Does anyone else think that the Harry & Meghan show isn't going to be that explosive?

I really doubt that loads of dirt will be raked, or muck spread. I'm guessing that there will be a few "it was hard to speak" type complaints, which the media will blow up, but that it's not actually going to be as exciting as we're all being led to believe?

@MissFlite

Why would they want Archie his to have a title anyway if they were so unhappy with the RF? There is so much that seems contradictory. If anyone is to blame for Meghan's naivety, it's Harry.
I'm sure at the time they said they didn't want him to have a Royal title so he could lead a normal life

@Pomegranatespompom

The wedding thing is bizarre and doesn’t ring quite true.
I said upthread that I didn’t think they’d say that if it wasn’t true as it could easily be disproved by marriage records. But actually I’m not sure, they’ve said that it was just the two of them, in the garden. So, no witnesses? Does their garden have a structure licensed for weddings? It sounds more like a blessing - but perhaps a slightly American thing because I think in America you can get married anywhere, rather than needing somewhere with a license. But then, why not just say that. Why not say “we wrote our own vows that we really wanted to say to each other privately, so we arranged a separate blessing with the archbishop, it was really beautiful and feels to us like that was the moment our marriage really started”

They are saying that wasn't the case but that was the line put out there, impossible to know.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/03/2021 09:12

Meghan ultimately is a woman struggling with her mental health in a situation that was too much for her and just wants to explain herself and her situation as she sees it as she is constantly in the media no matter what.

I did support her, I don't any more. I think she's putting herself out there far too much which in turn creates more media attention which in turn will cause more MH issues.

I think Piers Morgan needs to back off completely because he is one of the main reasons she is discussed negatively by the media and then by the rest of the population.

It disgusts me that ITV have allowed Piers behaviour and that viewers see his revolting opinions and bullying on a daily basis. I mean urgh it sets a bad example. It makes me cringe. Obvs I watch BBC now but when I pop over to itv I can't believe he's still so vile to people. It's embarrassing and I'd hate my DC to ever watch him and think that's an ok way to speak to people.

And re the colour of Archie's skin tone. I think everyone would have wondered that at some point, why wouldn't you.

VanillaIce · 08/03/2021 09:13

Self-indulgent whining exactly as predicted.

The racists comments are terrible but not very surprising and I can well imagine similar comments would have been knocked about back in Harry’s army days. He’s no angel.

Bitching about Kate when she has no right to reply is just nasty. And couching it in language such as “I don’t say this to me disparaging” - so hypocritical.

No questions about her own shower of shit family, just his.

The Archie being a prince part was baffling. Just call me Harry peeved at his son not having a title?

And we’re supposed to believe they only did Netflix because a friend suggested it and, well, his daddy had cut him off financially. Pull the other one.

They were jealous of Meghan??? Drawing direct comparisons with Diana. Who exactly was jealous? The royals will never get to respond to this so it’s just hearsay and gossip. Harry’s world view.

A LOT of cognitive dissonance as they say. Completely one-sided.

I got a strong feeling they considered themselves every bit as important in the royal household as Kate and William and demanded the same treatment at every turn.

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 08/03/2021 09:13

@teentipans

who says he didn't?
Um, his wife? Literally said she didn't know she had to curtesy. So can we safely assume Harry didn't tell her?
JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 08/03/2021 09:15

@livinlavida2021

Why are people so concerned about the context of the statement about archies skin?

Why can't people just accept others account of racism - people don't do this for sexism or homophobic slurs? Beg for the context or else the argument is invalid - why can't you just accept their account and accept racism is highly likely in a royal family?!

You don't think when people give half a story about sexism that people question it?
teentipans · 08/03/2021 09:15

This is a quote!!!

""It turned out, the Queen was finishing a church service in Windsor and so she was going to be at the house," Meghan told Oprah. And when Harry heard the news, he asked Meghan: "Right, Do you know how to curtsy?"

🙄

She didn't know she would be meeting the Queen.

