I'm moving this weekend. Collecting keys on Saturday.
What will I forget to do?

I don't know but I'm moving soon so I'm following this thread!

Good luck with the move

Check random places at old house (outside cupboard, shed, etc)

Lochnessgiraffe · 15/03/2021 20:40

That's on my list to do. Anything else?

Take time date stamped pictures of your meters if they claim a debt and it goes to debt management that will be invaluable

Bins! Is someone moving in right away? Do they need space are they due to be collected?

Empty the attic and the shed

rubyredring · 15/03/2021 20:42

@rubyredring

Order a supermarket grocery delivery
Change the address on your account or it will go astray
Elieza · 15/03/2021 20:47

Empty the fridge. Leave the kettle, mugs and teabags at the top of the first box you unpack Grin

Littlefiendsusan · 15/03/2021 20:48

Don't forget to put the box with the mugs, kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits on the van last so it's the first thing off at your new place.

Lochnessgiraffe · 15/03/2021 20:48

I'll talk to bt to cancel as we won't need it.. I'll order supermarket for the next day I think we'll get a takeaway on Sat night.

Sheepareawesome · 15/03/2021 20:49

Take your dressing gown off the back of the bedroom door. You won't see it because the door will be open.

Lochnessgiraffe · 15/03/2021 20:53

bluntlyspoken great list thanksSmile

Totally not in the must do box, but it's lovely to have fresh bedding prepared. Change your duvet cover and pillow cases, roll it all up in a bag/box with a fresh undersheet and transport it yourself if needed. Then you can simply unroll it, pop the sheet on the mattress and all ready for your first night in your new home.

That along with making sure you have kettle, mugs, teabags and a carton of UHT to hand. Again precious cargo you might want to transport yourself! Grin

Lochnessgiraffe · 15/03/2021 20:55

littlefiendsusan that's good. I'll need to offer the movers a tea or coffee

squishee · 15/03/2021 21:10

Take outside doormat.

Akire · 15/03/2021 21:15

Spend time now changing your address on PayPal Amazon Deliveroo etc. Or you will do a quick shop or order then realise on the day it’s gone to the old place.

Take photos of the back of your TV or any complicated sound systems and the like. When it’s all a mass of wires you appreciate it.

Pantsomime · 15/03/2021 21:15

Hose reel if on wall of house unless you are leaving it. Note for incinerator for where the stopcocks are - ask your agent for written details of where you will find your new one. Washing line if it’s a stick in ground umbrella style one

Pantsomime · 15/03/2021 21:16

New people not incinerator

RosesAndHellebores · 15/03/2021 21:18

Don't do what the previous tenants of my first house did - not flush!
