silkies you're a genius, spoke to a nurse and getting new ABs tomorrow. Penicillin did its initial job and I can talk properly again, just need to think of my poor stomach.

Anyway! What else is dull and unexciting? I may phone a friend in a sec.

Sunbird24 · 24/03/2021 19:38

I had an hour and a half nap this afternoon, mostly in work time... 🤭

Frownette · 24/03/2021 19:48

Eggy thank you, makes me feel a little less bad about messing up quite literally this morning Blush.

I wonder if they'll ban me too after this?

@Sunbird24 you deserve a nap

Silkies · 24/03/2021 20:41

Glad you got it sorted Frownette I thought for years it was normal to feel really ill with antibiotics until one day a doctor asked me about side effects and said I need non-pencillin ones and I feel fine on those. Now they have that on my notes but if they don't note it just ask for non-pencillin ones and they look up an alternative (assuming it was a pencillin one that made you ill).

I also had a call back from the GP and they said I do have seasonal allergic asthma and they are giving me a blue inhaler, a peak flow test and something else I think but they said to take 1 or 2 anti-histamines every day in the season I'm affected. Was great to have a helpful doctor, had this for 2.5 years now and always before just told take anti-histamines and avoid things you are allergic to but I stay indoors and still get it all the time for 6 months a year.

Just had a Chinese - DD loves Chinese and was asleep when we placed the order but she always orders the same so I ordered that. I told her and she said what did you order me, teenage whining voice I bet you just ordered me what I always have. Yes I said plus I ordered vegetable Japanese udon. And she was a new thing no. I'll have my normal things, stops teenage whining voice. Hmm

I had pork dumplings, one satay chicken from the mixed starter and banana fritters and they were all great. DH ate the vegetable Japanese udon - he wasn't replying so he got random dish Grin but he said its nice but quite like veg chow mein with fatter noodles. He is the brave one amongst us so he gets all the new dishes.

HelenaJustina · 24/03/2021 21:00

@EggyPegg we had crispy gnocchi with mushrooms, squash and sage tonight. Absolutely delicious. P.72 looks good too, will add to the meal plan this month!

Frownette · 24/03/2021 21:20

Silkies I had no idea either! Dinner sounds nice.

I'm going to settle down now and watch a film.

EggyPegg · 24/03/2021 21:54

I love that I can casually mention here in the South West of England that toilet seats are adjustable and it causes someone in Berlin to go and check. Feel like I'm changing the world.

Speaking of change, I have changed our sheets today as DH bought new silk pillows, which arrived today, so naturally they needed all fresh sheets. I'm also showered with shaved legs, so it's going to be glorious when I get into bed shortly.

DH has also ordered us a silk duvet to use in the winter. I almost had a fit when he told me how much it cost. Despite ordering the duvet and pillows at the same time, they have dispatched them as separate parcels and the duvet is yet to arrive.

EggyPegg · 24/03/2021 21:55

To use in the summer! Not the winter!

Champagneforeveryone · 24/03/2021 21:59

I'm going to buy a new frying pan tomorrow

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/03/2021 22:15

eggy Grin

Every evening my foot starts hurting. I know it's normal and it's healing, but I do not like it. I'll take an Ibu.

Silkies · 24/03/2021 23:40

DD now reports we have two mice who she saw eating the chickens food we have downstairs as under the regulations now has to be kept inside. DD thought about it and said what if one mice is female and one mouse is male? I said then we will have lots of baby mice soon. Shock

Ordered a mouse trap 5 days a go but DH won't get it as its cruel (its a drive away and I don't drive) even though its a humane one though he has at least stopped putting food in our bedroom for them so they don't come in here anymore.

Just had fortune cookies. DH got treat yourself tomorrow, DD got you have an important life decision to make now and I got a difficult relationship will improve by the end of the month. DD said the only difficult relationship you have is me and I won't improve by the end of the month then added maybe someone will die.

mathanxiety · 25/03/2021 05:20

My car passed its emissions test today. Now I can pay my annual vehicle tax. Whoop-de-doo.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/03/2021 07:57

Regarding emissions, our gas boiler passed the test.
Once it didn't and the service men (no hi viz) discovered a dangerous fault, before it could set the roof on fire.

