Frownette I've just been put in the normal group for my age, I had an A&E visit due to bad asthma last year but it didn't get recorded as asthma so I wasn't put in group 6. But DH has the opposite he should be in the normal group for his age and was put in CEV. It's good to have him vaccinated. I think it will be end April to mid May now for my first.

Frownette · 01/04/2021 21:00

@SplendidSuns1000 I got momentarily confused by what a frappuchino was (I'm not with it today) but I'm addicted to them even though they seem to always make them sweet. My favourite is the blue one at Lidl. (I'm so dozy that in Tescos just now I'd put everything else through and she had to say the bread several times whilst I stood there looking gormless with it underneath my arm.)
A frappucino to toast your new car with!

MissConductUS · 01/04/2021 21:07

@Squirrel26, I always suspected that Honeysuckle was rather posh. Grin

Today is the opening day for professional baseball in NY. They're allowing fans in the stadium with negative covid tests. DS is probably at home watching the Yankees play.

@Frownette I haven't tried the Lidl ones, I'll add them to my list! I'm just as dozy, I packed up my shopping the other day and walked off without paying! (Thankfully didn't get trampled to death by the security guards though Grin )

The car I'm getting is a rather delightful 1964 VW Beetle! I've bought it from a friend so sadly no under-tent signing but it's my first project car and I intend to paint it pink!

Silkiescat · 01/04/2021 21:23

That's my favourite car Splendid I don't drive but I did try to persuade DH to get one as he always buys French cars but he did get a Panhard Dyna-X a bit like this one which he says is the closest he could get to a French beetle:

Champagneforeveryone · 01/04/2021 21:24

Ooh splendid, I could not be more jealous Envy Will you post a picture please

Things are calm for now DS is upstairs, DH is on the sofa. DS is normally very compliant and respectful and as a result gets a fairly easy ride through family life. He wants a lift tomorrow to meet friends for a walk, but has however declared that he does not need DH's help at all.

So that will be fun.

Silkiescat · 01/04/2021 21:30

DS is hardly talking atm, not sure why, seems to be a lockdown thing but he came to me cuddling a polar bear fleece duvet I bought for him which DH brought in a week or so back but had forgotten to give him saying can I have this? He seems very happy with it. Just hope rabbit doesn't eat it but on the other hand its a lot cheaper than leather sofas to replace.

Silkiescat · 01/04/2021 22:22

I've just told DS about the 5 foot rhea birds on the loose in a Hertfordshire village, he seems very happy with that.

SplendidSuns1000 · 01/04/2021 22:37

@Silkiescat my husband used to have one of those! I'll happily let you pretend to drive the beetle!

I will try my best to post a photo! She's coming back with us on a trailer so it might have to wait until she's functional and pink which may be a while yet as my dearest darlingest husband is getting a new motorbike next week and I have a feeling he'll be too preoccupied with his project to help with mine...

Silkiescat · 01/04/2021 22:43

I told my DH I want one of the Herbies that drives itself like in the movies, we just get in it and say where we want to go. Always fancied a sports herbie as well though the properly round ones not the flattened newer version. Pale blue or dark red with a beige leather interior and self-driving. Did rent one on Jersey once but it was dark blue but was the best thing about our visit.

DH's dyna lives in France and so we've not been able to see her for ages, she's also quite spluttery when DH drives her, she is nice but she isn't herbie. But she is dark red/ purply so he got the colour right.

SplendidSuns1000 · 01/04/2021 22:51

I'd love a self driving Herbie. It would make it much easier to nap during traffic!

At least you have an excuse to go to France, I think I might have to rent a garage over there to visit every now and then...

EggyPegg · 01/04/2021 23:54

Welcome @SplendidSuns1000 and @BlueSkyBlinking!

Sorry to hear about the dingdong @Champagneforeveryone. Will you be expected to provide said lift now that he doesn't require DHs help?

@Silkiescat, I was looking at the fleece duvet covers in B&M the other day marvelling how people don't just melt under them. MIL bought me some fleece pyjamas for Christmas one year. I returned them for a credit note immediately as I knew that I would be some uncomfortable in them.

I have just submitted another assignment. I flipped the bird at it several times as I hit submit. I hated every second of it.
7 assignments down, 2 to go!

mathanxiety · 02/04/2021 05:19

I got the oil changed in my car, and they refilled the window washing fluid too, so I'll be able to see through the windshield even when driving east first thing in the morning.

DS had to shave off his beard and moustache to be fitted with a N95 mask for his upcoming hospital rotations. He requests no photos at Easter as he looks like Mr Potato Head instead of Mr Bearded Trendy Gent. He sent a photo of himself just so that I could be forewarned and forearmed for when he arrives for Easter dinner, and I have to admit I kind of agree.

