@Sunbird24 so sorry for your loss Flowers it is so utterly shit and still not widely spoken about enough. It happens to so many of us and we carry it silently. Hope you’ve got some good real life support, take care of yourself.

Nydj · 29/03/2021 19:45

@Sunbird24 I am so very sorry Flowers, Brew, Cake and lots of virtual hugs to you xx

Therainisback · 29/03/2021 20:21

Sunbird so sorry. I agree with Helena, it isn't talked about as it should be. Please feel safe to vent on here. Flowers
Been AWOL lately - busiest 2 weeks of the year at work for me.
Have just had 1/2 an hour sewing to soothe my frazzled nerves.

Frownette · 29/03/2021 20:55

Sun please talk if it's helpful. We're all here.

I still am a bit feverish (tonsils) but quite enthused about getting back into action later this week. So that will galvanize me. I'm lucky. I just need to find my passport and wash all the fever off of me and remember how to put on makeup. It really helped seeing my friend earlier.

forgetthehousework · 29/03/2021 21:21

@Sunbird24 Flowers

We went out for an unnecessary drive, to a viewing point, and looked out at the world spread before us.
Worked out that its just a few weeks before we have a weekend in Wales booked - if they let us in that is .....

Silkiescat · 29/03/2021 22:10

Silkiecat seems to love the teddy bear bedding from Dunelm though they need an extension for the tail.

Frownette · 29/03/2021 22:21

Silkiecat certainly looks comfortable

Sunbird24 · 29/03/2021 22:22

So cute Silkie

Frownette · 29/03/2021 22:30

You ok sweetheart?

Sunbird24 · 29/03/2021 22:39

Yeah, I will be. Taking a couple of days off work to wallow in self-pity, and spending the weekend with my parents. Thank you

Silkiescat · 30/03/2021 03:46

Thanks Sunbird and Frownette

Flowers Sunbird I hope you can get some rest tonight.

I can't sleep think its the shock of actually going out in the day Grin I will go and watch Netflix, watching the Dolly Parton ones, I blame lockdown!

Sunbird24 · 30/03/2021 04:11

Still awake, just can’t switch off. Glad I don’t have to go into work today.

Because I haven’t responded to his email from yesterday morning a foreign colleague has messaged me several times on my mobile suggesting dates for a video call. He has my number as he was over here in our office for a couple of months last autumn, but I really hate that he used it for this. I’ve sent him a message to say I’m off work for a couple of days due to bad news and will get in touch when I can.

Silkiescat · 30/03/2021 04:36

That sounds more than reasonable Sunbird he shouldn't be contacting your mobile.

When I can't sleep I normally watch something on Neflix or Discovery Plus. I'm just about to watch 90 day fiance. The last 2 episodes of the Dolly Parton thing where just too awful to watch.

If you need someone to talk to I'll be here though. I went through IVF for my first and it was horrible and my SIL did it 5 times in her 40s to get her little girl, she had to go abroad alone as well as they live in France and it wasn't allowed there as she used donor eggs in the end. Two years off work but now she has her little girl and a full-time job again. Do you have any pets? Cats are good to cuddle if you have one. Ours was a kitten when I did IVF and she would swing on the top of the door frame whilst DH was injecting me.

Sunbird24 · 30/03/2021 04:40

I’m currently on Antiques Roadshow.
Can’t have pets where I am at the mo, but did previously foster cats - I remember two of them taking up sentry when I had bronchitis and slept on the sofa, one on my chest and one on my feet. They do know don’t they?
I was weirdly ok with the last miscarriage, this one has hit me harder.

Silkiescat · 30/03/2021 04:54

That's a shame you can't have a cat, they are good company even when grumpy. We rented a house once which said no pets and phoned and they were OK with a cat and said no pets meant no dogs Confused Though the cat did rather a lot of clawing the carpet. Blush

Squirrel26 · 30/03/2021 08:41

I couldn’t sleep last night so I read Gardner’s World magazine. All about container gardening for small plots and growing beetroot from seed. Sent me right off. Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/03/2021 11:09

NDN has climbed his roof and is sunbathing (first warm day of the year). Student flatshare on the other side are cleaning up their balcony. I ventured out to my work desk to catch the light.

The table is still full of DH's papers, so I've decided to create a piece of art and add to it (stones, an umbrella, ornaments, a bread basket etc.).

Champagneforeveryone · 30/03/2021 12:40

I'm on a course - it is extremely dull so perfect for this thread. The upside is there is a canteen on site and I genuinely feel like I'm eating out Grin

Deathraystare · 30/03/2021 12:49

I am completely hopeless. I never learn. Yesterday I went out to drop a present off at a friend's house. On the way i went to Tesco and Boots. After my purchases i got on the tube, dropped the presents off and went to her local shop to buy some stuff. Not only was my bank card not there but also my laundry card (where I am we have to pay online and touch screen with a card). I am so pissed off at myself. They were loose in my pocket. I did not have a purse or handbag with me. I cannot think that someone was near enough to take them. I must have dropped them. I dunno. Anyway I have just rung up Barclays and they are sending out another one. I have £40 on my laundry card which I won't get back :( Serves me right!

On a high note (!!!) I met a friend at the hospital and four of us have not made a will so we are planning when we can get together to do just that! Also do funeral plans so I am (sort of) growing up now!

MissConductUS · 30/03/2021 13:05

Cats are good company when you're not feeling well. The last time I was unwell and in bed one of our climbed under the duvet and snuggled next to me until I got up. Of course, he might have just been stealing my body heat. Smile

Deathray, sorry to hear about your laundry card. Everyone should have a will. We did ours after 9/11. If you do your own it's worth it to pay a solicitor to review it.

@MissConductUS

Thanks but my own stupid fault! I would deffo go down the solicitor route with all my millions (Ha Ha).

@Champagneforeveryone Huh! I remember when courses provided free tea/coffe/sandwiches. They don't seem to now. Only bit I looked forward to!!!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/03/2021 13:53

I took a course on tender law in construction (Vergaberecht ?) last week - it was via web ex and I provided myself with a lot of coffee and biscuits Grin.

Spudlet · 30/03/2021 14:13

DS and I are just back from posting a parcel to a friend. The post office in the village was a victim of the floods so a mobile post office visits once a week. I’ve never been before - it’s very cool, literally a complete miniature post office in the back of a transit van. I’m not sure quite what I was expecting, but that’s what it is.

Sunbird24 · 30/03/2021 14:25

I have eaten a small packet of pork scratchings and an entire box of orange matchmakers. My maternity knickers arrived but I’ll get plenty of use out of them as it’ll take a while to lose the lockdown lard

Oh yes they absolutely do.

I had some trouble getting hold of non-penicillin Antibiotics but luckily back home now clutching them. My GP is very good so she approved it to local pharmacy so I could just walk there and pick it up. Hopefully end now to fever and difficulty swallowing and breathing.

Hope you can relax at parents Sun
