What are the most memorable, unique, or lovely dog names you've come across that you will never forget?

I met a dog called Beetlejuice today, thought it was brilliant! I also used to know a dog called midnight, never met another one but always loved the name.

We recently met a Standard Poodle called Mavis. It suited her perfectly!

A Yorkshire Terrier called Egon, after the Ghost Busters character.

@TableFlowerss
Maybe it was short for Sarah Jessica Barker, which is the best dog name I've ever heard, although via the internet rather than in real life!

Agree about dogs with 'human' names being the best; Dave, Gary etc.

My auntie had a terrifying Chihuahua called Mega Pixel.

I've known dogs called:
Groover, Mr. MacDoogall, Susan, Osiris and Alan.

We've always named our dogs people names, but it can present an odd look a new neighbor's face when they get out and you have to chase them down the street in your pajamas yelling "George, George, come back here!"

I used to know a giant schnauzer called Hoof.
And a whippet called Spindle.

I have a neighbour with a Yorkshire terrier called Gary.

i have said this before over the eyars on MN (under different names).

But we came across a beautiful liver coloured spaniel being led around a park in London by a gorgeous boy aged maybe 10. we asked his name and the little boy said 'Gordon Brown'. When we laughed with appreciation at the great name the little boy clutched the lead tightly and said earnestly 'We are very proud of him'. It made me actually tear up. The pride and joy expressed by this young man was just such an utter delight.

I knew of a Bruce

I saw a dog Walker near me the other day with around 6 dogs, all but one were designer type pooches. Expensive dog coats etc. One dog was a bit of a mutt, no coat but the most gorgeous face. Slowly bringing up the rear of the group of dogs somewhat halfheartedly.
The dog walker said “come on, Jensen, there’s a good boy” and I instantly decided if I ever get a male dog, I’ll be calling him Jensen.

I like boring slightly old fashioned human names. Allen, Darren, Sandra that sort of thing.

Chottie · 22/02/2021 17:08

We met a dog called Boris today, he was a bloodhound and we both agreed his name really suited him......

MUNGO! Shouted loudly across clapham common, little pug trotted out from behind a bush back to its flamboyantly dressed owner.

HesSpartacus · 22/02/2021 17:20

Diggory, belonging to a very friendly, bouncy hound - I thought it was a great name.

My DH dog was called Hero. He was a stray Beagle they took in. DH came in from the pub as a teen worst for wear and decided to grill sausages then fell asleep. The dog barked and woke him up to a room full of smoke and burn sausages on fire. So he was named Hero. Knowing him like I did I suspect he just wanted to eat them, he was a greedy dog. Grin
