I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

I like the theme of this thread and its focus on soothing mundane things. I can see it would be difficult not to get into conversations, and that could end up unintentionally hijacking the thread for a while.
I had also missed the PPs sad news and felt sorry that I had missed it. I think that’s easily done when you are just dipping in and out of a general thread but it was especially bad timing as it coincided with the other PPs good news.
I don’t know how to prevent that kind of thing happening from time to time but I do feel that we should try to move on from it and get back to the soothing mundane things if possible, to prevent anyone getting hurt.

DH has finally taken down trampoline and enormous climbing frame with monkey bars, swing, slide, trapeze and glider thing that has been taking upost of the room in our garden for almost 7 years and I am amazed at how big the garden looks now. Over the next week we are putting up cricket nets and floor matting for using with a bowling machine DS had for Xmas which will take up most of garden again, right fown the middle has been earmarked apparently. For just a few days I shall marvel at how lovely garden looks. I sat out on Sunshine today and it was wonderful.

Frownette · 04/04/2021 21:28

Splendid it was just that it was obvious you hadn't read the thread. If you had you would have known we were all a bit worried about Sun and stepped clear of the topic. But it's lovely about baby.

This is supposed to be dull and unexciting, after all. Perhaps start an exciting news thread :)

In my news here, I got lost on a walk earlier and by the time I got home it is too late to buy milk and I really, really want a cup of tea

EggyPegg · 04/04/2021 21:38

Excellent news about your bike ride @Spudlet. Going on family bike rides is one of my favourite things to do.

Our rhubarb plant was taller than DS2 so I thinned it out this morning. I delivered over 30 stalks to friends and neighbours that live within 1/4 of a mile of me by leaving it on their doorsteps. I've had two different people message me to ask if I'm the rhubarb fairy, so I feel a name change coming on. The rhubarb plant is still full and plentiful, but now the smaller stalks have room to breathe and grow.

RhubarbFairy · 04/04/2021 21:40

Hooray!! It was available.

Nydj · 04/04/2021 22:09

I wish the rhubarb fairy delivered round here!

It has been a lovely dull day here - the neighbours were out in their gardens and were quite noisy which was nice - I hadn’t realised how much I’d missed the sound of people just enjoying themselves with chatter and laughter outside of our little family.

Silkiescat · 04/04/2021 23:14

It's been very dull here, had a roast lamb and DH is currently cooking a flan and the smoke alarm went off. I checked the thatched roof and its still there.

MissConductUS · 05/04/2021 00:08

We had a lovely Easter meal and the chicken was cat approved. We're taking a break before having the cupcakes.

Just had some of DH's flan, he seems to be running to an American timetable and DS is fast asleep. DH was disappointed the texture wasn't right as he added flour rather than cornflour but it still tastes nice. I've having a second piece. Silkiecat got cross with him for taking 2.5 minutes in the bathroom, she had allowed him 2 minutes away.

Holothane · 05/04/2021 01:18

Not been around much too engrossed in my crush of Eric Roberts as the Master at least the weather is getting better, Easter Cake was delivered sideways so a mess but it didn’t matter I’m still eating it.

Frownette · 05/04/2021 01:55

I'm going to try to get some sleep now

Silkiescat · 05/04/2021 02:12

Goodnight Frownette, sleep tight and don't let the Easter bunny bite. Easter Wink

Squirrel26 · 05/04/2021 10:40

Someone on Homes Under The Hammer has just bought a house with no indoor bathroom. ‘You’ve got to be positive about these things’ says the presenter.

Frownette · 05/04/2021 11:17

I have an Easter bunny, I'm not a massive chocolate eater so that will last me for April

Frownette · 05/04/2021 11:18

@Squirrel26 is the bathroom in the garden?

Frownette · 05/04/2021 11:56

I thought this tree was really pretty on my walk last night. It was dark by the time I got back! I don't think I went very far, but must have been longer than I'd thought. I bought some chips then decided to meander.

forgetthehousework · 05/04/2021 12:30

My week has been far too exciting for this thread as I've been out gallivanting on four different days (and only one of them was even vaguely necessary) and we've had friends in the garden twice! It's been wonderful.
On a less happy note DH is attempting to dig up the bamboo that has spread everywhere since I planted it about ten years ago, so on that front I am definitely in the naughty corner Sad (oooh, I've just looked for a sad emoji and there's BUNNIES Easter GrinEaster GrinEaster Grin)

Squirrel26 · 05/04/2021 14:11

There was a toilet in the garden, @Frownette. There wasn't an actual bathroom anywhere. Shock

The people who bought it put one in. And a kitchen, which was also lacking.

Sunbird24 · 05/04/2021 14:29

I discovered I’m 8 kg heavier than I thought I was and officially overweight. 😭

Frownette · 05/04/2021 14:35

@Squirrel26 that would get cold during winter!!!

There is nothing better than a good walk after a stressful Easter. I was trying to take pictures of the city from my vantage point top of the hill then realised it was getting dark and a strange man walked up and I said "sorry, I'm just taking pictures" and he said not one word and walked past but I suddenly realised it might be unsafe and scurried back off home.

Frownette · 05/04/2021 14:36

@Sunbird24 I think I'm officially underweight so I'll take your kg, we'll balance out :)

Nydj · 05/04/2021 14:39

That is a very pretty tree, @Frownette.

@forgetthehousework, we had a similar exercise in the garden last year when we discovered the little slow growing ivy I had bought and planted about 20 years ago had made a run for it in the previous couple of years - I think I am still on the naughty step for that!

Frownette · 05/04/2021 16:27

Tsk tsk Nydj.

I texted my ex neighbour earlier as Lidl have 15% discount on Swedish cider. He is mad about cider. I'll go down and get him a couple of bottles tomorrow if I don't hear back from him. I'd need to get my specs on first though as I'm not used to buying cider, I'd probably end up with a bottle of sun lotion or summat unless I can see clearly (I hate wearing my glasses so I rarely do)

Spudlet · 05/04/2021 16:50

I bought the running kit. DH looked disapproving. I have made amends by sending him the details of some secondhand BMWs to look at.

@RhubarbFairy We enjoyed our bike ride so much we’ve just been for another one! It was a bit exciting as one of the securing straps on the bike rack came off on the way there Easter Shock Fortunately the rack itself and the bikes stayed firmly in place.

RhubarbFairy · 05/04/2021 17:12

Eek, that is a bit scary @Spudlet.

The first time I pick the bike rack on this car, I didn't secure the lower straps well enough (my old car had a metal plate under the bumper with a hole in that I used to hook them into, this one doesn't) so they came loose and the bike rack flew sideways, tipping all three bikes onto the road.

I now trap the lower straps in the boot door and it doesn't move, but every journey still makes me nervous and I drive with half an eye on them.
