Your favourite TV series that no one else you know has seen

Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

Banshee!

Riskybiscuits · 24/02/2021 19:31

@NiceGerbil I have seen all of Darkplace many times. And seen 'Todd Rivers' play live Smile

@Graphista, Future Man is GOLD! Derek Wilson was wonderful in it.

Teachers, with a young Andrew Lincoln

'Mum' with Lesley Manville is amazing (iplayer)
The Good Fight (good wife spin off)

everythingbackbutyou · 24/02/2021 19:37

@viques, make room for me on your desert island. I love Life In Pieces. I've always liked Dianne Wiest and I love Colin Hanks' character and his wife, but all of the cast are good.

TartanCurtains · 24/02/2021 19:38

@grapewine

Santa Clarita Diet was hilarious, and it's criminal that it only got one season.

I also absolutely love Lucifer. But I know a lot of people who watch it.

Another old one was introduced to me when I lived in the UK and told someone I'd watch anything Dame Judi is in: As Time Goes By. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the box set.

I came on to say Santa Clarita Diet, but it actually got three seasons. There's a treat for you @grapewine if you haven't seen them all!

Also Dark. I was sceptical about the subtitles, but it was amazing.

Both were recommendations from people I met online dating. So at least it's been fruitful in some respects Grin

Flaked with Will Arnett. Set in Venice Beach, really good characters and moving. He is also perfect in Arrested Development- I think Lucille Bluth in AD is a major inspiration for Moria Rose in Schitt's Creek

Ooh! Thank you, @TartaCurtains. Will definitely check that out.

grapewine · 24/02/2021 19:43

That should be @TartanCurtains

I loved Sabrina the teenage witch in the 90's but felt like i was probably too old now to enjoy the Netflix reboot of it. However, I ended up totally addicted to it. It's not everybody's cup of tea and it wouldn't usually be something I'd watch but I really enjoyed it.

MrsJBaptiste · 24/02/2021 19:54

'Just the one Mrs Wembley' and 'Language Timothy!' are regularly used in our house 😁

30not13 · 24/02/2021 19:54

@crochetmonkey74

Carnivale American Gothic- I LOVED THIS Millennium Taken - A miniseries - not the Liam Neeson film

Can you tell I like spooky stuff?

Ahhh Taken that was ace!
YesIDoLoveCrisps · 24/02/2021 20:06

@SingleHandSue Drifters is hilarious!

Absy · 24/02/2021 20:06
@asby ROBH is on ITV be at the moment, in fact along with all of the other RH franchises it's on there pretty much continuously, no need to pay although they'll be more recent series. Is it only BH that you like?
!!!!! Amazing!

I tried RHONY but two episodes in it was nowhere near as good. The most controversial thing was a tennis match. I think two episodes into RHOBH there was a toddler birthday party that cost $60,000. A friend recommended the Atlanta one so I should try it out

ShakeaHettyFeather · 24/02/2021 20:12

Mongrels.

Animal puppets living in East London go about their lives and provide the filthiest humour that's ever emerged from the BBC. As in it starts with an elderly lady dying and her cats eating her, includes a song about canine paedophilia, and has a sneaky fox and a sarcastic pigeon.

Imagine if Chris Morris or the Jerry Springer Opera took over some Muppets.

Maireas · 24/02/2021 20:14

Beauty and the Baker - lovely comedy drama on Walter Presents.

RickOShay · 24/02/2021 20:16

People just do Nothing on iplayer now. It’s so so funny. It’s brilliant.
My sister and I are the only people I know who’ve watched it.

RHOA is a fave of mine! Highly recommended!

I quoted the wrong message there, sorry @ShakeaHettyFeather

MumofSpud · 24/02/2021 20:24

@Furrybutts

You Rang 'Ma Lord. Absolutely love it and have watched all 4 series countless times. Never gets old.
I went to see a filming of this back in the day - can't remember why - I don't remember being a fan. The floor manager (?) kept on telling us (the audience) all off as we weren't laughing!!
StateOfTheUterus · 24/02/2021 20:37

Unreal on Prime. No one has ever seen it but it is absolutely brilliant with really strong but flawed characters. It’s a fictionalised account of how a reality show is made. I found myself rooting for the main character who is a producer of the show who was manipulating the contestants - while simultaneously being appalled by her behaviour.

SomeRandomerOnBumsnet · 24/02/2021 20:42

@Literallynoidea

OMG I hated This Is Us! Schmaltzy American rubbish.

Agree about the Jinx - great telly, although all my friends watched it.

I have recently enjoyed Firefly Lane but none of my friends have seen it.

Same, I found This is Us so boring and dull, shame as my friends raved about it.

Love it, so funny, especially the first two series. My sister loves it too Smile
SomeRandomerOnBumsnet · 24/02/2021 20:45

Rev. It was on BBC iPlayer. I never see it mentioned on here and it was BRILLIANT.
