Your favourite TV series that no one else you know has seen

Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

@balloonsintrees I love Ghosts! My kids are just getting into Horrible Histories and it really makes me smile that they had so much fun making a (brilliant) kids show together that they decided to do an adult one! Just gives me a warm glow at the thought of a bunch of funny lovely people sparking off each other and keeping it going, reminds me of all the stuff I used to do with my theatre group friends Smile The caveman is my favourite

It wasn't my absolute favourite or anything but I really liked Jam and Jerusalem. I keep sporadically checking to see if it's streaming anywhere but no luck so far. I can get the dvd but that's not much use as not even my laptop plays a dvd anymore. It'll probably be crap now if I try rewatching it again but Joanna Lumley doing a semi regular cameo as an ancient and musically challenged church organist always made me smile

Also I loved Spaced before it was cool. That was important when I was a teenager. The Book Group was good as well, with James Lance and Michelle Gomez.

@FallenSky

I've recently been talking to friends about a show I used to watch as a teen on channel 5 called The Tribe. New Zealand show, perhaps not the greatest acting looking back but I was obsessed with it. No one I know has ever heard of it! It's about a virus pandemic that takes out all the adults in the world leaving the kids to form a new society. Maybe not the most uplifting show to watch in the current climate though Grin
I used to watch that all the time!
Socialistmisanthropist · 26/02/2021 00:50

Classic South Bank shows on Sky Arts. If only for seeing Melvyn's amazing bouffant over the years

Quit4me · 26/02/2021 00:52

Ideal
Green wing
Night night
Misfits

Can you tell I like dark bonkers comedy 🤣

Hardly anyone I know watched these so couldn’t relate!

supermariossister · 26/02/2021 01:04

Eureka , hated it at first but really got into it.

Pushing daisies- going back so many years here but I loved this show

Ghost whisperer

CoffeeandLotsofCake · 26/02/2021 01:18

Young Americans - Ian Somerhalder and Kate Bosworth started. Set around a private school.

The Tribe - think it was Aus/NZ series. A virus kills all adults and the children are left to survive and form yep you've guessed it, tribes.

Daria - American cartoon about a high school student named Daria.

I think all 3 of these were channel 5 Saturday afternoon shows circa 2000

UniversalAunt · 26/02/2021 01:22

Many many of the above.

Call my agent - just finished.
Now on to This Is Us.

Dead like me - dark & droll.

UniversalAunt · 26/02/2021 01:24

Bluestone 42.

UniversalAunt · 26/02/2021 01:24

Plebs.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/02/2021 01:27

@AlanThePig Resident Alien is awesome. We're loving it and it fills the iZombie hole in my life as we've temporarily got rid of Netflix to watch WandaVision and Shield. The sheriff guy is the funniest.

We don't watch anything particularly niche just not what my friends watch so iZombie, the Bridge, The Great which is sometimes I bit 🤨 but it is v funny

SleepingStandingUp · 26/02/2021 01:28

In my teens (late 90s) I loved Sweat which no one else remembers but started a v young and hot Heath Ledger in right cycling shorts or occasionally less of he was on bed with his bf. It was set in an Olympic college so it must have been 98,99 ISH. God he was a beautiful man 😭😭😭

FaceyRomford · 26/02/2021 01:40

Murder in Suburbia. Ended years ago but I still miss it.

topflower123 · 26/02/2021 02:18

Recently binged Spotless on Netflix - it's a dark comedy crime scene drama, highly recommend!

Dunairbeanat · 26/02/2021 03:08

Loved Making Out and Clocking Off, brilliant UK dramas with Lesley Sharp,Philip Glenister, Margi Clark, Jason Merrells and more. Also loved William and Mary, Watching and Dinner Ladies

cortex10 · 26/02/2021 04:38

In Treatment - about a psychologist (Gabriel Byrne) who had serious issues in his own life while also conducting therapy sessions with his patients. Each episode focused on his one to one meeting with a patient and their stories emerged over time as it returned to catch up with them a few episodes later at their next appointment. It was bleak at times but well acted.

Mammyofonlyone · 26/02/2021 04:47

Nighty Night. So wrong but absolutely hilarious. Gets funnier the more you watch it.