Well done on your progress with the assignments, EggyPegg.

Frownette · 02/04/2021 05:44

@mathanxiety that'll be nice to catch up, beard or no.
@EggyPegg so going down one by one, excellent!!

I was pleased this morning as I got a little bit of proper sleep, woke up in a fever but now feel a bit better. Who knew tonsils could cause so much trouble.

Silkiescat · 02/04/2021 06:30

Not slept and feeling incredibly bored but not sure we want to risk hypothermia and covid to go to the only place open the lido at 9C. Especially as we need to turn up in a wet wetsuit and the parking people use is a supermarket carpark - how are we supposed to give the impression we are just parking for a shop both dressed in wetsuits. And I suspect we may get odd looks both in our village and around the town lido is in walking round in wetsuits.

But other than that its just chores or more eating and watching Netflix. At least its a 4 day weekend for DH. He's not too excited though at the prospect of 4 days of chores or 4 days of nothing.

Sunbird24 · 02/04/2021 06:40

I woke up at 4. Now watching Robin of Sherwood (1984)

Silkiescat · 02/04/2021 08:03

DS went out to feed the silkies. He came back in and they were still going bork-bork-bork so he went back out then came in and they were still going bork-bork-bork. He came upstairs and I went bork-bork-bork and DS growled at me. Sad Though they have stopped bork-borking now so guess they have laid an egg or two. Think DS is tired.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/04/2021 08:38

Good Friday - traditionally a very silent day here and now even more so. I expected it to rain, but it doesn't.

Deathraystare · 02/04/2021 08:40

Just lately some people have gathered outside my tower block (as the weather has been nice) and chatted - well screeched and bellowed up until about 11 pm. They've not exactly been keeping me awake so I felt no cause for complaint. Tonight they weren't there but in their place (not literally) was one of the inpatients (Psychiatry) who bellowed most of the night and early morning (for all I know he might still be at it!). I work in Psychiatry (not that hospital). I got in this morning and sure enough, in the room they built next to reception (very clever - NOT!) was a guy kicking off and bellowing and bashing doors. It is a real home from home sometimes!

Most of the people coming in now are drug dependants. They are the ones who 'kick-off' apparently. They say some awful things to the staff and come out with very racist things. The 'normal' mentally ill usually just sleep a lot. This is what we have been told by the nurses anyway.

The idiots who designed the place put a door into our reception which of course is always locked but does not stop the patient trying to escape so there is a regular bang bang bang to be heard. They also had to change all the glass. See through glass with vulnerable patients coming in wearing only a blanket or stripping off as soon as they get in. Come on!!!!! Think!!!!

Frownette · 02/04/2021 08:44

That doesn't sound very peaceful @Deathraystare Confused

Deathraystare · 02/04/2021 08:57

No it wasn't! I don't normally hear the Psych patients at night. They usually start off in the morning yelling to one another ( I live in the grounds of a hospital and work at another!).

We are trying to persuade the powers that be to get rid of the door at work that is between us and the patients that come in to be assessed so it becomes part of the wall again, so no more knocking!

Squirrel26 · 02/04/2021 09:17

I have a feeling I had a dream about Neighbours last night (the Australian soap opera, not my actual neighbours.) I've no idea why; I haven't watched it for years.

Champagneforeveryone · 02/04/2021 10:09

No eggy, all is well Chez Champagne.

We mused on the powerful impact of not providing a lift, but felt that as it was the first time DS has met with friends since before Christmas that was a churlish thing to do. DH went to ask what time he wanted dropping off but DS apologised before he could say anything probably because he wanted a lift

DS and friends are now hiking to a campsite 8 miles away to take a look around, before catching the train back. I've refrained from mentioning the campsite is unlikely to be thrilled by the unannounced arrival of 6 hairy teens, and that the trains will not be running properly as its Good Friday and waved him cheerily off. We await a phone call!

I also suspect that after a lifetime of hiking with Scouts, DS will find this a very different prospect as none of his friends are regular walkers. They seem to have alighted on the idea of hiking as a way to meet up without breaching any Covid rules, rather than a burning desire to hike anywhere Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/04/2021 10:19

DD just walked in carrying a step ladder. Apparently she wants to take photos of my cacti to sent to a friend. I am waking them up in a warm and light spot at the moment.

BlueSkyBlinking · 02/04/2021 12:41

DD is making a complicated Easter egg hunt for everyone in the house. She has been to Easter egg hunts before and found them rubbish. So she is fixing the problem by making her own. There will be clues and trails for every member of the house, and prizes.

All this means that for now I can MN in peace on the sofa!
