@silkies. You definitely need a human. Is it because they'll need to share a room?

Ha! I knew that song so well, the amount of people that sang it to me.
Parts of my childhood were not great, but that part was lovely and I feel very at home if I ever go back to the Common.

Silkies · 22/03/2021 22:16

I haven't called them yet as it was quite late when they called and also I need to see if I can find a workable alternative but they said the apartment is two twin beds or 1 double and a sofabed. And they said the sofa bed is small. DS is small but DD is about 5 foot 7. Though DD will rush in and grab the bed for herself. I'm not sure if they are saying we can't stay there or want to discuss it. They just said the booking system should not have allowed it but the booking system doesn't really work.

Glad it worked out for you and DH Eggy

Champagneforeveryone · 22/03/2021 23:40

How annoying silkie, I'm bereft on your behalf about the possible lack of helicopters Sad Grin

Silkies · 23/03/2021 00:19

I think I may have a solution but I just tried to book it, it accepted it but then didn't charge, said to send deposit but not to where and not sent me an email or text yet. It's a different date but should still work though I wish they would get on and confirm as helicopter is selling out fast. Do they not realise the urgency of this problem? Grin

Silkies · 23/03/2021 00:26

And the pricing is very strange online 4 adults is £80 a night cheaper than 2 adults, 2 teenagers. That might be wise though Grin

Amorousfrog · 23/03/2021 00:40

I’m eating honey on toast and drinking an energy drink. Ready to go to sleep 😴

mathanxiety · 23/03/2021 04:22

I spotted a patch of daffodils in bloom this morning. Took a photo.

For the last year I have been moaning to myself on and off that the wonderful, big, local art museum has of course been closed. I had an annual membership for a few years and it was lovely to hop onto the train and swan in past the lines of tourists. I got a free cup of tea and a tote bag the first time I visited with my membership card. I should have opted for the coffee, but heyho.

It suddenly struck me that I have about 60 photos on my phone of my favourite art and artifacts which I took on my visits, and a few of DD4 and her best friend looking bored out of their minds and rather grim. So I spent a nice hour today enjoying a virtual visit.

On the windmill topic, DN married the daughter of a miller. The family have been millers for centuries, well documented for family tree purposes.

No flowers in bloom here still to little light and warmth.

The chimney sweep is due at 11am for the annual

I apologise in advance for any excitement this may cause but...was in A&E yesterday for most of the day having various tests. I self-diagnosed that I had an occurence of a lung infection and Dr Deathray was right!

So many blood tests and that thing where pads are put on your body (ECG?). I have to have an ECHO but have to try to get to the doctor. I tried yesterday but you have to phone. I did not have my phone with me and it is payg so £10 would have gone as soon (ha ha) as I got through. I will have to ring at work today as I need to give them the paperwork from the hospital and they have to arrange for the ECHO and check my sky high bp.

Kind of weird being out of puff - I am shuffling like an old woman! Considering my friends usually complain that I am surging ahead of them, now I am tortoise slow!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/03/2021 08:49

@Deathraystare - Alle the best to you and a speedy recovery!

I was lucky the hospital I was in had free Wifi and I took a power bank for areas without power outlets for patients.

Champagneforeveryone · 23/03/2021 08:54

It's fascinating to hear how differently spring is approaching for you all. This is the stream outside my house this morning Smile

Champagne Lovely place!
DBil sent pictures of flowers and them feeding swans undere freshly green trees. At DMil's place the magnolias are in bloom and here - nothing apart from a few timid green tips of bulbs (Winterlinge).

Squirrel26 · 23/03/2021 10:03

I remember the 93 @EggyPegg! Did it go to Putney? I think I used to get it to visit 4 of my friends who shared a 3 bedroom flat. (The 4th lived in a cupboard. Genuinely a cupboard.)

I went to uni in Tooting, so I lived there, and then in Colliers Wood and South Wimbledon for about 7 years.

Deathraystare · 23/03/2021 13:11

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

Thanks Prok!

I am feeling better but it is amazing how low you can feel, isn't it? I was even teary!

MangoChutnee · 23/03/2021 15:27

I'm eating giant wotsits out of a salad spinner bowl.

It's quite sunny today.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/03/2021 16:09

Another food I need to google (googled) - luckily not my thing. Enjoy!

The weather has not improved, but my foot has. The stiches seem to heal nicely and I could cut down on pain killers.

Death - Especially when it is something internal. I could see my foot and knew what was wrong with it. But the worrying boredom of waits between stuff in hospital ...

Ninkanink · 23/03/2021 16:10

Mmmmmmm Wotsits. I can eat bucketloads at a time...

forgetthehousework · 23/03/2021 16:39

I have YouTube on in the background and am watching, live, as a volcano erupts in Iceland (lava flow rather than Hollywood spectacular boulders and mass destruction) and it is totally amazing! Sorry if I'm getting too excited but, when you stop to think about it, watching a valley in a different country get slowly covered in molten lava, as it actually happens, is just so incredible.
I'm guessing there's a scientific expedition there because every so often a helicopter takes off and circles, and someone carrying various equipment has been to check the camera too. Science and nature, wow!

Beats going shopping to Asda, (our morning expedition), into a cocked hat!

My husband has several medical conditions, and he says he doesn't want to know what he hasn't got, he wants to know what he has got. It's not very helpful when they they "well, we've checked and you haven't got so-and-so".

It's a process called differential diagnosis, and it can be a bit tedious. You test for the most likely cause of the problem, eliminate it, then move on to the next. The principle is captured by the old medical adage "If you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras".

Mmmmmm. Wotsits.

Spring has sprung here. Next doors magnolia is starting to bloom.

forgetthehousework · 23/03/2021 18:14

My DH also has several medical problems. Actually it's quite nice when they find one he hasn't got Wink

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/03/2021 18:47

Our white goods (oven, fridge and washing machine) have decided to pack it in at the same time. They are all more than 25 years old, but there was no need for them to team up.

HelenaJustina · 23/03/2021 18:54

@Prokupatuscrakedatus very bad form for them to gang up on you! Enjoy the white goods shopping...

MissConductUS · 23/03/2021 20:19

This may be a bit too exciting, but our favorite Tex/Mex takeaway has just announced on Facebook that they are reopening on Thursday after closing for the winter. We are all pretty jazzed about it. They do an amazing crispy steak taco.
