 miles away and we've seen her and her DH once since August.

Tiredmum100 · 29/03/2021 10:03

I live in Wales, as do my parents who I have luckily seen all through lock down as they provide my child care so I and dh have been able to go to work. I haven't seen my sister since September as she lives over 500 miles away in Scotland. I can not wait to see her. When that will be I still don't know. 😕😢

@vimpto law changing to guidance doesn’t make things any safer. It just avoid a fine. You shouldn’t be visiting any relatives that aren’t local unless you want to potentially put others at risk.

No one is being put at risk, but thanks for your comment. Have a lovely day in the sunshine ☀️
