@Bluesheep8

If any mums of small boys are reading this - please get them into sports. So important they feel physically confident.

What about emotionally and intellectually confident? Oh and tell them never to marry stupid women.

@Oldat40

Never marry a short man.
You'd better inform the entire Asian community of that then.
catmothertes1 · 04/03/2021 11:16

I'm surprised too. I thought he was much taller. He must have a very good tailor that makes clothes that are really well fitted and flattering.

@Bluesheep8

Hmmm ... That goes without saying Hmm or do you not understand my username?

littlepattilou · 04/03/2021 11:19

@newcarcoming

This is bullshine anyway. Rishi is 5 foot 7. (NOT 5 ft 5!)

And that's not short for a man. It's slightly shorter than average.

And he is still dishy! Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/03/2021 11:19

My BF is 5'2.
It bothers me not a jot.

Imagine if that was flipped and a bloke said 'never marry a tall woman' or 'never marry a large woman'
Madcats · 04/03/2021 11:20

Well he's taller than I am.

Regardless of his politics he seems to be the only member of cabinet wearing suits that appear to fit (though I've not stared down at the trouser length). Don't get me started with Matt Hancock's pink ties, either!

Chocolateandamaretto · 04/03/2021 11:21

My husband is shorter than me. I just don't think about it any more but I forgot people can be weird about short men! Rishi is physically very tidy and well dressed but yeah, too tory for me!

Seasthedaytoday · 04/03/2021 11:23

My dh is 5ft 5. He is kind, loyal, honest, funny. What tripe saying never marry a short man!

I find it quite embarrassing the dishevelled state of our politicians on the world stage. They all have horrendous haircuts as well.

It is a stupid thing to say really, and as a few others have said, imagine the uproar if a man came on here and said he would never marry a fat woman, or a woman over 5 ft 4.
IveMadeAHugeMistake · 04/03/2021 11:31

On Tom Cruise v Stephen Merchant

Handsome but nuts or plain but intelligent, witty and sane?

Hmm, let me think 🤔

Lampzade · 04/03/2021 11:32

@PicsInRed

That's 5'10 on Bumble.
Ha ha
exhausteddog · 04/03/2021 11:32

I would imagine going to an elite boarding school and then Oxford (and premably being reasonably intelligent) had way more to do with him doing well in his career than his height!

I'm very short and DS classmates, usually boys (and children I don't know Blush ) constantly comment on it, and like to point out that they are taller/have bigger feet etc

MySaladDays75 · 04/03/2021 11:34

He’s a Pocket Rocket!

Lampzade · 04/03/2021 11:34

@Fridainexile

I hate these short men threads. I’d rather have a short husband than an abusive one, any day of the week. Ditto one with a micro penis (another easy target for the mumsnet bullies). Can you imagine being a mum to a little boy with either of these traits, reading these threads and worrying that no woman would find him worthy enough of love, despite him being a kind, lovely person? It breaks my heart to think of it.
Agree

haha. Have to admit I thought he was 6ft
WinterIsGone · 04/03/2021 11:49

Short man syndrome really does exist, Oxford University academics have found, after a study showed feeling smaller makes people paranoid, distrustful and scared of others.
Reading some of the truly awful comments on this thread, I'm not sure whether they wouldn't be right to be paranoid and distrustful. Hmm

MimiDaisy11 · 04/03/2021 11:53

Does he remind anyone else of Ed Miliband?

Hmm...I wonder why short men may feel like that??
CallmeAngelina · 04/03/2021 11:55

What an unpleasant thread.
Since when did it become acceptable to be so scathing of a person's physical appearance?

grapewine · 04/03/2021 11:56

@Bobkitten

God, some people are so fucking rude about short men.

My DS is short for his age and is not likely to be a tall adult. He’s a lovely, kind young man. I’ve reassured him that most people will see past his height. Maybe I ought to have to revised ‘most’ down to ‘some’ Sad

It's so depressing.

FWIW, the men I have met who I've liked the most for whatever reason have been short.

grapewine · 04/03/2021 11:59

This, absolutely.

Only about short men it seems to be acceptable. I don't recall any other threads mocking someone's personal appearance. Oh no, of course we wouldn't as they would have been deleted!
