My baby is trying to kill me

They have to sleep at some point right??? I keep telling myself this. Just a little but longer and then he HAS to fall asleep.

But he's still looking up at me wide eyed and screaming if I have the audacity to try and put him down.

We went for a drive, and he snored peacefully in his car seat until we stopped at which point when he just resumed said awakeness.

Have now resigned myself to the fact that he may actually be trying to finish me. I'm not sure of his motives yet.

What kind of cot / crip?

Could it be silent reflux?

Try raising the head end of his cot, Just so its slightly higher, Raise it at the floor, with books or something similar

TheSmallAssassin · 28/03/2021 02:28

You got me!

ChattyMc · 28/03/2021 02:31

He suffers with trapped wind every now and then.

Have tried infacol, cycling legs, baby massage, warm bath. Nothing is soothing him tonight.

I remember trying to reason with my 5 week old - I explained that Mummy might die if she got no sleep. Didn't work!

somethingwittynotshitty · 28/03/2021 02:34

Didn't die. I think...

SquizzaMama · 28/03/2021 03:19

My DS had really bad colic. Against all advice from “helpful” friends, I let him sleep in an upright Chicco baby bouncer from W4-W11. Helped him so much!

Have you considered colic / reflux?

Baby carrier - so you can crack on with things?

SquizzaMama · 28/03/2021 03:21

Sorry, posted too soon. We switched to comfort milk...HUGE game changer. Within 5 days, my DS was a different baby xx

BEANBAG765 · 28/03/2021 03:31

In desperate times like these I will put my twins in their pram at home.
Push it back and forth in the corridor and when asleep will wheel them down into a room.
They will happily sleep in the pram.
It is not ideal but desperate times need desperate measures!

giggly · 28/03/2021 03:36

Yeah the shit bit of parenting that no one tells you about, that and the piles from prolonged pushingShock

Toomanymuslins · 28/03/2021 03:36

‘Crack on with things’ at half two in the morning!?

CockneyCutie · 28/03/2021 03:47

My bloody insomnia has me tonight😡
I would gladly walk your baby so you could get some sleep and I would finally get tired!!💐
A snoring German Shepherd next to me is just an added insult!!

CockneyCutie · 28/03/2021 03:48

@ChattyMc completely in the same boat. I have a 7 week old. Why do they hate us so much? All we do is love, feed and answer to their every beck and call

Hugs to all the mums of non sleeping babies.

Lack of sleep is absolute torture- I remember it wellSad

Ended up co- sleeping with mine just so I could get some sleep too- he slept far better with me than in his own.

Ozgirl75 · 28/03/2021 08:57

See it was at this point that I would just get into bed, snuggle that little baby, stroke his head, have him face to face with me and fall asleep cuddling the little squishy fellow. Miss it now he’s 10!
It isn’t for everyone but one of my boys only ever wanted to sleep touching me and that was fine by me, he was so soft and warm and the look of adoration on his face was worth waking up with an achy arm as I literally hadn’t moved all night.

Ah yes. I miss those days too. I'm fully aware that that's due to the mists of nostalgia swirling round my brain, now mine are 9, 11 & 13!

For poor OP, who is in the trenches, I hope you finally got some sleep & can get a break & some rest today. X

GransKitchen · 28/03/2021 09:01

Oh I remember them days. I remember the driving around and as soon as we stopped the eyes just opened Shock. I look back at pictures and I look like a zombie!

Now, 8 years later, I find it hard to wake him up. I'm currently enjoying tea and toast in peace and quiet before I wake him up. It's so hard at the time, it does get easier and I didn't die Grin

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 28/03/2021 09:01

Looking back, I'm pretty sure DS1 had silent reflux. We used to be thrilled if he slept for 40 minutes at a time and it was impossible to lay him down flat.

He was a very vomity baby too, as in he could hit a wall on the other side of the room style if that sounds familiar. My HV told me it was normal. Then six months this later witnessed it and was surprised because she thought I was exaggerating...

Definitely worth considering!

ssd · 28/03/2021 09:02

This is the reason mine were in my bed for years

I needed a sleep but they didn't, they only slept lying next to me

When the youngest eventually left I missed him Blush

Please nobody do this.
bananamonkey · 28/03/2021 09:07

I cried when DC1 was 3 days old as I genuinely thought I would never sleep again and was going to die*

Hope you got some sleep in the end OP.
