My respect for the Duchess has just shot up. For a Royal, this is pretty bold and brave.

Not forgetting other women - if you attended the vigil tonight, thank you for sticking up for women's rights. Let's hope this is an opportunity for the Met Police to review and change how they treat both offending officers and female victims

@JameSMiddletonsMarshmallows
you're on other threads talking about MM being a victim of the RF but Kate part of the same family is responsible for the actions of her uncle in law?

Please show me where I have mentioned 'her uncle' on here in the context of Kate.
I haven't.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 14/03/2021 10:21

Ultimately, herein lies the problem. Women criticising and verbally attacking women gives men their imagined permission to do the same, verbally or otherwise. Now, more than ever, we need to show that we have each others backs and will NOT be ignored...

frogswimming · 14/03/2021 10:22

@Roussette

I like to think that as a woman who has been chased by a horde of men for a decade (albeit with cameras), and as the mother of a daughter, she felt strongly about the murder of a woman by a man

I am sure this is the case too.

However, far more powerful for me is Jess Phillips MP who, year on year, on International Womens Day, reads out the names in the Houses of Parliament of all those women who have been killed by men . The names took 4 minutes to read out Sad

Isn't that good reason for duchess of c to attend. To reach some of the unconverted rather than those already on board with the problem?

Oh I thought it flagged it up to MNHQ. Shows what I know 🥴

And totally get your suspicions bow @OneFamilyToRuleUsAll- but genuinely didn't know it did that as it doesn't on the app

What statement? That she is against violence against women? That she is sorry to Sarah's family for their loss?

Both laudible but hardly any braver than the hundreds of women who also turned up. I don't get it.

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 14/03/2021 10:23

@NovemberRain2 don't be obtuse - for someone who is supposed to stay politically neutral no matter what, it was a bold statement

CrabPuff · 14/03/2021 10:23

I’m glad Jess Philips does that too @Roussette. The more women we have highlighting violence perpetrated by men the better. I want them all, any way they care to do it!

goodbyestranger · 14/03/2021 10:23

Why on earth support a cynical stunt by a member of the discredited royal family simply because she's a woman?

OneFamilyToRuleUsAll · 14/03/2021 10:24

No worries OP. I think it may be highlighted to you but not to others. Although when I want to @ you, all the variations of JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows you've used on this thread show on the box as OP. But not the completely different name. Here's the screenshot

Weird but I'm sure MN knows.

Because she is in the crosshairs of a bullet at any one time. Now, particularly

Well if that’s the case (which I don’t think it is) there’s no point in her going anywhere. What about all those foreign tours she does. She must be exceptionally brave then.

Another reason why we should question the whole concept of a “monarchy” Are they really worth all the money they cost us.

Roussette · 14/03/2021 10:25

CrabPuff Yes I agree. And she did a brilliant Andrew Marr interview this morning.

NovemberRain2 · 14/03/2021 10:25

@silverandgoldsparkles what does that mean? That she is physically at risk? I'm more worried about the safety of pretty much every other woman on the planet than a princess with security and a palace 😂😂

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 14/03/2021 10:25

That doesn't make me look dodgy at all 😂😂

Thank fuck this thread only has 11 posts left. I'm exhausted by all the twatiness of women tearing down other women for a simple but very meaningful gesture

It really wasn't bold. You're quite taken in by the PR stunts though.

I like the Royal Family, Andrew aside, so I support her supporting women.
OneFamilyToRuleUsAll · 14/03/2021 10:27

Not sure if I @ -ed you at anytime before asking about it or I just missed it when I did but if I had seen them all as OP, I also wouldn't have asked. @JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows

Anyway, we got there in the end.

I agree. The misogyny on here has been a disgrace. Often from posters who like to preach about compassion and #bekind, I note.
goodbyestranger · 14/03/2021 10:27

Well you see to me, it wasn't meaningful in the appropriate way. It was a PR grab which hasn't been a resounding success.

Silverandgoldsparkles · 14/03/2021 10:28

If you can't figure out why she is more at risk walking alone in public than me or you, then you either have a great opinion of yourself, or, haven't a clue about the current mood in the country at the moment.

Blessex · 14/03/2021 10:28

Horrible misogynistic thread indeed. Ciao

Depends on who you ask on that front
