What are the most memorable, unique, or lovely dog names you've come across that you will never forget?

I met a dog called Beetlejuice today, thought it was brilliant! I also used to know a dog called midnight, never met another one but always loved the name.

Dd has a sausage called Frank Furter. I’d love one Called Schnitzel Von Crumb (with the very low tum).

As a child I had a dog I christened Tingo. To this day I have no idea what that means but I liked it so I called him Tingo. I was a weird kid.

Neighbour had a Rottweiler called Kevin. My sister had a medium rescue mongrel called John. I had a dachshund called Lolly and a greyhound called Roy.

GaryUnicorn · 21/02/2021 23:29

I also had two goldfish, called Shirley and Malcom (after old neighbours!)

If I ever have another dog I want to call it Cement after the grey dog in the Clarice Bean books.

It would have to be grey though. Limiting.

An old farrier who drank in my pub (in the olden days when one could have such acquaintances) had two beautiful springers and used to pick up for various local shoots. His dogs were famous.

Chyb (Come Here You Bastard) and Adgie (the very useful adjustable spaniel)

Now he has a pup called Alf.

Short for Another Little Fucker.

Our wee pug is named Django after Django Reinhardt, the famous jazz musician. People always comment that he has a great name!

My aunt and uncle found and took in a poodle/dachsund mix. The dog's hair was overgown and matted and it had been abused terribly so they could not immediately tell the gender. They decided Alsace if a boy, Lorraine if a girl. Turned out to be a boy and we called him Allie.

The same aunt and uncle also adopted a husky mix and they called him Iggy (after an Igloo, since Alaska).

I always though both names we so clever.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 21/02/2021 23:52

I knew of a dog called Gary. He was a German Shepherd cross., owned by a neighbour when I was young. We were scared of him as kids but he was a lovely dog, it was his bark that made us jump!!

The owner of our local pub used to have a sausage dog called Dave, back in the early 00s.
