Film and TV bits you find unreasonably funny

I was just talking to a friend of mine about films and Runaway Bride came up. She said one bit has her mum in stitches. Its the bit where Julia Roberts jumps on a FedEx truck and someone asks 'where is she going?' and Hector Elizondo says 'i dont know, but wherever it is she will get there by 6pm tomorrow'. For me where she gets stuck on the church bell and Richard Gere says 'sanctuary, sactuary' just gets me and i dont know why!

The 'well we'll call you Lord Rodney' line in OFAH kills DH every time

How about you?

@WhatFreshStartIsThis

The wolf fleece moment in the first series of The Apprentice
Oh my gosh - I was howling at this, literally the most I have ever laughed at the TV.. it was hilarious! Thank-you for reminding me of it! Grin

There are some clips on YouTube of an old series called On the Piste. It's a programme about first time skiers. I cannot watch it without crying. Kevin. Oh my god.

TiptopJ · 06/03/2021 21:56

The sketch in slap the pony where an interviewer is asking a woman walking a dog some questions about dogs and she replies that she doesn't like dogs and she's actually quite scared of them. The interviews points to the dog and the woman screams, drops the lead and runs away. In fact all of the smack the pony sketches crack me up every time

BalloonSlayer · 06/03/2021 22:03

The bet thing about the Uncle Albert gasping scene is that David Jason us desperately trying not to laugh throughout.

Watch it again but only look at Del Boy.

TuesdayinSeptember · 06/03/2021 22:07

Also love Smack the Pony. The sjetch in the swimming pool changing room is hilarious.

FedUpWithBriiiiick · 06/03/2021 22:09

@WhoWants2Know

Father Jack and his brick 😁.
I also like that 😁
Ghislainedefeligonde · 06/03/2021 22:10

I love the bit at the end of Paddington 2 when Hugh Grant is performing in prison, it just cracks me up. Such a great film
So many Friends episodes, too many to list really. Also Still Game omg so funny, makes me cry tears of laughter

Tantalust · 06/03/2021 22:44

Dumb and Dumber where they cut their toenails with an angle grinder.

Also when the one guy has diarroea and has the most excruciating shit into a toilet that he realises is broken. 😂

CassandraCross · 06/03/2021 22:51

The Saturday Night Fever Dance scene in Airplane, especially when he starts doing Cossack dancing moves and juggling.

The Blow Up Dolls in OFAH when they loom up from behind the bar and they all run out of the room.

42isthemeaning · 06/03/2021 23:16

Borat tv series - the wine tasting scene where he just can't seem to take the wine glass repeatedly. Makes me weep with laughter. Grin

ThePontiacBandit · 06/03/2021 23:25

Twink talking about lap dancing in Dinnerladies.

Brooklyn 99 when Marg the janitor asks if they even know her surname and Scully says “Mop bucket?” and Terry yells “Scully, don’t guess!” (Giggled at the thought of it)

Snooks1971 · 06/03/2021 23:31

@ViciousJackdaw

Speaking of OFAH, this has me in stitches every time:

Del: (sarcastic) During the war...
Uncle Albert: I wasn't gonna say 'during the war'
Del: Good
Uncle Albert: During the 1939-1945 conflict...

Did a low grunt/deep chortle at that, thank you
CaffeineAndCrochet · 06/03/2021 23:31

Kevin Bridges telling the story of accidentally buying a horse on Would I Lie to You. Literally stomach was hurting with laughter, tears streaming down my face when I saw it the first time.

H1978 · 06/03/2021 23:40

The one that always gets me is the one from the vicar of dibley when the committee are discussing what the church window depicts as they are looking to replace it after the storm damage. The suggestions are hilarious 🤣

Redcrayons · 06/03/2021 23:45

The appraisal scene in the U.K. office. ‘Weaknesses, eczema’.
The opening scene of the US Office when Dwight’s does the fire safety test I’ve rewatched it so many times.
Modern Family when Phil and Clare go to the hotel and pretend they don’t know each
BB9 any scenes with Holt and Wunch

This thread has reminded me how funny Only Fools was, I might have to rewatch a few.

Awarsewolf · 06/03/2021 23:47

@TuesdayinSeptember oh my god. That has just had me crying with laughter. The chairlift couldn’t have gone worse Grin

groundcontroltomontydon · 06/03/2021 23:51

IT Crowd - a fire?? At a Sea Parks?? Brilliant sceneGrin

480Widdio · 06/03/2021 23:52

On the piste.

Graham Norton in Father Ted dancing in the caravan.

Julie Walters and the soup.

Anchorman, cry laughing at that, used to watch it with one of my sons repeatedly,my other children don’t think it’s remotely funny, which makes me laugh more.

midsomermurderess · 06/03/2021 23:52

Gavin and Stacey. Bryn and Smithy in Bryn's bedroom, working out, tops off, sweating and Gavin comes in. I cry laughing.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 06/03/2021 23:53

The Christmas episode of Dinnerladies where Anita asks if genetalia is that stuff you put on a Christmas tree and Bren says yes, because what else could you say?

Every single episode of Car Share especially the monkey one.

movehimintothesun · 06/03/2021 23:57

The Inbetweeners, when they're in the boat and Neil repeatedly punches a fish to death. (Probably doesn't sound so funny written down...😂)

IdblowJonSnow · 06/03/2021 23:57

Bridesmaids still really makes me laugh. Especially the bit on the plane when she tries to sneak into business/first class.
Blackadder is still really funny as is Alan Partridge. Been watching a lot of old faves during lockdown!

TuesdayinSeptember · 06/03/2021 23:58
@TuesdayinSeptember oh my god. That has just had me crying with laughter. The chairlift couldn’t have gone worse Grin
It's brilliant isn't it, so glad you found it funny. I've watched over and over, and it still does for me every time Grin

SanFranBear · 07/03/2021 00:02

So so many but the one which instantly came to mind when I saw the title was in Parks & Rec when they're at the ice rink to make a big speech about Leslie's standing for office but the red carpet doesn't reach to the dias.

Gloria Estefans 'Get on Your Feet' keeps playing as they slip, slide and it just makes me laugh and laugh - such silly slapstick.

About 2.15 into this link:

HippyChickMama · 07/03/2021 00:04

First Austin Powers film:
'There you are!'
'Do I know you?'
'No but you're there, that's where you are'

Blackadder II when Edmund goes to see the wise woman:
'Is this where it can find the wise woman?'
'That it be, that it be'
'Yes it is not that it be, you don't have to speak to me like that, I'm not a tourist'

Neither seem remotely funny written down but they make me laugh every time despite having seen them over and over again.