PuffItsGone · 08/03/2021 09:17

They were both trying sooo hard to create a narrative about her being the new Diana. It was embarrassing to listen to. I hope now they have ‘found their voice’ and ‘shared their truth’ they’ll go live quietly and stop whining

teentipans · 08/03/2021 09:20

Perhaps they did.

I personally found them quite exciting & the press & feedback from the tour was very positive. They are also popular with the younger generations. I do think there was an element of others not wanting to be overshadowed. Look how long it took for Camilla to be accepted & the public are still sketchy about PC as King.

So well [email protected] is a pig and am shocked that he is allowed to get away with the stuff he says!
teentipans · 08/03/2021 09:21

Piers is an embarrassment

sadie9 · 08/03/2021 09:21

Meghan had suicidal ideation.
There's no mention of what Harry did to contact professional services to help her with that.
Being ambassadors for mental health I would have thought this they would say they had contacted professionals for advice. It was such a good opportunity for them to do that.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 08/03/2021 09:22

She didn't know she would be meeting the Queen.

So?

Surely she would have expected to meet her eventually?

teentipans · 08/03/2021 09:24

of course just probably with a bit more warning however that doesn't change my point.

TheStreamThatStoodStill · 08/03/2021 09:24

A commentator on BBC news has just talked about the Palace "refusing to give Archie a title because of his skin colour" and that "an act was paased by the Palace to ensure he couldn't have a title". I am genuinely baffled by this. I thought that the fact was that Archie, due to the ancient laws of succession etc, could not have a title until Charles ascends the throne?

Sparrowtree · 08/03/2021 09:26

Right so being criticised without the right to reply was a huge contributing factor to her mental breakdown yet she has just done this exact thing to Kate. She knows Kate can't reply. Kate and William must be livid. Hell I have zero dog in this fight and I'm livid for Kate.

According to her she knew nothing about the Royal family or how to behave. She didn't google her boyfriend which I don't believe for one hot second. She can't say she googled him or she'd have to admit to seeing him in a nazi uniform at a party for a laugh! He's a fine one to play the racist card now having been found to be calling one of his army mates a 'Paki' and choosing a Nazi uniform for a fancy dress party! But someone in his family pondered his child's skin colour and they're the racist? Please.

As for Charles cutting them off financially - of course he bloody did. They said they didn't want the job. They wanted to leave the job,
not do the work but still get paid? Right.

I think Harry has firmly nailed shut the relationship with William and Kate after this. There can be no trust in that relationship. It's a shame really for all of them.

CocoPark · 08/03/2021 09:27

It sounds like it's been open season on the RF! They've said/implied some very damaging, personal things, while maintaining a quiet victim stance so that it'll be very difficult to challenge them (not that the royals can really respond anyway).

Disappointing that Harry criticized his father, who broke all traditions to walk MM down the aisle when her own wasn't even there. And he also seemed to confirm he and PW don't really speak. He sounds very bitter, and I don't see what's to gain from telling the world, except attention and $ in the USA.

Re curtseys etc, I can't believe either of them were so naive. I just don't buy it. Harry's grown up in it, he well knows the protocols - and she's intelligent enough to have ASKED, surely. Anyone would!

Oh, to be a fly on the wall at BP and KP right now!

And Piers Morgan is absolutely demented when it comes to them. They're as cringeworthy as each other.

Wasn't the point that the story was M made K cry & because nothing was clarified M gave her version?

Two privileged whiners..whinging I’ve got better things to do with my time. Yott girl got lucky. Good luck to her
Hiya Dowser what is a yott girl please? You may have explained already, sorry! Thank you.
Coolerthanapolarbearstoenails · 08/03/2021 09:30

Didn't Megan say the comments re skin colour of Archie were made when she was pregnant, but Harry go on to say they were mentioned when they were getting engaged?

Meghan said they were told when he was born that he wouldn’t be having a title (and therefore no security) and changes would be made so he still wouldn’t have a title when Charles becomes King.
