I did a thoroughly mediocre job of shaving my legs in the shower, but then my shorts don’t fit anyway so it won’t matter. Hooray for stretchy maxi dresses!

HelenaJustina · 02/04/2021 13:35

DC1 is doing this too @BlueSkyBlinking she has been working on it for weeks!

HelenaJustina · 02/04/2021 13:36

Very quiet day today as it is Good Friday. I’ve been doing some gardening as penance as I loathe it. Mass is at 3pm but we’ll aim to get there at 2.30.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/04/2021 13:44

The first hibiscus blossom opened. Smile

Frownette · 02/04/2021 14:03

That's lovely prok.

I just battled my way around the hell on earth that is the supermarket on good Friday Confused

Champagneforeveryone · 02/04/2021 14:49

Ha, DH is about to do that as well frownette Grin

It's only a small top up shop but he's discovered the beer cupboard is empty, so his motivation has increased greatly!

Squirrel26 · 02/04/2021 16:03

I've painted about half of the side of the stairs (stairs go straight up from the living room, so the wooden bit that isn't the wall.) Looks quite good. I thought it might need two coats, but now I'm thinking it might not.

Frownette · 02/04/2021 16:05

I found out what happened to the dog!! The owner employs a dog walker who tied the dog to a lamppost, went into a shop and came out completely forgetting he was there.

Owner and dog reunited now.

EggyPegg · 02/04/2021 16:46

Good grief. I hope that the dog walker is suitably sacked.

I took my bike to Halfords this morning to get it's puncture repaired. Yes I could learn how to do it myself but actually by the time I've bought the replacement inner tube (£8), I'm quite happy to pay them the £5 service charge and not have to fanny about with it myself. I must have had a slow puncture for ages as it's like riding a new bike.

My new ski helmet has arrived. I am delighted with it and now DH has helmet envy.

EggyPegg · 02/04/2021 16:47

Gah. Rogue apostrophe in its.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/04/2021 17:14

I am trying to decide what cake to bake for Easter Sunday.

I would like to make cheesecake after DM / DGM recipe, but DH wants cheesecake like his DM made plus he wants to add raisins. He wants to add raisins to every cake we make.
Or waltnut-apple cake?

Decisions, decisions ...

Spudlet · 02/04/2021 17:34

DS had a school friend over today, just to play in the garden. It was lovely for all concerned as we actually got to talk to actual other adult people while the kids played!

Now sitting in front of the fire, telling myself I do not need more running kit. I do not. I do not.

But I waaaaaant it 😭 Blush

Frownette · 02/04/2021 17:50

Is it hot where you are? Cheesecake if so, walnut apple if not

Spudlet you might as well, Eggy was buying sports stuff

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/04/2021 17:58

@frownette
No, definitely not hot - Berlin. Cold, the weather people even talked about snow....
I put your decision to DH Smile

MissConductUS · 02/04/2021 18:23

@EggyPegg

Gah. Rogue apostrophe in its.
I struggle with this too. I find the Grammarly software invaluable, as I'm often a careless writer. Both kids have it as well to assist their writing at uni. I did think that your original usage was correct:

as it's like riding a new bike.

because the apostrophe is needed to make the contraction from "it is". Have I missed something?

Sunbird Hope you are now at your parents and being well looked after.

DH is playing the piano. I have just transferred DS's child trust fund to a junior isa but realised I can't transfer DD's as her passport has gone out of date. Although its minimal interest everywhere so makes little difference. So now we need to get a new passport for DD not that we can travel anywhere but you can dream.

Changed the sheet on our bed - we now have a fleece pink one rather than a fleece white one and king size rather than double as the double was overstretched.

Had avocado and prawn salad for lunch. Now having a milky coffee. Ordered two teal velvet sofas covers for the sofas which no doubt rabbit will also devour his way through Hmm but hopefully they will look presentable for 6 months and occassionally we get lucky, he's not interested in the rug other than for flopping on stretched out in its fluff. We need a long haired carpet. Hoping the sofa covers will fit as its a leather sofa with fairly solid big arms. Quite a way to collect them but I wanted two to match. I ordered a teddy bear fleece cat bad, DD pointed out the cat already has a single bed to herself but the cat loved the fleece duvet and DS has now got it for him and rabbit.

Frownette · 02/04/2021 18:39

Do the cat and the rabbit get on?

I was hoping @Sunbird24 was now relaxing at parents too. I have to pack tonight for Easter. I'm going to eat a trifle then take a shower.

Silkiescat · 02/04/2021 18:52

The rabbit loves the cat and the cat tolerates the rabbit but they have to have a baby gate to seperate them as the rabbit is 2 and very bouncy and runs up to the cat and tries and jumps on top of her and she is 16 and just looks Hmm like get this overactive thing away from me. Cat also gets very jealous if DH talks to the rabbit. The rabbit often sits watching the cat and she watches it sat on a table knowing the gate means he can't jump on top of her.

Sunbird24 · 02/04/2021 19:23

I am at my parents thank you, and things have started happening so it looks like I shan’t have to go to the hospital after all.

EggyPegg · 02/04/2021 19:32

it's puncture repaired

@MissConductUS, I know that it's is a contraction from it is. Which is why that usage is incorrect. Otherwise it would be 'to get it is puncture repaired'

My phone just seems to stick the version with the apostrophe in as standard and I rarely pay enough attention to check.

@Spudlet Do it. Dooooooo it.

DH bought the men's version just now. The envy was strong and it was payday yesterday. Plus Amazon were offering it for five monthly payments of £18.)

Flowers @Sunbird24

Squirrel26 · 02/04/2021 20:23

Ski helmets are important safety equipment. Nothing wrong with spending money on them. Likewise the right kind of new running kit is important for keeping you, er, at the correct temperature??

I really want to buy the horse a new saddle pad. He doesn't need one. His are perfectly fine, not that he cares. I don't need one. I am not 12, and I don't need to play dress-up with my pony.

But I still want one. Grin

SplendidSuns1000 · 02/04/2021 22:33

We've collected the Beetle and she's in fine fettle, all tucked up in the garage for now.

I hate to break the thread rules but I have some rather un-dull news... I'm pregnant! Completely unplanned and unexpected but we've suspected it for a few days. Confirmed with about 50 tests this morning!

Frownette · 02/04/2021 22:40

Congratulations Flowers

MissConductUS · 02/04/2021 23:11

That's splendid, @SplendidSuns1000, congratulations! Will this be your first?
