The poor collegue who had to take over my work is off sick, so I am working from home today. Sitting at my desk, in the middle of what once was the living / dining area and is now a two workspace office, with my foot on my desk tunneling my way to the office.
The phone does not work as usual.

HelenaJustina · 13/04/2021 08:13

We didn’t break up until the Wednesday/Thursday of Holy Week so have this whole week at home too. Off for a longish walk what else! with a friend and her DC today. Haven’t measured the distance for fear of creating implacable refusal in my own DC.

Silkiescat · 13/04/2021 08:20

I'm finally able to book a vaccine today - got first appointment then it said do you want 2nd appointment at same place put yes then it said well you can't have a second appointment there so we've cancelled your first appointment. Tried again and it said you didn't turn up to your first appointment (on 26 April 2021) Easter Confused so you need to book both appointments, tried to book and it keeps saying error. I think everyone must be trying to book.

Frownette · 13/04/2021 08:43

Oh I'm sure I heard something about the website crashing today. Can't remember if that was R4 or on here

RhubarbFairy · 13/04/2021 09:16

Good morning all.

Mine are still off as they didn't break ubuil Maundy Thursday. We are going to a huge playground today with one of my old colleagues and her children. I am also going to drop three bags off books off at the local hospital for the children's ward. These are much loved books that we've had many of since DS1 was tiny so I'm glad they're not just going to the charity shop.

Silkiescat · 13/04/2021 09:42

Now it says I booked them though nothing local was available and it said it would send me an e-mail to confirm and nothing. One was at a community centre an hour away and the other at a race course an hour away. Very bizarre.

HelenaJustina · 13/04/2021 11:11

Who is booking open to now?

Silkiescat · 13/04/2021 11:19

45s to 50s but it doesn't send you confirmation e-mail so note your appointments. Also had no local ones for me, only an hour away and some people said they are still loading appointments on so can be worth waiting. It was crashing a lot but sometimes you get lucky, it was my about 101st attempt after 2 hours that worked. Well hopefully worked as no confirmation yet. But someone phoned 119 and they said there's a delay on e-mails / texts of a few hours. Maybe screenshot it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/04/2021 12:25

Back from 'work' and putting my foot back up.

And I have found DS's vacc. booklet and filed it back into its expected place. There are several hundered sun-dead vampires in his room, but I ignored them.

MissConductUS · 13/04/2021 14:19

@OrdinaryLife, I see that you were not properly welcomed when you posted, so welcome now, and thanks for sharing your news. You mentioned Vancouver. Do you still live there?

My daughter is quite gifted academically and has had near-perfect marks her first year in uni, at quite a selective one too. So we were not greatly surprised by her being offered the internship. It has really messed up our plans. I have more or less given up trying to get her back to New York to get vaccinated. She'll have to sort it in Massachusettes when she becomes eligible. I'm not quite sure when we'll see her next either. Sad

OrdinaryLife · 13/04/2021 14:55

Thanks for the welcome. Loved Vancouver but missed family so we moved back to the UK just before ds2 was born and am near Newcastle. We're off this week too so I've been to IKEA with ds2 as he's been sleeping on the floor for a month since we moved. Surprisingly not busy, everyone must be in primark Grin

He has rugby training later - so good that sport is back - and then I'll take him driving again. Way too exciting for this thread though Shock

It must be hard having her so far away - I'm definitely spoilt that ds1 went to local uni and is living at home.

Champagneforeveryone · 13/04/2021 15:58

Apparently 1000 people were queuing outside the Bristol IKEA when it first opened Confused

My raspberry canes have been delivered. Well, the notification says they have, but I haven't been to check. I'm at the age where this is exciting stuff.

ChampagneCat continues to use the new expensive cat flap as a cat level window. DH sees this as a good thing as he knows she's safe, and therefore views it as money well spent.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/04/2021 16:48

I checked and project-coded 396 unread e-mails, which was astonishingly boring.

So I sent DD out to buy chips/crisps, peanuts and chocolate and what else she thinks neccessary.

