Your favourite TV series that no one else you know has seen

Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

dawnant21 · 25/02/2021 18:35

This is us. Just brilliant. Be prepared to laugh and cry.

stilllovegeorge · 25/02/2021 18:37

Definitely Better Things with Pamela Adlon. No one I know watches it but its a brilliant portrayal of the madness of family life with coping with ageing/menopause on top.

NiceGerbil · 25/02/2021 18:41
@NiceGerbil I totally remember The Ritz and The Adventure Game is my favourite programme in the world ever
Yeeessssss!

You're the only person I've ever met who does!!!

The Ritz is on YouTube. Very grainy but it's there!!!

NiceGerbil · 25/02/2021 18:43

Also a big wave to the poster who remembers Lexx! Yes it was very very odd.

Rutger Hauer was in a/some episodes... It's all a bit hazy!

HarrietOh · 25/02/2021 18:43

The Detectorists. Never heard of it before until I saw it mentioned on a “best tv series ever” thread on here and wow! Can’t believe it’s not more well known to be honest.

alwaysthepessimist · 25/02/2021 18:44

The offspring - Aussie soap/drama type thing on Netflix, have binge watched all 7 series and sobbed at some episodes - loved it, very sad it’s finished now

Mochudubh · 25/02/2021 18:45

NRTFT so apologies if these gave been mentioned.
Orphan Black - If you loved Nolan in Revenge you'll love Felix.
Luna Nera. - Netflix series about witches in 17th (I think) Century Italy - Only one season so far but hopefully more.
Always a Witch - Columbian series about a teenage witch from 1700s transported to modern day.
Nobody's Looking - Quirky Brazilian comedy drama about "Angelus" who are supposed to look out for humans until one goes rogue.
Glitch - Australian drama about a small town where the dead are coming back to life.

Smarticus · 25/02/2021 18:46

I loved Ideal with Johnny Vegas .......Cartoon-head 🤣
Also The Riches with Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver. It ended abruptly because of lack of funding.
I like Scot Squad but everyone else thinks it’s pants!

HarrietOh · 25/02/2021 18:46

Oh also I’m two series into The Americans now and really enjoying it, I’ve never known anyone mention it before!

joesev · 25/02/2021 18:46

LunaNorth dont you feel You Can Speak French by the end of an episode? 🤣🤣
On a more serious note I like the subtitles, it makes me properly concentrate, not chk my phone etc. I think it's perfect TV to utterly absorb you such that yr not thinking about Everything Else.

charliebear78 · 25/02/2021 18:48

I loved Doll House.
Nikita.( had a crush on Maggie Q)

Rokerwriter · 25/02/2021 18:49

Panticus I have found my people. I thought I was the only person who watched The Leftovers. So, so good.

Mochudubh · 25/02/2021 18:51

@Beyondridiculous

Lillyhammer
That was brilliant, such a shame it was cancelled.
Santiago1 · 25/02/2021 18:51

Brothers and Sisters (It's SO good!), Looking, Brooklyn Nine-Nine (funniest show I've ever seen).

Labobo · 25/02/2021 18:53

Patriot about a folk singing hitman pretending to be an oil-pipe engineer. Sheer brilliance. I was gutted when it got axed. Way way way better than I just made it sound.

TheLibraryIsOpen · 25/02/2021 18:55

I remember a BBC1 series called Your Cheating Heart starred Tilda Swinton and I thought it was amazing.

charliebear78 · 25/02/2021 19:00

Here's one I bet no one ever saw!
The nine lives of Chloe King-It only ever had a season 1- Was really naff but I enjoyed it.

charliebear78 · 25/02/2021 19:00
