My respect for the Duchess has just shot up. For a Royal, this is pretty bold and brave.

Not forgetting other women - if you attended the vigil tonight, thank you for sticking up for women's rights. Let's hope this is an opportunity for the Met Police to review and change how they treat both offending officers and female victims

If this wasn't a PR stunt, she'd have worn a mask...then she'd really have gone unnoticed.

itsgettingwierd · 13/03/2021 21:37

@Wishitsnows

I think it's great she went PR move or not it's really important she went
This.

Anyone who doesn't believe this was a PR move in any way is naive. But for me it's important they make the right OR moves and this was one of them.

Plus of course she had security. Doesn't mean before being future queen she didn't experience the real fear felt by woman. In fact she probably understands it more because she now has the luxury of not feeling that fear with her entourage.

I respect her showing solidarity and I respect the royals backing something so important.

This story is shocking. RIP Sarah and may your family and friends find strength and peace in the future.

I couldn't care less about Kate. I just see a woman in her 30s paying her respects to another woman of a similar age. Many of us have been affected by Sarah Everard's death. Isn't Kate allowed to be?

FedNlanders · 13/03/2021 21:41

I'm glad she went. Thank you Kate and everyone that went.

OhWhyNot · 13/03/2021 21:42

I’m glad she did I believe her intentions are honest from herself

But this is a pr move by the palace too

She wasn’t even wearing a mask as the vast majority of others were to make sure it was known she was there

Praise form certain areas of the press would this have been the same for Megan absolutely not

Bluntness100 · 13/03/2021 21:42

@OneFamilyToRuleUsAll

Yes, The Duchess of Cambridge, the wife of the man who'd be the King of England someday went somewhere and "wasn't expecting" to be noticed and snapped. Exceptional Kate. It wasn't enough she went but she has to be painted as a saint with not even a thought for publicity, ever...unlike 'evil Meghan'. Kate's Fan club members and their theory never cease to amaze me. Hmm
What do you want her to do. Not go? What’s wrong with what she did in your eyes? It’s nothing to do with Meghan, I’m sure she’d have done the same if she was in thr uk. Don’t make it a completion, a woman died. She paid her respects. Leave it there, not everything needs to be a war.
PoochiePlush · 13/03/2021 21:43

@Wobblesandchickuns

Hmm looks like a PR move to cynical me...
I though the same....

If it's a PR stunt it is one that keeps the problem of male violence in the headlines. I can't resent that.

I'm glad that she went.

Devlesko · 13/03/2021 21:44

RIP Sarah Thanks
I'm sure you wouldn't have wanted this pantomime. Sad

Vargas · 13/03/2021 21:44

I think it was lovely that she went. No one would have said anything if she hadn't gone, and she kept it as low key as possible. Good on her.

I was there about an hour before her. Hardly anyone was wearing a mask.

Ironfloor269 · 13/03/2021 21:48

The royal family are really panicking now, aren't they? Trying hard to pull their socks up and pretend to be interested in the peasants to resurrect the popularity of the monarchy.. 😂

The other day, Sophie (Edward's wife) visited a community fridge in a village in Surrey...!

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 13/03/2021 21:48

A great big Hmm at those criticising her because she didn't do X Y and Z. I'm pretty cynical but I don't believe this was a publicity stunt. She paid her respects and that will go a long way with a lot of people.

Even if it is a PR 'stunt' it is a statement. A statement I thought she was too 'vanillla' to make.

Thewithesarehere · 13/03/2021 21:49

Imagine the vitriol if it was MM. She would be called attention seeking and using the murder of a girl for publicity.

Horribly cynical of the palace to seize the vigil as an opportunity to curry favour.

As to all the protests about KM being filmed, how else could the palace ensure everyone knew she was there if they didn't put her in a position to be noticed?

Gosh it's shocking how easily manipulated so many people are.

I agree she needed to be seen

If Megan had attended agree the headlines would be vicious as would some of the posts on here

Benjispruce2 · 13/03/2021 21:52

Good for her. I shone my torch tonight. No others n my street. Sad Sad.
