£3.36 a week

No doubt like all of you I’ve daydreamed about what I would do if I hit the jackpot. But this type of money is mind blowing.

Can’t decide what I’m going to buy DD first. So excited!!

Just got my maintenance award for the year WHOOP WHOOP

@Devlesko

They should face imprisonment for not supporting their children, or their benefit being taken. It takes 2 parents to provide for a child whether together or not. He'll find another who'll be on here in a couple of years saying the same. We should have a shit fella list, name and shame. I wish more women would go public on fb and shame them.
Agreed. I’d support a party that had a policy of the government paying the contribution of the NRP directly to the RP. That ‘debt’ of the NRP then becomes a debt owed to the government, with non payers investigated and imprisoned in the same way tax evaders are. There would also be an absolute minimum per child so that smart arses thinking they’d go on benefits or ‘self employed’ simply to dodge it, would be out of luck.
TheDoctorDances · 11/03/2021 18:20

And CMS take a percentage of payments as “admin.” Literally taking food from children’s mouths.

feellikeanalien · 11/03/2021 18:23

I remember my former next door neighbour complaining to me that the CMS were still forcing him to pay off a debt even though his children were now adults. It didn't seem to occur to him that if he had paid it in the first place he wouldn't still be paying now!

CantBeAssed · 11/03/2021 18:25

Really like pp idea of name and shame...although im not sure i could bring myself to say my ex's name...hes been known as "bastard" to me for so longGrin
On the bright side op..your getting 3.36 more than me...i 2nd buy lottery ticket!!

whataballbag · 11/03/2021 18:26

My ex quit his job to get out of paying child maintenance.

Ended up not even bothering so he went back to work. They send a letter out each year saying he should be paying around £35 a week.

Rather not rock the boat but can't say I won't be tempted to claim for it when DS is in his teens out of spite!

itsgettingwierd · 11/03/2021 18:31

I hear you.

I also decided to save the CM for my son so I could eventually buy him something from his dad.

Since 2007 I've managed to save it all. The total now stands at a whopping £0.00p. Wink

Poster above who said what if we decided to spend £3 a week on our kids was spot on. Equality when it comes to being responsible for your own children still doesn't exist.

UhtredRagnarson · 11/03/2021 18:32

They should print the names in the local paper the same way they do when people don’t pay their TV license.

anamazingfind · 11/03/2021 18:34

I'd be seriously tempted to put this on social media where his friends can see was a dick he is

thebabessavedme · 11/03/2021 18:51

Just before christmas I finally got a payment, dd is nearly 30!!!!!!!!!!!! and up til then never a penny was forthcoming.

I got the handsome sum of just over £1700, that was calculated from when she was 17 months to age 16, a pittance I know but I get the satisfaction of him having to stump up even that!, Iknow it will have stung Grin

When is all opens up again we are going to Rules for dinner and many cocktails and basically piss it all up the wall, I would send him photos but he wouldnt know who the young woman and her son are Angry

MarieFromStTropez · 11/03/2021 18:53

I would buy lottery tickets with it. Then if you win the jackpot you can rub his face in it Grin.

HighlandCowbag · 11/03/2021 19:03

It's a fucking disgrace OP. Got a 16 year old upstairs that had 1 payment of £225 when she was 10 months old and 3 payments of £300 (arrears) 6 months later. Then diddly fucking squat.

And it ended up costing me even more because at the time the £225 a month was deducted from my rent and council tax benefit. Even though I never received it. Ended up 1k in arrears with the council s I hadn't declared the £300. Was an absolute shit show trying to prove I'd had nothing for 6 months so the £300 wasn't extra it was less.

There should be similar rules to in America where they lose their drivers licence etc. But that won't happen here cos the poor menz will be alldasad and alldaskint. Society is set up to benefit men in so many subtle ways.

justasyouare · 11/03/2021 19:12

Back in 1999 I was sent a child maintenance cheque from the CSA for .... 5p!
He never did pay anything else and they closed the case 🤬

Loveacoseynightin · 11/03/2021 19:18

@WishingHopingThinkingPraying

I realise how stupid the above sounds. Many men don't have homes to sell (but plenty of the useless shires of father's do). I meant they must be forced to make the same decisions the mothers of their children do. If they can't afford it, the state needs to pay it for them as the father's contribution. You can be sure far less would get away with it if it suddenly became benefit fraud.....
So you want the father of your children to be homeless or lose their home so you can get more maintenance?

