£3.36 a week

No doubt like all of you I’ve daydreamed about what I would do if I hit the jackpot. But this type of money is mind blowing.

Can’t decide what I’m going to buy DD first. So excited!!

They should face imprisonment for not supporting their children, or their benefit being taken.
It takes 2 parents to provide for a child whether together or not.
He'll find another who'll be on here in a couple of years saying the same. We should have a shit fella list, name and shame.
I wish more women would go public on fb and shame them.

trevthecat · 11/03/2021 16:14

This infuriates me. Why are nrp allowed to contribute so little? My ex is in over £1.5k debt to CMS, he pays the bare minimum and none of the arrears as he says he can't afford it. Tough! If I was skint and they need something, I find the money to get them it. I don't mean toys or treats I mean the basics of keeping a child alive and healthy. It's disgusting that this amount of money can be an acceptable contribution to a child's upbringing

Graciebobcat · 11/03/2021 16:14

Ridiculous. They should make it fraud and also be able to make them pay if they "go on benefits", just like if you give money away to avoid tax or paying for residential care.

DumplingsAndStew · 11/03/2021 16:17

I thought there was a higher minimum award if the paying parent was on benefits.

I'm sorry, he doesn't deserve to be a father 😕

LaceyBetty · 11/03/2021 16:17

Couldn't agree more. It is outrageous.

LaceyBetty · 11/03/2021 16:18

How is it not abandonment?

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 11/03/2021 16:19

@AdventureCode

That's shocking and I thought mine was bad at £20 a week to support 3 children.

It should be a crime of neglect, community service or a criminal record for these men who refuse to pay for their kids. Mine found it easy to hide his earnings behind being self employed. Angry How's yours got away with it OP?

I just don’t understand how any man could withhold from their child. I get that some don’t want to pay money to their ex but it’s just disgusting that they would let their child go without.
WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 11/03/2021 16:20

The minimum payment they take from the NRP (even if they are on benefits*) is £7 per week. However if they have children with multiple women that £7 is split between them. Which i assume is the case here?

*with exceptions like PIP and carers allowance. (I think anyway.)

cerseii · 11/03/2021 16:21

The thing is, there’s plenty of women who know their man is a deadbeat dad but end up producing further children with him regardless. They fall for his excuses blaming his ex, and think it will be different with her

Unsuremover · 11/03/2021 16:22

amazing how there’s investigations if you give your money away to avoid inheritance tax, or paying for your care or dodge your tax but £3 a week for a kid seems right. Send the NRP one of those £30 boxes kids were getting for lunches and give the RP the rest of the money.

monstermunchbunch · 11/03/2021 16:23

I am now feeling like a total millionaire, with £6.27 a week!

Ironically, that amount is lower than when the arsehole was (fraudulently) claiming benefits. Apparently the poor lamb only earns about £65 a week (he's a cash in hand plumber with a ltd company, so I doubt that very much!!)

Peakypolly · 11/03/2021 16:32

Can anyone explain why this is not the case?

PanamaPattie · 11/03/2021 16:33

I would probably save the £3 and blow the rest.

Blankscreen · 11/03/2021 16:35

Just to balance that it's not all men that behave like this DSS mother owes us £5k and just hasn't paid this month.

CMS are awful you can't ring them and no mention of how they are going to deal with the arrears.

Viviennemary · 11/03/2021 16:38

Maybe some Mnetters have got it right. Marry a rich man. Seriously it's cheeky. Surely a man would be ashamed to give that.

Bloody hell, OP, don't go mad spending that...Try and put some aside for your Pension, maybe buy another property?
oakleaffy · 11/03/2021 16:40

My DH gave £25 maintenance to DS.

Seems he was uber generous?!

VanillaSpiceCandle · 11/03/2021 16:40

Not helpful but how can he sleep at night. Surely the guilt would eat at you with every conversation you had about children.

FuckyouBrennan · 11/03/2021 16:41

Don’t be reckless OP, make sure some gets put aside for savings!

So unfair. They should make all these non-paying parents do work for the benefit of the community (eg litter picking, painting of benches) and then the wage they have earnt should be paid direct to the resident parent.

My 'father' never paid a penny maintenance for myself or sister or sent us so much as a birthday card. Shacked up with his OW and brought up her five kids though - I assume he never gave us a second thought while paying for her children. Some men are just wired as heartless bastards.
HollowTalk · 11/03/2021 16:47

I would love to see a documentary on how this is decided. How come nothing's been shown on this on television?

Stovetopespresso · 11/03/2021 16:47

Hey wow that buys your dc 1 of the 21 meals they eat each week! way to go!!
must be such a weight off your mind.

womaninatightspot · 11/03/2021 16:49

I'm sure it's in breach of human rights but I can't help but feel that men who have more than two children that they don't pay for should be encouraged to have vasectomies or face benefit sanctions.

For the self employed who funnel money around; I'd really like to see closer scrutinies fo thier lifestyle surely if you own a house or two and a flash car you can support your children.

BillieSpain · 11/03/2021 16:50

FFS, that is beyond incredible.
