Your favourite TV series that no one else you know has seen

Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

Las Vegas
Entourage

BikeRunSki · 24/02/2021 06:22

Stella, it was on Sky, but I bought it on DVD. Written by and staring the wonderful Ruth Jones.

12 Monkeys - TV series, not the film.

Mind you, getting season 4 wasn’t easy.

Early Doors. Never got the love it deserved.

No one ever mentions NYPD Blue, but it was really quite groundbreaking at the time. I was obsessed with it as a teenager, I'll have to see if it's on anywhere as there are so many storylines I remember.

Dunairbeanat · 24/02/2021 06:29

Grace Under Fire was brilliant.

Whatamesssss · 24/02/2021 06:57

Vinyl was great, but was cancelled after 1 season.

3rd Rock from the Sun was fantastic, the acting and the writing were superb. One of the best comedies ever.

Also I can't believe Spaced is "cult", it's great.

I loved Tru Calling and Doll house.

Doll house well worth the watch and such a clever ending.

I also love Ghosts, in fact I spent the last 'death in paradise' saying - where do I know that actor from.

I have just binge watched the first and half of the second series of 'snowpiercer' on Netflix. Well worth a watch if you are into dystopian future sci fi. Just put any scientific

And just for nostalgia Blakes 7, only one other person at school watched it.

@Wineloffa

Superstore. I have actually cried laughing at so many episodes.
I loved Superstore too...and nobody I've spoken to has seen it!

Halt and Catch Fire

Oblomov21 · 24/02/2021 07:03

I loved Revenge too. There was a MN Revenge thread at the time. Fab.

I can't seem to convert anyone to the recent series Mindhunter, all about the FBI and serial killers. Really enjoyed. But few friends seem interested. Drives me crazy.

FallenSky · 24/02/2021 07:04

I've recently been talking to friends about a show I used to watch as a teen on channel 5 called The Tribe. New Zealand show, perhaps not the greatest acting looking back but I was obsessed with it. No one I know has ever heard of it! It's about a virus pandemic that takes out all the adults in the world leaving the kids to form a new society. Maybe not the most uplifting show to watch in the current climate though Grin

YouAreYourBestThing · 24/02/2021 07:09

Ted Lasso has been my most recent 'find'. Just loved it!! Not sure if it's popular or not, but nobody I've spoken to has watched it, so maybe not. I highly recommend 👍

Rowofducks · 24/02/2021 07:10

Russian Doll
Better call Saul
Inside no 9
Bojack horseman
Black mirror
I may destroy you
Episodes

Then again I only know people who watch love island and xfactor .

FrenchyQ · 24/02/2021 07:10

I'm glad to see how not to live your life mentioned!
Tittybangbang... Me and DH still quote from it and no one else understands!

White collar
Revenge
Sunny in philadelphia, the earlier series are far funnier than the later ones.

Standrewsschool · 24/02/2021 07:12

The Great Outdoors - with Ruth Jones in it, about a rambling group - just discovered there were only three episodes, but I really liked it.

Hustle - if you haven’t watched this, it’s superb

River Monsters - with Jeremy Wade - I don’t even like fishing but this series is fascinating as it’s part adventurer, part anthological

ShesMadeATwatOfMePam · 24/02/2021 07:12

This country on bbc iplayer. Can't seem to get anyone else to watch it no matter how many times i recommend it to people. Well, they're the ones that are missing out!

GreenLilliesAndViolets · 24/02/2021 07:14

Kim’s Convenience, Netflix

CatsForLife · 24/02/2021 07:15

Love Soup. Loved this programme.

Covidcorvid · 24/02/2021 07:16

@anastasiakrupnik

The 100. I started watching as it's full of ex-Neighbours cast members (which no one I know watches either) but six seasons on DH and Iare still watching. It's teens do Battlestar Galactica, a sort of post-apocalyptic Hollyoaks. But good.
I was coming on to say The 100. 😁
AiryFairy1 · 24/02/2021 07:18

Carefully scrolled through 7 pages to find not a single mention of my 3 superbly underrated offerings:
Judd Apatow’s “Love” on Netflix - quirky love story set in LA
Grimm - Portland cop show with a twist on fairy tales - something like 8 seasons
The Blacklist- James Spader, FBI - currently running 8th season on Sky - just love it 😍

I loved Harlots and binged all 3 series last year.

Nobody I know has heard of it let alone seen it!

FrenchyQ · 24/02/2021 07:23

airyfairy1 I forgot about love.

FrenchyQ · 24/02/2021 07:26

standrewschool. Me and my daughter love watching Jeremy wade. Especially when he doesn't catch anything after a whole episode of build up!
