My respect for the Duchess has just shot up. For a Royal, this is pretty bold and brave.

Not forgetting other women - if you attended the vigil tonight, thank you for sticking up for women's rights. Let's hope this is an opportunity for the Met Police to review and change how they treat both offending officers and female victims

I'm so pleased she went. It's the thing she's done that I most respect her for.

RolloTomassi · 13/03/2021 20:40

Good for her.

Number3BigCupOfTea · 13/03/2021 20:41

The narrative before the push back from women was ''stay safe, stay in pairs, walk with a friend, don't go out alone''. The usual. Telling women not to get killed. Some police and internet warriors tell women that ''it's just common sense'' to follow these guidelines. Wanting the freedom to go out is ignoring this ''common sense''. But she literally could not have been doing anything more 'safe' .

Hopefully I’m not being naively led by PR here, but from what has leaked she just looked like any other woman deeply affected by this and wanting to show respect.

Just a normal woman then. Good on her.

Number3BigCupOfTea · 13/03/2021 20:42

That was to @Keeping2ChevronsApart I thought it was obvious what I meant so bit surprised to be queried on it but, there is my response.

littlbrowndog · 13/03/2021 20:44

💪💪💪

FreakOfNature · 13/03/2021 20:53

At first glance she looks alone but watch carefully, every person in that video is part of her security. Exceptionally slick moves, she clearly gets about a lot but with minimum of fuss. Hats off to her x

Doingitaloneandproud · 13/03/2021 20:53

From the look of the photos she wasn't expecting to be snapped, she looks like she's been affected by the news also. She could have simply wanted to show her respect.

en0la · 13/03/2021 20:54

Why didn't she take flowers?

GreenChips · 13/03/2021 20:55

I don't really think it's brave to be driven somewhere and have security with you (even if they weren't visible they were there!) at an event.

This was a complete PR move and wouldn't have happened if the Meghan stuff hadn't happened this week.

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 13/03/2021 20:57

@en0la

Why didn't she take flowers?
JFC does it matter?!

On that note I wish fewer people would take flowers. They end up rotting and no one ever takes the (500 years to decompose) plastic wrapping off them.

Good on her.

The majority of women know the fear, it's constantly in the back of our minds. RIP Sarah

RaspberryCoulis · 13/03/2021 21:03

Well done Kate. Obviously an issue she feels strongly about.

Maybe she simply isn't thinking about the Meghan circus and instead just showing respect for a young lady murdered.
LaCerbiatta · 13/03/2021 21:14

OMG why is everne so naive? Couldn't be more obvious this is a PR move...

LaCerbiatta · 13/03/2021 21:14

*everyone

LaurieFairyCake · 13/03/2021 21:15

She did absolutely the right thing

Thank you if you're on here for drawing attention to it

GoLightlyontheEarth · 13/03/2021 21:16

I think it was great she went. Respect.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 13/03/2021 21:17

Not physically brave, brave as in making a statement.

Mayormaynothavehadit · 13/03/2021 21:18

Oh fgs stop with mentioning Meghan, it's NOT about her. I'm really glad the Duchess went today, she was dressed in a very understated way and looked very sombre just like everyone else there I would imagine. Maybe the bit of film was taken innocently initially and then the phone owner realised who it was and carried on filming for a few seconds more. Good on her for going and paying her respects. I'm definitely sure there are days when she feels scared too being in such a high profile position.

Nightbear · 13/03/2021 21:18

The Met Police have had plenty of opportunities to review how they treat female victims.

BigBamboo · 13/03/2021 21:18

Total hats off to Kate.
We will be lucky to have her as our Queen.

Mayormaynothavehadit · 13/03/2021 21:19

LaCerbiatta

Sisterhood eh? Hmm

Blessex · 13/03/2021 21:19

Thank you Kate. One word. Genuine.

Dingleydel · 13/03/2021 21:20

I think it’s great that she did this. She’s given her backing to something so important. Yes it’s a good PR move but I’d also assume it was more than that for her. I dare say she’s experienced her own share of misogyny like most women.
