The latest royal family drama

It's like a TV show. How embarrassing!

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/royal-aides-reveal-meghan-bullying-claim-before-oprah-interview-7sxfvd2c3

The latest is that Meghan is accused of bullying staff. Harry and Meghan then responded that Buckingham Palace was using the Times to peddle false stories/a smear campaign. So presumably the "leak" comes from Buckingham Palace/the Queen.

It's all so childish. Why can't they all just be grateful for the extremely cushy life that they have!

I'll be watching the Oprah interview. I think the royals never come across well in these kind of things. Like Andrew's awful interview...he's just so out of touch with reality. And I think that's a characteristic that Harry unfortunately shares with him.

According to The Times numerous members of staff reported bullying.

TheCatWithTheFluffyTail · 03/03/2021 16:57

@Mummy195

Who are they?

Because this morning it was reported that the victim knew nothing about this.

Surely you know to have been so empathetic that the person didn’t know anything about it, otherwise you are dismissing a factual email that has been reported and are merely repeated an unfounded fact.
Devlesko · 03/03/2021 16:58

If they don't want to be royals they should have nothing to do with the royal side, that includes discussing them.
A presenter wouldn't ask a celeb about their family, it's them they interview about what they've done.
I'm sure H&M could talk about this, but then they'd soon be boring with nothing to say.
They aren't royals anymore, can't see how anyone would give them time of day, unless they want to see car crash trailor trash tv.

Dunno. I haven’t got a crystal ball.

That’s the bit some people find annoying. They aren’t royals because they didn’t want that life but they are making their money by selling out what they know of the royal life.

I agree. Bullying needs to be investigated and it needs to be determined that it did actually happen.

I think often victims of bullying are gaslighted and called bullies themselves. This is a classic ‘mirroring’ technique to change the narrative.

I have no idea if that is the case here. It is unhelpful all around to throw accusations of bullying in a workplace, without having carried out investigations. In fact why didn’t the victims make an official complaint? Or an informal grievance or a formal grievance process?

As an aside, can a staff member of the RF take their employers (RF) to the employment tribunal?

If not, that is the issue that needs to be rectified. Gossiping about unsubstantiated claims of ‘bullying’ in a workplace is really quite unhelpful

PicsInRed · 03/03/2021 17:13

Jason Knauf's email effectively says "ooooer, they were so mean and people are so hurt and just so totally broken" without saying anything specific about what was actually said or done.

What did Meghan actually say which was hurtful?
What did she actually DO?
NOTHING or they would have said.

It's all subjective feelings and "terror" 🤣 of the staff and courtiers. Whatever happened to a British stiff upper lip? I thought all this feelings stuff was embarrassing American guff? Or is that only until it's convenient to have the feelings?

For all we know, they found her too "loud", too "aggressive" and/or didn't like her "tone". Then declared themselves "bullied". Hmm

Lampzade · 03/03/2021 17:15

The same posters who are claiming that Meghan may have bullied staff ( despite the fact that no real evidence had been produced) are the self same posters who do not believe that Meghan was treated terribly in the UK ( despite the relentless attack on her by elements of the British press)
Furthermore, these same posters believe that the timing of the interview with Oprah Winfrey is inappropriate because Prince Philip is in hospital ( despite the fact that Harry and Meghan will have no control over when the interview is aired) . However, these posters think it is ok for a heavily pregnant woman to face daily attacks .

Not the right kind of pregnant woman, innit.

Lampzade · 03/03/2021 17:19

I too would be interested in finding out who the ‘numerous’ staff were. Let them come forward and let us have this whole thing investigated
As far as I am concerned, if you label someone a bully, you should give them the opportunity to defend themselves

Have you ever been bullied at work? It's usually a succession of small actions designed to make another person feel small. Nasty looks, tone of voice, put downs etc etc. It may not consist of any screaming and shouting.
SugarfreeBlitz · 03/03/2021 17:19

@MrsKingfisher

God, Meghan is such a terrible actress she's very transparent. Has she been studying Diana's interview of how to look doe eyed and vulnerable on tv? I think whatever the interview it shows a lack of respect to the Queen.
Oh that's a shame! I was thinking she could go back to work to earn some dosh. Grin

After all, there's only so much dirt you can dish- and only so much privacy you can lose without losing your self respect. It's massively disrespectful and I'm sure they will pay a price for their indiscretion.

