Just did a lot of cleaning upstairs whilst the equal and opposite forces against cleaning are at school.

Silkiescat · 12/04/2021 14:06

Have beans and poached egg on toast for a late lunch after my bath.

Silkiescat · 12/04/2021 14:12

School said DS is very calm and just checked his lunch card, he's had his usual luxury school dinner of plain pasta which he negiotated a reduction of to 50p at start of year 7. Blush He's very keen on money saving.

Nydj · 12/04/2021 16:40

Hello everyone - so many lovely updates.
Oh @MissConductUS, I know you must be proud and happy for your daughter but how cruel to have think she would be home for the whole of the summer and then that notion being whisked away! Congratulations to your daughter and hugs to you.
A canoe! Now that always reminds me of the man who fakes his death on a canoe and hid in his house with the help of his wife - he got caught and his children who did not know about the scam were so upset. Sorry, I got carried away on a tangent- I hope you enjoy many hours in your canoe, @Seafog.
@Silkies, good news on the EHCP

Frownette · 12/04/2021 16:41

I was thinking about this just now: if you eat a jacket potato with baked beans, what would you have with it? I know that baked beans count as a vegetable, but I can't think of any vegetable or salad which would go with it?

Just eat an apple afterwards?

Frownette · 12/04/2021 16:42

Hmm, peppers maybe

Nydj · 12/04/2021 16:43

My new garden hose has arrived - it was stupidly expensive but had very good reviews and I am sick of hoselock and B&Q own bland hoses kinking and leaking. We had a moment earlier today when I used the new hose and couldn’t get it to retract - DH has fixed it - we hope. Well, it has retracted but whether it will work as it should in the futre remains to be seen.

SuperintendentHastings · 12/04/2021 16:53

Oh this is a lovely thread!

I ordered new food bag clips yesterday and they arrived today, which I'm pleased about. They also came in their own storage bag which has made me even more pleased.

I saw a black squirrel outside my window at work today. They're quite common here but it was nice to see close up.

Nydj · 12/04/2021 17:43

A black squirrel? I didn’t know they existed! I hope they are nicer than whichever squirrel keeps digging up my tulip and grape hyacinths bulbs on a daily basis for the past two weeks Angry

SuperintendentHastings · 12/04/2021 17:55

@Nydj No digging for this fella today 😂, just a bit of sunbathing on a branch!

freckles20 · 12/04/2021 18:15

@Frownette corn on the cob?

@Nydj I persuaded DH that we needed a fancy new hose last summer. One of those that gets longer when you turn in the tap. If was fabulous, but broke after a very short time. I daren't get another.

I know they are probably vermin, but I love watching squirrels. Just big standard greys here though.

I have walked 12 dogs today. They have been delightful. Shattered now though.

MissConductUS · 12/04/2021 19:32

I have to ask DH to turn on the water for the outside hose connections. I have one on the deck for watering the plants.

DH is home with the electricians. They're still working on installing the Rings system but the outside cameras and video doorbell are working. I can see them on the app on my phone. Smile

IWanderedLonely · 12/04/2021 20:32

I wasted 15 minutes tonight on DH's Rubik's Cube. I was rubbish on them in the 80s and haven't improved with the passage of time. [sighs]

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 12/04/2021 20:35

12 dogs freckles sounds exhausting but healthy. Not all 12 at the same time? There is a lady in our street who walks dogs together with her daughter, 5 is her limit.

I am trying to locate DS's vacc. booklet - he needed it for his last vaccine and put it away himself. It is not in his file. I am afraid I have to enter his room... [omnious music]

Silkiescat · 12/04/2021 21:19

Having a takeaway Chinese tonight. Drinking coke.

DS and DD back from school. DD said did you hoover today? I said yes. She replied I can tell.

I cancelled hair appointment for me tomorrow as still not vaccinated and asthma isn't great so cut it myself again and looks reasonable. DS has an appointment tomorrow and think its a bit of a stampede there at the moment, at least going by phone lines, can't get through at all. DS currently looks like a sheep that hasn't been shaved for 6 years and when I pointed that out he said it was great and he loved sheep. He doesn't like combs though.

Laptop keeps dying on and off as back has come loose. Been trying out my new tablet.

Ordered DD the third copy of Romeo and Juliet she wanted.

Silkiescat · 12/04/2021 21:23

Also been looking up boiler systems - our pump is leaking by hot water tank which DH reckons is fine to leave with a container underneath but I remain to be convinced by him.

I've discovered our boiler is so old we cannot tell when it was made but the closest name online has an instruction manual from 1994 so guessing about 30 years old. I found out we have a system boiler with a system hot water tank.

I could tell you other things I learned but I fear that maybe too much excitement so I will refrain.

Squirrel26 · 12/04/2021 21:55

If I was eating a jacket potato with beans I would have cheese with it. I’m aware cheese isn’t a vegetable, but it is delicious.

About to go to bed.

Frownette · 12/04/2021 22:56

@Squirrel26 yes I would too :) I guess potato + beans is enough towards 5 a day, cheese a bonus.

Sleepy but will probably get a cup of tea and chocolate before I go to bed.

silkiecat I may not understand boilers, but I'd do my best to look fascinated.

Frownette · 12/04/2021 22:57

Oh has the pink come out now?

Silkiescat · 13/04/2021 00:27

No still quite pink but 1 teacher just said you know that's against the rules and other teachers may say something and another teacher saying that's against the rules but it looks very pretty and giggling.

DD wants to dye it blonde but that starts the whole dyeing cycle off again and she often makes it orange by mistake. But its washing out very, very slowly. I just cleaned some off the bathroom today amongst my cleaning. Was wondering what strange mold had turned the tiles pinkish beige then I though ahh, this almost looks like pink hair dye. It is pink hair dye. Washes off tiles very easily.

Champagneforeveryone · 13/04/2021 04:53

God silkie yes, the dying angst Grin

DS is in full rock god mode and has jet black hair as a result, I counselled against it but he was adamant. There's also been several attempts to put a red streak in, with varying degrees of success. The amount of stripping and dying that goes on to maintain his gothic facade is fascinating to me Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/04/2021 06:54

Hello all, I woke up to lovely sun through my bedroom window, but it is only 2° C.
DH hopes for all of us to go back outside (school, uni, work), he longs for alone time. Which I understand, only, he is the one with an office of his own with a door and a balcony. Hmm

My shoes are still not here.

OrdinaryLife · 13/04/2021 07:22

Its sunny here too @Prokupatuscrakedatus but -2. DH has had to scrape the ice off the car again. I've put a fleece on and have taken my coffee back to bed Smile Brew

Are you in the UK @SuperintendentHastings? Black squirrels were the default ones in Vancouver - bigger even than the greys.

Your daughter must be doing really well to have been offered an internship @MissConductUS - great for her but less so for you.

Champagneforeveryone · 13/04/2021 07:32

It is -2 here as well. One of the few positives of night shifts is that I am about to go to bed, while everyone else shivers.

Night all Smile

Silkiescat · 13/04/2021 07:49

Good morning everyone Easter Grin It's 2C and bright sun here.

DD is in the shower trying to wash out her pink hair, DS is pacing as he wants the bathroom and will only use the one DD is in, DH is taking the bins and recycling out.

Then kids are off to school. Rodrigro visited in the night for DH's cheese but then it took him about 30 attempts to jump the step. I told DH he's is creating overweight mice. Still if it continues the mouse may get so overweight and slow DH will finally be able to catch it with his homemade mouse traps.

DS has a haircut at 5.30pm. I've been doing some accounts. I also watched The Farmer Wants a Wife on DiscoveryPlus.
