Weighed myself 1st time in a year

I've just weighed myself for the 1st time in a year. I've gone from 250lb (17 stone) to 140lb (10 stone). I knew my clothes where getting baggy but that's something else.

I'm sorry I don't mean this to be nasty/braggy I'm just in shock.

Really well done👏, you look great and to be honest I can see why it's a shock if you havn't weighed yourself, even though you obviously know you have lost weight. When larger I always buy clothes with stretch and elastic that still fit when a couple of sizes smaller.

I think op has probably worked really hard to do this, has low confidence and is looking for some well deserved praise but didn't know quite how to word the original post. Be proud of your achievement and even if you are not too concerned about imagine you are certainly far healthier now which is excellent.

I believe you've lost the weight but I don't believe you, or your DH or anyone else, didn't notice the extent of it. You've lost the equivalent of a small adult adult female.

@RickiTarr

Maybe you’ve been washing too much and gradually dissolving? What substance are you made of?

Sugar, presumably.

Did you have a gastric band thingy?

This

Of course OP was aware of losing the weight. I took her post to mean that she was shocked seeing it in black and white on the scales.

Well done OP!

(And if you're wondering where that weight has gone, I seem to have a lot of it here.)

We’ve had a thread today about breastfeeding hedgehogs that are tassels and another about recruiting the NDN’s DH as a “cuddle buddy”.

I was just assuming it was wacky week on MN.

Not to mention the poster who found her 16 yr old's butt plug on her kitchen worktop ConfusedGrin

Anyway well done OP that's impressive 👏

Nothing wrong with Blondineys comment. Except the OP made it clear weight loss was caused by a mix of dieting and depression

Very adroit and insightful post and I think it nails it.

Well done, OP, that is some achievement!

Well done you. I have weighed 18 stone , and can absolutely see how you could know you were thinner, but not by how much. I am so glad you are feeling better. Massive congratulations on a fantastic achievement.

Good! I know a woman who had a gastric band and she's suffers a lot with all kinds of acid reflux issues. She misses the comfort that food gave too, she drinks a bit too much now instead.

Thank you for not taking offense at my question, absolutely none was intended.

How did you lose 7 stone without realising though??? Do you mean that you knew you were losing a lot of weight but didn't realise how well you'd done?
Keep it up OP - exercise is medicine for depression.

Fullofpudding · 27/02/2021 22:18

I can't deny you've lost the weight but I'm sorry I've just lost 7 stone in about 18 months and my clothes have been replaced over and over. You never noticed half of your body weight vanished! You must have been exercising too as it doesn't just drop off like that!

Well done op!
For all those saying op must be crazy tall to be a size 18 at 18st.. I'm also quite similar and 5ft 7! Everyone carries weight differently. At around 14.7st I stepped on the scales at the gp and her jaw hit the floor. She said never in a million years would she of thought I weighed that much by looking at me... she made me get off and back on incase the scales were broken! Some people clearly carry it 'better' than others.

I'm trying to get back down to a more normal size after leaving an abusive relationship, I was 17.5 stone now just under 16 and my clothes are getting pretty baggy where when I get to 15 I will have to probably get new ones, I'm surprised they stayed up for you lol, Like above said by the time I get to my goal weight of about 12/11st I expect to have changed clothes twice