Trinidadandtobago · 13/04/2021 16:56

Just been for my Covid jab. Heard through the grapevine last night that the booking system had been updated to allow 45+ through so I managed to book one before the post-announcement rush. The vaccine centre was deserted, which seemed a bit wasteful. They said it had been quiet for a while as the over-50s tailed off, but they were expecting a flood of new customers from tomorrow.

Sacharelle · 13/04/2021 17:23

My ten year old has been asked if he would like to join the academy at his hockey club. He's only been playing since September so this is a real boost for him.

Spudlet · 13/04/2021 17:30

Hello again everyone. Today DS was back at school, and I baked brownies. He was quite put out not to be allowed one when he got home (they were only just out of the oven!).

Tomorrow I am going to be cycling to the physiotherapist and then home again. It’s a 16 mile round trip so I think it will count as my cross training for the week. I’m going to be pooped!

RhubarbFairy · 13/04/2021 17:33

How lovely for your DS @Sacharelle. Welcome to the thread.

Also welcome to @Trinidadandtobago

We are back from the park I had a lovely catch up with a friend. She was impressed that I had brought camping chairs for us both, rather than sitting on the floor. They live in my boot for optimal park comfort.

Lasagne for dinner for the DC. Shop bought as I refuse to faff with making one. Veggie beetroot burgers and mash for me.

RhubarbFairy · 13/04/2021 17:34

Oh and I got home from work to find that my neighbour had dropped this round for me as a thank you for my rhubarb distribution last week. Made this morning. It smells incredible and I'm tempted to just have that for dinner.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/04/2021 17:41

What delicacy is this?

My shoes have arrived!

Sunbird24 · 13/04/2021 17:41

I spotted a big fat bumblebee on the path at work today, looking a bit drowsy. Couldn’t bring it into the office to give it sugar water so figured the next best thing was to move it into the bushes where it wouldn’t get trodden on. All I had on me to do that was my St Anthony prayer card 🤦‍♀️

HelenaJustina · 13/04/2021 18:04

Very apt use of a prayer card, am sure St Anthony was actively approving though St Francis would have been more on topic!

We did 9.5 miles with the friends, I had deliberately not measured in advance and thought it might be ‘about 7’ I was quite wrong Confused

6 DC aged 7yrs-13yrs managed no problem/no whinging as they had each other for company though suspect the 7yr old will crash out pretty early tonight!

MissConductUS · 13/04/2021 18:10

Weclome, @Trinidadandtobago and @Sacharelle, and thanks for sharing your immunization and hockey news. Is hockey sidely played in the UK or are you in North America, Sacharelle?

Ordinary, we've managed to avoid an empty nest so far. Our daughter was home last fall (this is her first year at uni) due to the pandemic, while our son was away as his uni was having face-to-face classes. In January, she went on campus and he came home, as he was doing a remote internship and there was no point in paying room and board for him. He likes the food at home better too. Smile

He'll go back on campus in September for his fourth and final year, and our daughter will continue on campus. The current panic is that she has to move out of her current dorm room next month and into the one residence hall they keep open over the summer. Then she has to start her internship two days later. We also thought that she would need to come home for a doctor's appointment, but it looks like she can get her prescription renewed on campus by the student health nurse practitioner. And she has to get her vaccination arranged somehow.

She's quite strong willed and a bit stubborn independent, so working all of this out with her has been a bit like a difficult diplomatic negotiation. Smile

I am - to my suprise - more vain than I thought. I discovered that I only have black socks and it pains me as the shoes are red with white. But they feel lovely on my healthy foot, I did not dare to try the other one. I'll wait until after the x-ray.

DD returned and gave me fire dragons (crisps).

RhubarbFairy · 13/04/2021 18:46

Prok. Bread! I'm very much looking to it.

DH has just gone out to meet some work colleagues in a beef garden. He hasn't seen some of these people in over a year. He looked very smart as he went out. That and the fact that the sun is shining means that I'm feeling very hopeful this afternoon. Feels like summer and normality is on the way.

@HelenaJustina, that's some good going!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/04/2021 18:55

Rhubarb Enjoy!