If the guy isn't working how can you make him pay money he hasn't got?

indemMUND · 11/03/2021 19:18

DD is 9 and I've stopped receiving the £7 a week (collect & pay) since just before Christmas, CMS no help whatsoever. I've now had a letter stating that they are writing off nearly £700 of his arrears and even if I try to argue her case they might do it anyway. Absolute joke.

traintrain · 11/03/2021 19:24

@Iceskatingfan

I love the idea of a minimum payment for child maintenance. I do think it’s a reflection of how sexist our society still is that men can get away with just leaving the huge majority of the financial cost of raising children to the mother without anyone batting an eyelid.
Absolutely. You make sure you manage your money OP, by reading the little advice leaflet. This fella doesn't have to, because he can get away with paying pence with no sanctions.
itsgettingwierd · 11/03/2021 19:30

@justasyouare

It would have cost them 5 times that at least to send it 🤦🏼‍♀️
Easterbunnygettingready · 11/03/2021 19:36

Csa got me £9 a week for 3 x dc.. When they went to Cms I didn't even bother applying..

Hopeisnotastrategy · 11/03/2021 19:40

@Stovetopespresso

Hey wow that buys your dc 1 of the 21 meals they eat each week! way to go!! must be such a weight off your mind.
Somebody should pitch a week of programmes commissioned by women for a week, things they would like to be properly investigated, to one of the major channels . Once a year as a regular thing.

Could provoke some genuinely interesting/ thought provoking/ challenging programming.

😡

Gingerkittykat · 11/03/2021 19:40

If they decided to come down hard on absent parents not paying there would be massive protests from men's rights organisations like families need fathers

I got my MP involved and made an official complaint against the CMS. They managed to arrest my exes wages after that and he will have to pay off the arrears. It's an option for the people who are struggling with the CMS taking no action.

sqirrelfriends · 11/03/2021 19:41

This makes my blood boil. It says a lot about our society that it's acceptable for a man to avoid paying maintenance for the child that they created. I'm never surprised when someone tells me they get a pittance from their ex, it's almost expected.

corlan · 11/03/2021 19:44

Of course the father should contribute half of the costs of raising his child, so what I want to know is, how the hell you manage to only spend £6.72 on your daughter every week! Wink

raincamepouringdown · 11/03/2021 19:45

They absolutely need to do what they do in the states... if child support isn't paid, driver's licenses are revoked and other working licenses are revoked. And then they go to court.

Sexist society carries on protecting men at the expense of women and children.

Freshgreenferns · 11/03/2021 19:53

Well, they don't even have to bother telling the truth, mine lied about the time they were with him, even though I had informed them and had 2 court orders. They just decided to go with what he said, when I did a Sars for the phone calls, they hadn't recorded them, when I asked why they found against me they refused to answer, despite him telling them he had them Sat -Tuesday each week when he was a 2 hour drive away. He also claimed a reduction for his girlfriend's children, and didn't inform them when they moved out, a reduction for travel (when he moved) , which he mostly makes the kids pay for out of the pocket money I give them, thus I'm paying twice. This year he's told them he's on just over 20k, this is a middle management teacher with 15+ years of experience. In each or these cases there has been concrete ways of proving this, each time they have done nothing and I am pretty sure he's never even had a don't do this. So, actually they can just lie, nothing is enforced and I actually feel like I am being shafted again, by an agency who is dealing with what they know are reluctant payers, just rewarding his blatant lies and punishing the Resident parent (90% female), I'm pretty sure that not allowing it to go to court under a certain figure must be gender discrimination, especially as they don't enforce there own biased rules even handedly.

ChequerBoard · 11/03/2021 20:08

Totally agree. We should make not supporting your children at least as socially and legally unacceptable as drink driving.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 11/03/2021 20:53

@AdventureCode

That's shocking and I thought mine was bad at £20 a week to support 3 children.

It should be a crime of neglect, community service or a criminal record for these men who refuse to pay for their kids. Mine found it easy to hide his earnings behind being self employed. Angry How's yours got away with it OP?

Regardless of sex or being the RP or NRP , I agree. There should be more done to make sure parents pay for any children they have.
