My respect for the Duchess has just shot up. For a Royal, this is pretty bold and brave.

Not forgetting other women - if you attended the vigil tonight, thank you for sticking up for women's rights. Let's hope this is an opportunity for the Met Police to review and change how they treat both offending officers and female victims

Kate Middleton is a woman. A daughter. A mother. A sister. Marrying a member of the royal family doesn’t negate her being a woman. She’s entitled to express her sadness and anger like any of us. She is a person in her own right, surely not every move she makes must be a PR stunt- otherwise when does she get to just be a woman?

SOmeone knew she would be there.

WHo filmed her/knew that was her?

Eyjafjallajokulldottir · 14/03/2021 00:24

@JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows

SO WHAT if she wanted to be seen. Can anyone give me a good reason as to why she had to hide being there?

An awful lot of you sound a bit like misogynists actually - yes little woman, you can do it but do it DISCREETLY, without fuss and remember to STFU too

She doesn't have to hide that was my point? She's shining a light on the total hypocrisy and misogyny of the met police by turning up to a gathering of women in solidarity. Not sure why you're having a go?

Of course the woman had security. She’ll be the queen in 20 years or so.

Until this evening, I had no thoughts about her one way or another because I don’t care about royalty. Tbh my impression of her from the little I know was a conventional people pleaser.

I changed my mind this evening because without a shadow of a doubt she was strongly “advised”” not to attend but did. Respect.

Yes we all are in the same storm. But even a blind person can see that not everyone is in the same boat.
Sparklingbrook · 14/03/2021 00:26

But RF does feature Meghan and Kate and Andrew? So what is your point?
We, the plebs, shouldn’t question where the money is going when it could have been used to actually make a difference?

What the what now? Confused

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 14/03/2021 00:27

So when people talk about you do they also mention your uncle in law and sister in law, because you can't possible be a person in your own right?

This thread is bonkers. I started it to show the support Sarah is getting and it's turned into a "who can hate the royal family more" competition. Fucking pathetic

If every woman who had a problematic male relative in their family stayed away from the vigil or stayed silent in this issue then no one would be able to speak up about it. I really hate that ‘what about Andrew’ argument, she has no say over how he is treated by the queen and she probably only sees him at extended family events.

I applaud her for going and everyone who is talking about this really important issue. Let’s hope that everyone’s actions can make a difference.

Why are we having to hear about Kate's rights and Kate's entitlement on memorial day for Sarah Everard?

What’s your evidence for this? Who strongly Kate advised do not attend?
How do you know she declined this advice @DenisetheMenace

Blimey! Tell me when was the last time she broke a rule?

I am struggling to see how you can see them separately.
It’s the same institution, same family, same umbrella and same brand. RF is as big a brand as you will find anywhere in the world.[/quote]
Well if I met YOU I think I could muster the intelligence to perhaps not judge you based on the actions of your most deploarable in-law. Is this how you treat everybody you meet @Thewithesarehere? If not why not?

This thread really is bonkers but it’s not your fault OP. I think a klaxon went off somewhere.

Thewithesarehere · 14/03/2021 00:30

@TatianaBis

Why are we having to hear about Kate's rights and Kate's entitlement on memorial day for Sarah Everard?
Because some one in a PR team thought it would be a good idea to send a RF member, no less KM, to a place where there will be sufficient number of cameras.
JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 14/03/2021 00:30

@Eyjafjallajokulldottir my post wasn't having a go at you but the many people who've said "she should have worn a mask if she didn't want to be seen"

Over the years I've seen a lot of complaints about Mumsnet being " a nest of vipers" but not actually seen it until this thread. Some of the posters on this thread are seriously fucked up. It's not Meghan v Kate, it's not a fucking football match. I'm sure if MM was in London she would have gone too

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 14/03/2021 00:31

Klaxon for all the ma’am sycophants praising Kate.Iterating lovely as praise

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 14/03/2021 00:32

@TatianaBis

Why are we having to hear about Kate's rights and Kate's entitlement on memorial day for Sarah Everard?
Because people have claimed she shouldn't have the right to turn up or, it seems, the right to be referred to without mentioning her uncle-in-law Confused

I give you every right to judge me if I am part of a franchise that acts as a whole and that has huge interests in keeping status quo as-is.

RampantIvy · 14/03/2021 00:33

My BIL is an arsehole, so if we apply the same logic that @Thewithesarehere is using, am I also an arsehole? Confused

I think you've rather missed the point @James.

scarredhere · 14/03/2021 00:34

I'm glad she went and for the first time ever, seeing her there made me realise she is actually one of us, a genuine woman. Tbh, I don't think I would have noticed her if she was there because I would have thought no way will a royal attend this.

You aren’t having to hear anything... you’ve joined a thread specifically about this topic. So a bit strange to say you’re “having to hear” about the very topic you’ve chosen to comment on.

jamesmiddletonsmarshmallows · 14/03/2021 00:35

My exH's uncle (though I never met him) was a convicted peadophile. Never for a moment thought that meant it had anything to do with me
