Absolutely love passionfruit curd. My mum used to make lemon curd with marrows, that was good too.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/04/2021 13:45

Rhubarb Thank you - I ordered another pair in a dark viloet. They are healthy, the doc. made a note of the brand.

I'll see if I can find ready made curd in a shop here, just to see what it tastes like.

MissConductUS · 14/04/2021 17:15

Prok, I love your red shoes. They look comfortable too.

@Sacharelle, thanks for the clarification. I never would have guessed field hockey. In the US it's strictly a women's sport and mostly played at posh private schools. "Hockey" here is assumed to mean ice hockey.

DH checked what the new security cameras recorded overnight. A raccoon emerged from the woods and wandered across the driveway at 1:19 AM. Other than that all was quiet. I was rather hoping for a bear or a coyote.

I was looking for something new to watch on Netflix last night and found Secrets of Great British Castles. So far I've watched the episodes for Edinburgh Castle, Cardiff Castle, and about half of the York Castle one. They're fascinating and are really about the whole sweep of British history -the Norman invasion, various civil wars, and rebellions, etc. I knew that there was a lot of bloodshed and conflict, but this has really made it much more specific for me. Poor Mary Queen of Scotts!

That reminds me - a school mate of mine played field hockey internationally for the under 18 or so. I only managed to wack people over thge shins. I was quite bad at basket ball, too.

Thank you Miss the shoes are indeed incredibly comfortable. I have managed to book physio appointments for next week in walking (yay) distance.

The castles are on my watchlist, too.

sueelleker · 14/04/2021 18:59

Had to get a new mobile phone today-my last one gave up 2 weeks ago; I put it on charge, and nothing happened. So when the EE shop opened I popped in. I don't need anything fancy, so I got a Doro flip-phone in red for a change.www.google.com/search?q=(Doro+red+flip+phone)&spell=1&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj9u4Pyp_7vAhUogf0HHeDyApsQkeECKAB6BAgBEC8

DoctorTwo · 14/04/2021 19:02

Just got off the phone with my brother. He tells me I'm going to be a gruncle.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/04/2021 19:15

That is a great word 'gruncle' - that would be Gonkel translated, what is the female version I wonder?

NDN just came up, we will be feeding the cats for the weekend Smile

IWanderedLonely · 14/04/2021 19:36

Frownette can only remember snatches of the dream - the foxes were everywhere, I was walking on a footpath and there were just loads of foxes standing about. None where I live IRL

HelenaJustina · 14/04/2021 21:09

@Frownette 6.5hrs for 20 miles. We had 4DC with us for the first 6 miles and then carried on alone.

mathanxiety · 14/04/2021 22:35

My vaccine appointment for today was canceled because the CDC paused the rollout of the J&J vaccine. I feel I have dodged a bullet.

My local health department had appoints available from yesterday for first and second doses of moderna, so I have signed up for both dates available, and will cancel with the pharmacy as soon as I double check my eligibility for the local one and that the documentation they sent me is in order.

I'll be able to walk to the local appointment, which is a bonus.

Currently putting off tackling a big buildup of dishes in the sink...

freckles20 · 15/04/2021 00:22

Having begun my day with lemon curd, I now find a passionfruit version exists. It is now on my list.

@MissConductUS a raccoon! Wow. I love the thought of how different the wildlife is for you. It's our cat, birds, hedgehogs, badgers and foxes here. You versions sound a great deal more exciting!

@DoctorTwo congratulations.

freckles20 · 15/04/2021 00:23

@mathanxiety sounds like you have your vaccines sorted, that must be a big relief.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/04/2021 06:57

Cold an grey here.
Listening to the sound of the bin van while drinking my coffee.
I have to learn to walk properly again and undo the bad habits from before the op.
Work are doing tests every Monday morning, they are valid for shops, too.

Silkiescat · 15/04/2021 07:00

Sunny and birds singing here. DH's alarm went off three times but he's back sleeping.

freckles20 · 15/04/2021 07:34

@Prokupatuscrakedatus that sounds tricky, will you have any help from a physio?

For the doesn't time this year the dawn chorus woke me. It was lovely.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/04/2021 08:18

@freckles20 Yes, physio and lymphdrainage starts next week, but I spent 3 years 'protecting' this foot, so I need to practice walking (slowly and carefully) properly.

The birds started at 5.38 this morning. There were at least 5 different voices, but I know nothing about birds.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/04/2021 08:54

Silkie Thank you! I'll try to make proper use of this!

Frownette · 15/04/2021 09:08

prok I didn't know it had been going on for so long, how did it start?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 15/04/2021 09:52

Frownette - Well I had this toe (Hallux) from birth and took good care of it (flat shoes etc.). About 3 years ago the foot started to hurt while walking and last year I went to the doctor to get inlays and he sent me straight on to the surgeon, who found another thing wrong with it. All fine now, but I have to get rid of the 'protective' way of walking.

Silkie I already had lots of fun with this website, just listening!

Champagneforeveryone · 15/04/2021 11:02

rhubarb I'm now in the process of trying to engineer a trip to Aldi to investigate passion fruit curd!

Dr Google enlightened me that Richmond sausage patties can only be bought from Iceland. As a galloping food snob I have not been in an Iceland shop for about twenty years, however our enthusiasm for a knock off McMuffin won out.

I'm about to lure DS out of bed with the cooking smell Grin

Squirrel26 · 15/04/2021 15:39

Some men are replacing my work computer. There are about 6 of them. They aren’t wearing high vis, but I can still see them.

They seemed quite surprised that I was in fact sitting in my office working at 2.40 on a Thursday, and promised it would take 45 minutes. They’re not finished. I’m sitting in someone else’s office, which is empty, grinding my teeth waiting patiently.

MissConductUS · 15/04/2021 16:25

Math, I'm glad you have your immunization scheduled. I don't think that having the J&J vaccine on hold is going to make much difference in the long run.

@freckles20 - We have foxes here too, but no hedgehogs or badgers. We have loads of wild turkeys (see photos), pheasants, turtles, snakes, and the previously mentioned coyotes and bears. My property is adjacent to a large county nature preserve, so all sort of creatures wander through.

Tomorrow is the last day of my son's remote internship. He really hasn't thought through what he'll do for the rest of the summer. He's on pins and needles today because the accounting firm is going to offer full-time jobs to some of the interns, to start when they finish university (spring of 2022). I'm not bothered if he doesn't get one as I don't think he'll lack for opportunities, but I'm sure he'd like knowing that he has something lined up if they offer him one of the positions.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus your new shoes look lovely - good luck with the physio and re-learning to walk.
Good luck to your DS @ - I hope he is one of the fortunate ones to be offered a job. As well as the comfort of knowing that he has something lined up, the other main benefit of having a job in place is not having to go through the ridiculous recruitment process that companies have introduced for their graduate intakes these days. I assume it is similar if not worse in the US but the number of interviews and group exercises days etc for each job here is crazy.
@DoctorTwo, congratulations but what is a gruncle?

Nydj · 15/04/2021 18:01

Oh dear, that middle para should say:
