I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Ahh, I thought the etiquette was to let you finish then start afresh!

My scintillating news is that I'm tired.

EggyPegg · 20/03/2021 21:32

Marvellous. Thank you @MissConductUS.

I had a momentary panic when I saw the thread was at 1000 and thought you hadn't had chance to link to the new one, so it pleased me to see that you bookended it again.

Excellent news on the chair wheels Prok. Might it also serve as a wheelchair alternative for you to rest your foot?

I have started a new crochet project tonight. I am ignoring the two already in progress. Today I made my first ever applique elephant to go on it.

I cooked a roast chicken then didn’t fancy it, so chucked it in the slow cooker with some wholemeal couscous and other bits and made a chicken stodge. It doesn’t sound very appetising but tastes like a roast dinner.

Liddelingland · 20/03/2021 22:24

My 16yo son just now came and said "Mum, the top of my wardrobe is dusty, what should I do about it?". Marvelling at this sudden and unexpected new phase in his development, I got the vacuum cleaner and duster out and helped him to use them. When he used the hose on the thick layer of wardrobe dust he actually said "That is very satisfying!" And while I was in his room I looked around and realised he had fully tidied and organised it, without being asked!

Miracles do happen!

EggyPegg · 20/03/2021 22:48

Welcome @Liddelingland.

Miracles do happen indeed! And it is satisfying to get up that thick layer of dust. That's the real reason I am so slovenly, honest...

Frownette · 20/03/2021 23:04

Well quite right Eggy! (Love your crochet)

So @Liddlelingland there was a masterplan behind it. He was only pretending to not care before.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 20/03/2021 23:23

@Sunbird24 whats a chicken stodge? It sounds interesting

dreadfuldays · 21/03/2021 00:22

I've just ordered my self McDonalds and I'm going to eat it while rewatching line of duty. Dc 2 is in bed. I have nothing to look forward to in my life but now I've just realised we have just little over 3 weeks left before some normality. I looked into my wardrobe today and realised I really need to wear my trench coat this year, so I'm hoping weather will be warmer and sunnier and I can pop my trench coat on, wear my sunglasses, straighten my hair and wear make up and head down to the shops on April 12th and maybe sit and enjoy a lunch in a pub garden but it will probably be packed if weathers nice. Oh how we have taken the most simple pleasures in life for granted :(

thisgardenlife · 21/03/2021 00:51

I missed the other thread but this is just my cup of tea so I'm delighted to have the opportunity to tell you about some good bits of my day.

After 2 years of befuddlement over an area in our conservatory (problem low walls) that I could just see in my minds eye would be perfect for a desk with bookshelves above but until now had been defeated by the windows behind and the tape measure, today we solved the conundrum.

We've ordered white Ikea blinds to cover up the glass on that side (the fence is just a couple of feet from the glass) and have cobbled together a clever fold-up desk, 2 Ikea MOPPE little chests to sit on the windowsill with a shallow bookcase on top behind the desk - and it will be perfect.:)

I put some lipstick.
I tried out my new No.7 line boosting serum which arrived this morning. (Takes 5 years off, apparently...)
I did some dusting (including a couple of skirting boards while I was passing).
I read the paper (but that was a mistake).

@dreadfuldays I love the trenchcoat plan. I have one in the loft - you have inspired me to go and hunt it down. And I will look out some shades too - it's sunshine ahead.

dreadfuldays · 21/03/2021 01:12

@thisgardenlife maybe we should start a thread to get everyone to find their trenchcoats Grinoh I cannot wait to not to look like slob anymore

Fiercestcalm · 21/03/2021 01:28

Cleaning out the kitchen cupboards is taking a very long time. 3 bottles of nearly empty golden syrup, I obviously have a shopping fetish for pine nuts ( 4 open bags) and lots of sea salt.... neighbours often give me honey and we have pots and pots of the stuff .... dogs are stalking the floor in case an imaginary side of beef falls onto the floor, rather than the odd red lentil, rolled oats and a soft cornflake... their hopes are always high but live in perpetual disappointment.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/03/2021 01:46

eggy
It is DH's office chair that is now no longer threatening to iip him over.
No use to me as he is in there 10 h a day.

mathanxiety · 21/03/2021 03:48

Greetings all!

Waved DD3 off to DD1's for Spring Break. We got to the airport early. She got through security without any problems and walked miles and miles to her gate. Her flight took off on time and landed within five minutes of posted schedule.

mathanxiety · 21/03/2021 03:49

When I got home I added a few songs to an 80s playlist I have been putting together, inspired by the station I was listening to on the car radio.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/03/2021 07:20

Raining here with near to 0 temps.
I intend to write long letters to relatives in carehomes today. Phoning is no longer an option.

Spudlet · 21/03/2021 08:20

I so, so nearly got DS to go back to sleep this morning so we could all have a Sunday snooze. I was so close. I could almost feel the lovely soft fluffy pillow and the snuggly duvet. His eyelids were going! No dice though 😑

Thank you to everyone who offered kind words on the last thread - feeling much better about it all now. 😊

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/03/2021 08:52

The mating call of the common crow is not the most melodius.

EggyPegg · 21/03/2021 09:10

Bad luck Spud. I know that feeling of hope as their eyes go. And then ping! Good morning!

My two have gone to sleep listening to asleep meditation story for the last two nights. Yesterday morning they both told me (independently) how fast they'd fallen asleep and how deeply they had slept, so I put it on for them again last night. DS2 was gone in 10 minutes.

Sunbird24 · 21/03/2021 09:52

@NotanotherboxofFrogs it’s just whatever I had to hand shoved in the slow cooker to save it going out of date! In this case, roast chicken and stuffing, wholewheat couscous, carrots and swede. It’s come out like a kind of savoury porridge or risotto but I’ve separated it into takeaway boxes so some can go in the freezer and some can go in the fridge. I can either eat it as is with additional veg, or use it as a base for soup by adding more liquid.

EggyPegg · 21/03/2021 10:43

I am feeling very accomplished as I have finally got round to attaching the trampoline anchors that arrived last week.

They're meant to be to secure it in case of high winds (it ended up in next doors garden last year) but actually, I've bought them to stop the DC tipping it over as DS1 in particular likes to ricochet off the net on one side.

It is gloriously sunny out there and I have my washing on the whirly-gig.

Champagneforeveryone · 21/03/2021 10:50

It sounds lovely sunbird. DH and DS are slightly fussier and would definitely be suspicious of "stodge", but I have much lower standards Grin

prok our village is full of crows, there are several rookeries in the big trees and the noise is constant. We are big fans of the crows (and are able to park our cars away from the trees) so they are a source of enjoyment to us, but I know they drive some of our neighbours to distraction.

DS is cooking lunch today, DH is on Zoom church and I'm still in bed in preparation for a late shift this afternoon. I may need to fill the car up later this week. It's surprising what a difference the twice daily college run makes.

Sunbird24 · 21/03/2021 10:54

At least one of next door’s kids has been having a tantrum for approximately 50 minutes, including kicking something which sounds like it’s attached to the party wall. It’s definitely performance screaming, as dad’s been in and calmly said to him that he can come downstairs when he stops. I’m almost impressed.
The neighbour from the other side of them is popping round at 11 to discuss cutting my grass for me over the summer as it’s a very long round trip from where I work to my house, and that’s only going to get harder to do as my waistline expands...

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/03/2021 11:22

champagagne
Inner city here and I love all the wildliefe we have (quite a suprising amount), it's just that this particular crow is sitting by my bedroom window negotiating nests and stuff with their future mate.

Nydj · 21/03/2021 11:24

Hello all, @EggyPegg, that is a gorgeous elephant!
Thank you for the new thread @MissConductUS.
I have been watching the live feed of the Iceland volcanic eruption that someone posted on another thread and have found it fascinating and strangely calming - why is watching molten rocks slowly cascade down a small slope so therapeutic?

Silkies · 21/03/2021 11:48

Hi everyone. Love the elephant Eggy

We seemed to have acquired a mouse in the house, he's very cute and I've named him Rodrigo but we are trying to relocate him outside. The cat is very happy to have Rodrigo in the house but as she's 16 and he can out smart her pretty easily.

Other than that DH got the all clear Grin and the kids are finally back at school, back a week now and another week before Easter. DD had the othodontist, I did all the tax returns and there's been lots of maths comps. And I finally got DS GCSE options out of him and EHCP assessment is applied for.