ExtraordinaryQuince · 03/03/2021 17:21

@Mockolate

You need to read the tales about Haz on Blind Gossip. You may change your mind

Haz?! Grin
Erm, no idea what Blind Gossip is but if that's the level of "speak" on there, I can feel my brain starting to rot already so will give it a miss lol

I think that's a reference to MM calling him 5hat on James Cordon's show.
Stratfordplace · 03/03/2021 17:23

I should think having a cup of hot tea thrown at you was quite unpleasant.

Lookingforwardto2021 · 03/03/2021 17:26

Is that a documented complaint? Who was the person who allegedly had tea thrown at them? When did it happen and who was it reported to? What subsequent action was taken?

I assume there must be some clear documentation including a workplace interview with both the alleged perpetrator and victim?

VinylDetective · 03/03/2021 17:27

Exactly that. Moving deadlines at no notice, withholding important information, rearranging meetings so there’s no time to prepare, constantly changing parameters.

Nobody who has experienced it ever minimises it, workplace bullying makes life a living hell. It’s more than a decade since I was subject to it and the memory still makes me feel physically sick.

ancientgran · 03/03/2021 17:28

@derxa Have you ever been bullied at work? It's usually a succession of small actions designed to make another person feel small. Nasty looks, tone of voice, put downs etc etc. It may not consist of any screaming and shouting. It is hard for people who haven't experienced it to understand. I had a new boss and she wanted me out, she formed a little gang and my life was made a misery. I'd been there nearly 20 years, never had an issue, had excellent appraisals and suddenly I couldn't get the information I needed to do my job, got cold shouldered, got "set up" with the CEO who got annoyed and I got screamed at, got accused of things.

Do you know what the final straw was, and this sounds totally mad. I was off for a day, when I went back into work they had "isolated" my mug. They had bought a mug tree and their mugs were all together and mine was put on a shelf by itself. Totally stupid, totally unimportant but that mug just summed the whole thing up. I picked up my things and walked out.

I didn't make a complaint, raise a grievance I just walked. My mental health was destroyed, I couldn't cope with any more so that was that.

Five years on it still upsets me.

RubyViolet · 03/03/2021 17:30

Too much Royal Family for me now, this is overkill and getting hysterical.

With The Crown, Cordon, Oprah, Andrew, HaM, and Prince Philip in the papers every day it’s just crazy.

HaM are being over exposed in the media, and we still have the Netflix content they create to come. It’s too much now.

I owe my bullies nothing and certainly not the opportunity to defend themselves which would consist of them trying to make everything my fault. Bit like Priti Patel having no idea she was upsetting people.
Roussette · 03/03/2021 17:32

ancientgran I totally get that final straw. That's all it takes. Horrible

SugarfreeBlitz · 03/03/2021 17:32

Whether good actress or bad actress, she IS an actress, doing what she trained to do -for money. How can anyone know when she isn't acting?

The word is microaggresions. I'm sure Meghan Markle is familiar with the concept. If she wasn't, the UK sure took her to school.

Many haven't been so micro though, have they? Some of the stuff coming her way by that open and accepting British public and the Establishment itself (who just wanted to love her, gosh darn it, why wouldnt she let them love her? 😥) ... has been downright overt and disgusting.

ancientgran · 03/03/2021 17:35

Thank you. I've never told anyone that, it just sounds to mad but I can't explain how that mug made me feel.

I feel like crying. Maybe it will be good that I've said it.
