Your favourite TV series that no one else you know has seen

Currently unable to sleep so thought I would ask others!

I feel like I’ve seen everything that’s regularly recommended but I have a few TV shows I love that rarely ever come up in discussions. I figured I would share mine and maybe others could share theirs and we can all find something new to us!

The main ones that come to mind for me are:
Silicon Valley
Barry
Carnivale
Party Dowb

Almost all HBO so harder to get hold of but all absolutely brilliant and worth seeking out.

Also 30 Rock and The Shield - these come up more often but still not widely seen in the UK

What are yours?

I have a confession to make, I hate Netflix it's absolute dross!

crochetmonkey74 · 24/02/2021 10:00

Also Apparitions- Martin Shaw as a priest fighting demons- loved this

Afterlife with Lesley Sharp- brilliant

And one that no one has ever seen but I loved- Saxondale- a Steve Coogan comedy with Ruth JOnes too- I can never find it anywhere !

@MonochromeMinnie

Third Rock From the Sun and Becker. Love both but none of our family or friends have seen them.
I do wish they would re run Third Rock!

My vote is for Life in Pieces, amazing cast of very talented actors, very funny scripts, no canned laughter, and no one else in the world has ever watched it it seems, except me.

Amazon Prime is much less useful in Ireland (where I am) so not many people here have it. I try to keep my online purchases to smaller companies anyway and only buy from Amazon when I can't find it anywhere else, so am better off paying for the individual delivery rather than a monthly fee for Prime. Also a lot of the Prime films and series that are available in the UK aren't available in Ireland. Plus now that Brexit has happened Amazon products are more expensive, since we end up paying both UK VAT and Irish VAT.

I probably have Prime more often than most people here as I always take it if they offer a free month, plus I'll pay for a month if a new season of The Expanse comes out.

Whitney168 · 24/02/2021 10:11

NCIS and The Blacklist surely can't count with that many series under their belts? Love them both.

@Subwaylunch has mentioned the one I am chomping for series 3 - The Rookie, I just love it.

Mrsjayy · 24/02/2021 10:23

We loved Tin star with Tim Roth it's quite violent though,we binged last series in a day

Docketpuo · 24/02/2021 10:42

Ooh loved a few mentioned here: Lucifer, tru blood, ghosts (if you liked that try Spirited in Amazon Prime) green wing, coupling.
More recently :
The Librarians (silly fun but utterly entertaining)
The Magicians ( getting darker by the episode but I'm hooked, a bit like Tru Blood).

Jericha · 24/02/2021 10:43

Yes to carnivale! For me it's tim and Eric, awesome show great job.

Docketpuo · 24/02/2021 10:43

Liked good omens too,and the Santa Clarita diet.

bluebluezoo · 24/02/2021 10:50

Saving Hope - hospital/ghosty type drama.

grapewine · 24/02/2021 10:54

Santa Clarita Diet was hilarious, and it's criminal that it only got one season.

I also absolutely love Lucifer. But I know a lot of people who watch it.

Another old one was introduced to me when I lived in the UK and told someone I'd watch anything Dame Judi is in: As Time Goes By. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the box set.

LondonStone · 24/02/2021 10:58

I came to see if my two choices had been mentioned and they had! @Graphista I think we would be friends as I was going to say White Collar and Lie To Me! Grin

How can the entirety of Netflix be dross?

There’s such a massive range of content, some new, some from other sources - I can’t believe anyone can’t find something they enjoy on Netflix!

@MoonMallow

Halt and Catch Fire
Yes! Didn't think I'd see it mentioned on here. Great show
HermioneKipper · 24/02/2021 11:18

I love superstore too and no one I know has watched it!

DH and I were obsessed with Justified - think one of my favourite programmes ever. But every time I’ve suggested it to anyone they look nonplussed!

HermioneKipper · 24/02/2021 11:18

The Mentalist was amazing as well

janlevinson · 24/02/2021 11:20

Haven't read the thread so not sure if it's been mentioned but a few years ago I was addicted to Damages (Glenn Close, Rose Byrne).
No-one I know seems to ever have seen it but it's such a great show.

Weloveoptimus · 24/02/2021 11:25

I still watch
HOME TO ROOST (John Thaw)
THAT'S MY BOY (Mollie Sugden)
And I also like WATCHING from the 80s. It was about an unlikely couple who loved birdwatching.

Fandangoes · 24/02/2021 11:26

a really old one - The Happy Apple, it had Lesley Ash working in a marketing agency, I loved it but I have never met anyone else who watched it

janlevinson · 24/02/2021 11:34
