For the purposes of the exercise please assume a "moles" is roughly the same length as a mile HmmGrin

No idea sorry but Grin

I thought you were transporting a caravan of 140 moles!

I couldn't wait to open the thread to see what reason in the world anyone would transport 140 moles and why did it have to be a caravan!

Do moles not like buses?

So, so many questions .... so, so disappointed!!

I had a vision of 140 moles in a caravan and thought that would end up in a hell of a mess! 😂

It usually depends on the length of the caravan.

megletsecond · 22/03/2021 23:02

Are these moles going on holiday?

KatyMac · 22/03/2021 23:02

I promise no moles will be involved in the transportation of the caravan or its subsequent use

I love moles

Catzpyjamas · 22/03/2021 23:03

Moles prefer to travel by underground. Wink

Oh I am sad this isn't about moles 😂

I thiiiink we paid about £220 to have a classic car transported from Berkshire to Essex so similar mileage (moleage?!) but twelve years ago and it wasn't my car so don't know any more detail than that. Except it was definitely on a flat bed trailer thing as the engine was transported separately.

... that's not as helpful as I was hoping but you did say ballpark Grin

I thought you were transporting a caravan of 140 moles!

And now all the chemistry nerds are thinking '140 moles of what'. (Ok, maybe just me...).

KatyMac · 22/03/2021 23:05

@LaurieFairyCake me too they and bats are my favourite

I had started doing the maths as to whether 140 miles would even fit into a caravan!

(Incidentally a mole is about 13cm by maybe 6cm by 5cm. So volume = 0.130.060.05= 0.00039 metres cubed. A caravan is about 3m by 1.5m by 1.5m so 5.4m cubed.

It seems you could fit nearly 14,000 moles into a caravan! I am very shocked. It would be a bit of a squash though!

MaizeBlouse · 22/03/2021 23:07

I have this vision of 140 moles going nuts inside a caravan. Thank you OP. Grin

KatyMac · 22/03/2021 23:09

Thanks @hilariousnamehere that gives me a start

@Mumoftwoinprimary me too - think it would smell!

There was something on Radio 1 the other day, how many doughnuts could you fit in a Ford Focus 😂 or maybe it was a Quashqai? It was about 30,000!

I challenge all maths teachers to set this for their students' Easter holiday quiz.

About 200 squid

hilariousnamehere · 22/03/2021 23:12

Haha I had to be the boring one with an actual answer Blush

Now I'm completely awed by the idea of 14,000 moles anywhere never mind in a caravan 😂

ErrolTheDragon · 22/03/2021 23:14

OTOH a mole of gas at standard temperature and pressure is 22.4 litres ....

AlexandraEiffel · 22/03/2021 23:15

Does that include putting moles in overhead lockers, cupboard etc? It could be you could fit even more in. Although then they'd have nowhere to store their luggage/food/bucket and spade for when they arrive at the caravan site I suppose.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/03/2021 23:16

(I assume the OP doesn't mind her thread being bumped by random mole-related posts as it increases the chances of her question being answered)
