Ahh, busy couple of days at work getting everyone safely and sanely to the end of term... and breathe...
No dull news as it has been too manic to be dull! Booking in walks with friends and friends children for the next couple of weeks which is so nice.

Sunbird24 · 31/03/2021 22:42

Just tired, still nothing happening. I want it over with. At least I don’t have to be physically back in work until Tuesday.

Frownette · 31/03/2021 22:44

Helena that sounds lovely. It's strange getting freedoms again.

Frownette · 31/03/2021 22:45

Aw Sun sorry, crossover, are you with parents now?

Sunbird24 · 31/03/2021 22:54

No, going down on Friday. Still avoiding people for now!

Frownette · 31/03/2021 23:15

Yeah, actually sometimes you need to retreat a bit in order to pause and regroup. It's like too much other noise going on.
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/04/2021 07:14

Slightly exciting: I have a phone appointment with an org. that helps transition AS people into work / dual education (different to the UK system I think). I hope for a few pointers on what to prepare for with DS.

Rainy here.

Champagneforeveryone · 01/04/2021 07:48

Day 3 of the dull and unexciting course beckons me onwards. Back to work proper on Friday, this will be a night shift so I can only begin to imagine what fun that will be Hmm

Therainisback · 01/04/2021 08:04

Still sitting here in my dressing gown. I have to be at work in an hour. Full on day of bedlam, then 4 days off, must move . . .
Nydj sounds similar to mine, I think it's a side effect ( I too am medically clueless).
Frownette poor little dog, will your neighbour keep him?

Frownette · 01/04/2021 08:23

@Therainisback I don't know - they left instructions where the dog was and took him home. I'm hoping owner just got delayed somewhere but will find out later.

The neighbours bought him a bone dog treat so he was wagging his tail when they took him off! It was getting late, they didn't want leave him overnight.

HelenaJustina · 01/04/2021 08:45

Dropped DC1 at the bus as they don’t break up until later today, had a meeting on site at 7.30am, cleared up some admin, ordered a gift and flowers for a new baby’s arrival and now off for a run before heading home! Smashing my Thursday so far...

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/04/2021 09:03

I am doing foot exercises - ballet toes and pull backs and it is hard work.
No sun, but day temperatures are supposed to stay above 0°.

I never thought I would say this: I look forward to cleaning the flat.

Sunbird24 · 01/04/2021 11:45

My best friend sent me flowers but I don’t have a vase. I had to decant my instant coffee into other receptacles so that I could use the jar instead.

Frownette · 01/04/2021 12:33

Oh that's nice.

I had to postpone being on site until Tuesday as I've got bad fever today which is a shame.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/04/2021 13:54

My phone appointment went better than expected. I now know about assistance available for DS on his way into independence and I am feeling less stressed and more calm.

Now back to practice ballet toes. My toes have turned a lovely shade of greenish yellow.

Champagneforeveryone · 01/04/2021 14:12

I've finished the assessment part of the dull and unexciting course. My colleague next to me is swearing fluently under her breath and there's a reasonable amount of huffing and slapping of pens and paper on the desk. It's probably safe to say it's not going well Grin

Champagneforeveryone · 01/04/2021 14:12

Erm, that's nice prok.

Is that a desirable state of affairs?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/04/2021 14:22

Champagne
According to the internet it's a sign that things are improving. Admittedly 'lovely' is perhaps not quite the right word Grin.

Sunbird24 · 01/04/2021 15:15

Foreign colleague, knowing that I am off work for sensitive personal reasons, has gone to a manager FOUR levels higher than me about arranging this bastard VTC. No excuse, he’s got contact details for my direct supervisor!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/04/2021 15:20
Hmm
Frownette · 01/04/2021 15:30

What's VTC? Blush

The news depressed me a bit earlier, I'm not reading any more today

Sunbird24 · 01/04/2021 15:34

It’s a Video Conference @Frownette. Not the kind of thing that senior management need to dragged into involvement with unless it’s with other managers at their level. Certainly not when it’s supposed to be between people at my level

MissConductUS · 01/04/2021 15:48

Sunbird, that's awful. He's just making himself look like an ass by doing that. It's lovely that your friend sent flowers. Treat yourself by ordering a nice vase online.

I am taking Monday off. DH's tyre is still leaking air, so the wheel has to be replaced. He had to take DS's car to work today. It also needs a NY state inspection (MOT?) and to have the winter tyres taken off and the normal ones put on, so we're dropping it off at the dealership on Sunday and they'll take care of it all. DS's car needs it's annual inspection so they're going to do that on Monday as well. We'll be down to one car on Monday but since DH and I will both be off it shouldn't be a problem.

I heard on NPR (National Public Radio) this morning the sad tale of Hammersmith bridge near London and the cancelation of the annual Oxford Cambridge crew meet. As a crew mum, this made me sad. DD is going to start rowing at uni this month.

We have a new staff member who is a British ex-pat. She's lovely and every time I talk to her I think of all my friends on MN. Smile

Yes, the Hammersmith Bridge shenanigans have caused massive problems for ages, MissConduct - I don’t live anywhere near there (luckily perhaps) but it’s a regular story on our local TV news.

The Boat Race is happening, though. It’s been located to the Great Ouse at Ely, in Cambridgeshire. It’s this Sunday.

HildaTablet · 01/04/2021 15:56

The Boat Race has been re located, that should have said....
