Your favourite TV series that no one else you know has seen

Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

Diablero - series about mexican demon hunters on Netflix, very good

bluebluezoo · 25/02/2021 19:06

Insatiable- utterly bonkers series about a fat high schooler who is assaulted, has her jaw wired, loses all the weight in 3 months, then goes on to compete in beauty pageant.

Completely mad, but I loved it.

Smelborp · 25/02/2021 19:09

Travellers on Netflix was good, I really enjoyed it and it had a proper ending - so many shows don’t! Currently watching FlashForward again on Star (Disney).

Constantly quoting Mitchell and Webb, and nobody ever gets it!

Nat970 · 25/02/2021 19:14

@sashh

I loved Tru Calling and Doll house.

Doll house well worth the watch and such a clever ending.

I also love Ghosts, in fact I spent the last 'death in paradise' saying - where do I know that actor from.

I have just binge watched the first and half of the second series of 'snowpiercer' on Netflix. Well worth a watch if you are into dystopian future sci fi. Just put any scientific

And just for nostalgia Blakes 7, only one other person at school watched it.

loved Blake 7 also Alf

Friday Night Lights
The Man in the High Castle

No one I know seems to have seen either of these. Friday Night Lights is particularly brilliant.

YouLookNiceJackie · 25/02/2021 19:15

The last man on earth on Amazon prime and also Jane the Virgin on Netflix. Both completely daft but give me well needed laughs!

swiggless · 25/02/2021 19:16

Wentworth

I so loved Jane the Virgin but whenever I try and explain the concept they look at me as if I am crazy!

Outlander, although since it has been on Channel 4, more have known it in UK. Its my go to TV.

Loved the first few series of 100, but got bored at about series 3.

Love live Crossing Lines, think its on chanel 5 now. Brilliant show with Libby from Lost in series 3. Stuart Martin is in it as well, also love Miss Scarlets and the Duke and Jamestown. He was in the last two as well. Might have a theme going here!

NiceGerbil · 25/02/2021 19:23

Blake's 7! Yay!

That Mitchell and web look is on YouTube (couldn't find it anywhere else) we rewatched the whole thing with the kids and everyone enjoyed it.

The quiz broadcast is rather close to the the bone at the moment!

I had to turn the volume off for some of the ruder bits for the kids just in case anyone decides to give it a go. It's really really good

CuteOrangeElephant · 25/02/2021 19:23

I loved The Tribe when I was a teenager, a series from New Zealand about a world without adults.

User7538943 · 25/02/2021 19:23

The Event, it was on about 10 years ago and was cancelled after one season, it was on about the same time as FlashForward which was also cancelled

Crankley · 25/02/2021 19:24

Just looking on Prime, I'm shocked that you now have to pay per episode to watch things like The Good Wife, The Mentalist and Lie to me. It's a complete rip off.

NiceGerbil · 25/02/2021 19:24

I remember the tribe! It was really good.

How about degrassi junior high, anyone?

queentsumtsum · 25/02/2021 19:26

So many of these are fantastic, yes to Black Books, Green Wing, Scot Squad, The High Life...

Ultraviolet- I was already a huge Philip Quast fan already and loved him in this

Also love Garth Marenghi's Darkplace - rewatched it recently and still found it funny

My contributions are:
'Hannibal' with Mads Mikkelsen
'Psych'

And when I was younger:
'Sean's show'

tinylittleyou · 25/02/2021 19:30

Just finished Dead Pixels and really liked it but nobody in RL seems to have seen it

Lotsofpots · 25/02/2021 19:31

Another voice for The Americans. It is superb, and gets richer and more emotionally engaging with each series. The only TV show other than The West Wing that left me feeling a bit empty inside when I finished the last episode.
