What are the most memorable, unique, or lovely dog names you've come across that you will never forget?

I met a dog called Beetlejuice today, thought it was brilliant! I also used to know a dog called midnight, never met another one but always loved the name.

My first dachshund was Max Planck. Well, dogs are supposed to be constant, after all.

My boys have fish called Margaret and Bob.

Best dog's name ever was in a park, Douglas. Doug for short ( but pronounced 'dug' which is Scots for dog. We're in Scotland. Genius).

Always said our Airedale should have been called Willy Eckerslike.

As in Willy Eckerslike do as he's told. It works best in broad West Yorkshire accent.

There was a Basset Hound back where my parents live, amusingly called Mycroft.

Old neighbourhood there was a bloody huge, muscular dog called Susan Boyle.
Friend had a tea cup yorkie, about 20 odd years ago, called Buster. That used to make me laugh because the name was popular with boxers and staffies etc at that time.
Also knew an Elvis, Jolene, Jagger and Cilla.
Friend's cat years ago was Mr BoJangles.
My previous dogs were named for things associated with the football team I support (too outing). My elderly cross breed is called Mildred.

I once came across the most enormous muscly, super manly, looked like he would give Bear Grylls a run for his money, with a teeny Dachshund puppy, this pup was absolutely adorable.

The dog was called Mr Perkins.
Grin

A rather portly Labrador was called Humphrey.

Was it Holly Johnson that had a dog called Boogie so that if it jumped on the sofa he could shout “Get down Boogie!” ?

If I had 2 Scottie dogs, I'd turn to Macbeth for inspiration and the chance to say at walkies time 'out, damned Spot!' and 'Lead on, McDuff'.

MsMiaWallace · 22/02/2021 09:22

Our pug is called Vinnie.
We've a British bulldog called Ma too.

NotSeenBulling · 22/02/2021 09:26

When we were on honeymoon we met a man with an Italian Spinone. I had a rescue IS so I wanted to go say hello and ask if the weird quirks mine had were all his or part of the breed as there were relatively few in the country at the time.

This Spinone was called 'Rewind' because he was so lazy. The owner said that he sleeps 23 hours a day and is bone idle about everything. I thought it was a brilliant name.

TheVanguardSix · 22/02/2021 09:27

Our childhood dog growing up was named Phyllis.
My brothers' nickname for her was syphilis. Grin

There was a local Jack Russell years ago named Picnic. I think that's the best name I've ever heard.

Our cat came to us with the name Mr. Collins.