The sun is shining, we are promised 14°C.

DH wants to wait with the fridge and oven until lockdown is over. He likes to see and inspect things and talk to people. He does the shopping and cooking, so what do I care.

Spudlet · 25/03/2021 11:20

Eep, this thread fell off my threads I’m on list. The panic!

DS had the squits last night (apologies if TMI) so his Easter break has started 48 hours early. He is of course now bouncing around like a coked up kangaroo and eating the entire contents of the house 🙄 I assume he was having too much fun at school to go and held on for too long, combined with being extremely tired from waking up at ridiculous o’clock for the last month, and perhaps too much fruit from the school supply...! He seems fine, anyway.

This may be too exciting but DH has cancelled the MOT on the old car and is going to test drive a potential new car shortly. Fingers crossed it will turn out ok. We are going to put the old car on eBay with no reserve and see what we get for it, which should at least be amusing - hopefully someone will be willing to take it away...! It’s a pretty crappy car though, these days. But it did the job we needed it to do when DS was tiny and we had approximately 14 tonnes of paraphernalia to carry with us everywhere, plus dog. Thankfully we can travel a bit lighter these days.

I will now attempt to catch up with the goings on of the thread 👍

Ninkanink · 25/03/2021 11:29

My dull and unexciting news for today is that we’re having a couple of planters delivered. Actually it’s very exciting - I woke up early this morning, like a child on Christmas morning. Hmm

We’d each lived in flats for several years before we moved into our house recently so we’ve not had our own outdoor space for quite a while. We’ve just had the pointing done and everything is new and lovely, so I decided to get a couple of plants to sit out front to complete the picture. I’ll have to wait til next month to get said plants, though. But that’s ok!

Funny how it’s the little things that really feel quite important. This is our home, together. ❤️

Frownette · 25/03/2021 12:15

Sounds lovely @Ninkanick. Outdoor space is so important for the soul.

I'm still stuck indoors frightened of my bowels after my penicillin episode, had to cancel 12pm appointment. I'm going to have some pasta soon then find out what my new AB non-penicillin drugs are. I need to get on a train tomorrow, so... Confused

Squirrel26 · 25/03/2021 13:02

I’ve got the theme tune to Alvin And The Chipmunks stuck in my head.

EggyPegg · 25/03/2021 13:04

@Spudlet, I've sold several old bangers cars on eBay. They're worth quite a lot in parts.

When I was pregnant with DS1, someone T-boned me and caved in the driver's side of the car. It was only a P reg 106 that I'd paid about £150 for but I loved that car. I sold it on eBay for £100 and someone came to take it away on a flatbed

I've bought parts from a scrapyard before, including a replacement glove box which I paid £10 for. When you work out what they'll sell the individual parts for £100 is a bargain for them.

EggyPegg · 25/03/2021 13:05

@Squirrel26

I’ve got the theme tune to Alvin And The Chipmunks stuck in my head.
Cheers for that. Now I have too.
Sunbird24 · 25/03/2021 13:10

I can’t remember how it goes and I am not looking it up!

MissConductUS · 25/03/2021 13:56

Frownette, can you pick up some probiotics at the pharmacy? Also, yogurt with active cultures can help restore the intestinal flora that the AB's disrupted.

@Ninkanink, well done getting your garden started. That's on my to-do list for April.

This is guaranteed to remove an earworm, in addition to being a lovely composition about New York, and features the brilliant and gorgeous Wynton Marsalis on trumpet. Grin

You are very welcome @EggyPegg. Grin

It’s my friend’s fault. She sent me the squirrel emoji and then said actually that doesn’t look like a squirrel, and I said is it a chipmunk?

Champagneforeveryone · 25/03/2021 17:23

I somehow managed to not set my alarm and slept through DS's parents consultations

And I haven't bought my new frying pan yet - life is a cruel mistress

Nydj · 25/03/2021 17:28

We had a leaving do for someone at work on MS teams this afternoon - it wasn’t as excruciating at some of the previous ones we have had on MS Teams over the last year but still.
