£3.36 a week

No doubt like all of you I’ve daydreamed about what I would do if I hit the jackpot. But this type of money is mind blowing.

Can’t decide what I’m going to buy DD first. So excited!!

Think I’ll play it safe this week and put into safely into savings. In ten months she could have a whole pair of shoes 🥰❤️ #blessed #solucky

It’s an absolute joke isn’t it. Wonder what would happen if we decided we were only going to spend £3 a week clothing feeding housing entertaining and heating our children.

Feelingconfusedtonight · 11/03/2021 15:04

What a bloody insult op, so sorry you need to battle with this bureaucracy instead of getting the appropriate support you and glue dc deserve

startrek90 · 11/03/2021 15:05

Glad to see you are looking on the bright side op. But as an aside its bloody ridiculous how little the non resident parent is expected to contribute to their child. I men in what planet is 3.36 half the costs of raising a child?!?!

ThatWomanInTheDress · 11/03/2021 15:06

No mention of what they are planning to do about the unpaid debt before he “went on benefits”

But luckily they’ve included some helpful advice for how I can manage my money.

What an absolute bastard.

Wishitsnows · 11/03/2021 15:09

I bet he is the sort that will tell anyone who will listen he supports his child and sends money to his ex but never says how much. Disgusting how he can get away with this.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 11/03/2021 15:41

Mmm.
My mates ex h used to sit in the pub telling people that he paid what he should for his kids
One evening someone piped up "Yes, six pounds a week cod you are a lazy, workshy waste of space. You've spent six quid on that pie and pint".

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 11/03/2021 15:43

I actually think payment of maintenance should have a minimum even if it forces some men to sell their homes and live somewhere cheaper. You know, the sort of choices the mums have to make to keep their children alive.

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 11/03/2021 15:44

And that minimum must be reasonable for the support of the children they created and are responsible for.

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 11/03/2021 15:47

I realise how stupid the above sounds. Many men don't have homes to sell (but plenty of the useless shires of father's do). I meant they must be forced to make the same decisions the mothers of their children do. If they can't afford it, the state needs to pay it for them as the father's contribution. You can be sure far less would get away with it if it suddenly became benefit fraud.....

Well done that someone who pipped up!

Glad you've got advice on how to manage that £3.36 OP, you could have been spending it recklessly 🤔

3peassuit · 11/03/2021 15:53

Now don’t you go spending that three quid on your nails and hair.

cheeseismydownfall · 11/03/2021 15:55

This.

It is an fucking national disgrace that one parent (typically the father) is able to absolve themselves of any meaningful financial responsibility for their children. I simply do not understand how as a society this is considered acceptable.

Twickerhun · 11/03/2021 15:56

#blessed.
Glad you can joke about this, because that’s crazy

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 11/03/2021 15:56

Buy a bottle of cheap wine and send him a photo saying "cheers".

Seriously though. Its an insult. And like PPs have said no doubt he makes out he's a prince among men who pays for his DC. I wonder if this is the year the CMS will decide my ex does have to pay for our DC. I won't be getting my hopes up.

Extremelyilluminated · 11/03/2021 16:00

Utterly appalling.

JessieOh · 11/03/2021 16:01

Woah, you'll be living the life of luxury OP.
Will he be wanting a break down of how you've spent it?
On the brightside, that piece of admin won't take too long.

Seriously though, it is farcical. Probably costs more to collect it than its worth. Another fine example of mens needs being considered more important than women's or children's.

SwanShaped · 11/03/2021 16:02

Oh mate. That’s so bad.

Easterbunnygettingready · 11/03/2021 16:05

Use it to put Lotto on. Imagine the feeling of winning on money from the ex?!

AdventureCode · 11/03/2021 16:06

That's shocking and I thought mine was bad at £20 a week to support 3 children.

It should be a crime of neglect, community service or a criminal record for these men who refuse to pay for their kids. Mine found it easy to hide his earnings behind being self employed. Angry How's yours got away with it OP?

debbrianna · 11/03/2021 16:07

The government should have a minimum a parent can get regardless of circumstances.

Feelingconfusedtonight · 11/03/2021 16:07

If you can afford it, this is not a bad idea. The alternative is to save the money in a savings account and it’s a gift for their 18th
cerseii · 11/03/2021 16:07

I’m so jealous 😍

cerseii · 11/03/2021 16:08

That is ridiculous though. £161.28 per year.
