Your favourite TV series that no one else you know has seen

Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

@DoreensEatingHerSoreen
I loved Hunters - keep telling people to watch it. You are so right about the last episode - I woke up the next day and said to DH - is that what really happened in that episode or did I dream it?
Am I right in thinking there was talk of a second series?

bluebluezoo · 24/02/2021 21:25

The chamomile lawn - with felicity kendal

Bloody loved this. Also the Vacillations of Poppy Carew with Tara Fitzgerald, joseph fiennes, charlotte coleman. Same author.

Cold Comfort Farm is another one along those lines...

Life on BBCiplayer now. Those of you that liked Mum I think will like this.

The programmes that replaced Doctors over the last couple of Summers:

The Heights, an Australian drama, can't see it on TV anywhere. Hope they repeat it.

Five Bedrooms also an Australian drama. On BBCiplayer now.

800 Words New Zealand drama. On BBCiplayer.

The Heart Guy Sky Drama Channel

The Brokenwood Mysteries Sky Drama Channel

I used to love a series about a ship sailing round the Barrier Reef

Was it Jacques Cousteau? Kind of an ur-Blue Planet?

I used to like that Smile

I saw the The Chamomile Lawn and liked it at the time. I've since had a rewatch and couldn't see the attraction but can't remember the story now. I think it might basically have been one of those Brideshead clones which rode a coat-tail for a few years.

Anyone remember I Claudius?

Shaky plywood scenery, Brian Blessed shouting, rabid plotting, swords, sandals and bonkers emperors. It had it all...

And on that theme did anyone see Rome? Only two series but it was like I Claudius on speed Smile

CathyorClaire · 24/02/2021 21:37

Bang up to date - The Path on Amazon Prime. Elements of every church brainwashing event I ever endured and infuriatingly cancelled so I'll never know if Hugh Dancy ended up in chains Angry

notyetamumbuttrying · 24/02/2021 21:46

@anastasiakrupnik I loved the 100!! I must get bk to it. I watched it up until Annie (I think) was overturned by the main girl beating the chip/implant thing. I'm gonna look now and see if it's on 4od. Thanks for the reminder! It was years ago that I last watched it.

Wtfdidwedo · 24/02/2021 21:50

@CathyorClaire I loved Rome as a teenager sneakily watching the sex scenes Grin I may rewatch actually as I really enjoyed it.

IEat · 24/02/2021 22:02

Flash Forward it was brilliant. They only made 1 series apparently so the network could make more Glee (load of crap)

midsomermurderess · 24/02/2021 22:16

The Leftovers did have an ending. Not tied up in a neat bow, how could it be, but it reached a conclusion.

Graphista · 24/02/2021 22:17
