Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

The Night Of
Condor

Lord of Misrule. A Drama with Richard Wilson as a former Lord Chancellor selling his memoirs to the highest bidder. It's wonderful and very funny.

BobsDouble · 24/02/2021 22:59

Legacy - Danish family drama. Fabulous. Never come across anyone else who has heard of it, let alone watched it.

I remember and adored chamomile Lawn. I’d love to see that again.

King of queens

Alocasia · 24/02/2021 23:00

Caliphate on Netflix. It’s so good. Definitely one of the best dramas I’ve watched in years.

ParadiseLaundry · 24/02/2021 23:03

Oh I remember the Camomile Lawn! I've just looked and I must have been 9 when I watched it Shock

I remember thinking the name Calypso was the most glamorous name ever and swore I would call my daughter that if I had one!

So pleased to see so much love for Revenge (and the fabulous Nolan). I rewatched it recently and enjoyed it every bit as much the second time around!

RosieLemonade · 24/02/2021 23:17

Friday Night Lights is my ultimate favourite. So well acted and full of heart. You don't need to know anything about American football to enjoy it. Very very young Michael B Jordan is in it.
The Let Down is a brilliant Australian comedy about motherhood. So funny and well written.
I loved Girls but anything with Lena Dunham in feels a bit awkward now.
Crashing which is a comedy about young people living in a disused hospital. Only one series sadly.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 24/02/2021 23:17

So glad a few other people have seen Halt and Catch Fire! It’s so, so good.

anastasiakrupnik · 24/02/2021 23:22
@anastasiakrupnik I loved the 100!! I must get bk to it. I watched it up until Annie (I think) was overturned by the main girl beating the chip/implant thing. I'm gonna look now and see if it's on 4od. Thanks for the reminder! It was years ago that I last watched it.
Ooo I hope you do, S4 continues in a similar way, then 5 & 6 have gloriously bonkers new set-ups to keep the disaster going. S7 (final one) has gone awol in the UK though, bit worrying.

DH and I always treat it like a joke but really we're bowled over by the sheer volume of bad ass women, massively outnumbering men, without ever being about that, same with the LGBT elements, I think it's really impressive!

Stitchyfingers · 24/02/2021 23:24

@viques I was coming on to say Life in Pieces. I've watched it twice now and absolutely love it. Even got DP hooked on it and he doesn't like anything on TV. So sad it was cancelled.

Egghead68 · 24/02/2021 23:24

@duckme

The Thick of It. I love it and no one I know has ever watched it, despite my constant recommendations!
Same here.
1990s · 24/02/2021 23:25

One Tree Hill!

Keep trying to find Friday Night Lights but I missed it on Prime and now you have to pay extra everywhere...
GlamourSpider · 24/02/2021 23:26

Godless

anastasiakrupnik · 24/02/2021 23:27

I was about to add The Letdown! Ifound it funnier (to my taste) than Motherland.

In last few years of Netflix, amongst all the endless crime drama, we also loved GLOW - that was a ray of light!

Egghead68 · 24/02/2021 23:49

The Windsors

I loved Caliphate too. I didn't manage to convince anyone to watch it - my mum tried and found it too confronting Confused It had me totally gripped - great viewing.

Used to love Catterick years ago. People look blankly if I’ve ever mentioned it, but it was so funny if you like Vic & Bob humour

BikeRunSki · 25/02/2021 02:47

Workin’ Moms - Netflix

Like a really sassy version of Motherland

ChangedName4TheSakeOfIt · 25/02/2021 02:53

Not my fave but I do remember loving it back in something like 2000. No one I know has even heard of it but it's The 10th Kingdom.
And on that same note, a much more recent, Grimm. Another one I adore but only the kids and I are fans.

I didn't know it had been cancelled, I keep checking back on prime for more episodes as it just seemed to stop in the middle of a season. I can stop that now

Celticdawn5 · 25/02/2021 07:13

Shtisel . On Netflix.

Celticdawn5 · 25/02/2021 07:13

I watched the 10th Kingdom and really enjoyed it at the time

SEE123 · 25/02/2021 07:20

Sneaky Pete - follows the escapes of a confidence man, who after leaving prison infiltrates his cell mate's family and assumes his identity.

Celticdawn5 · 25/02/2021 07:21

On Netflix am currently watching Community
