Vegetarian sushi that comes in same takeaway tray as salmon sushi?!

(Assuming you like sushi of course)

No

kennelmaid · 20/02/2021 18:13

No I wouldn't, but I would complain to the takeaway shop owner.

CBAtoWalk · 20/02/2021 18:18

I work in a takeaway and we package all veggie and vegan stuff separately.

It's a chain with pre packaged selections so it's not unexpected. Oops. I owe an apology to one of my children for suggesting he is fussy.

I would have eaten it but dh ate meat while I was veggie for a while and we’d cook our meals in the same oven.

That’s not to say that a restaurant should have provided veggie sushi next to salmon sushi though. They should have served it separately.

PurpleDaisies · 20/02/2021 18:22

Plenty of people seem to think you can be a vegetarian who eats fish. A school I worked in once had fish fingers as a veggie option. I wonder if that’s why they came on the same tray.

SimonJT · 20/02/2021 18:23

Definitely not.

StiffLittleFingerrs · 20/02/2021 18:25

Nope ew

NeverEnoughCake2 · 20/02/2021 18:25

Another no vote here I'm afraid

Blue2021 · 20/02/2021 18:26

Nope definitely not x

bloodywhitecat · 20/02/2021 18:26

I am a meat eater but no, if I were veggie I wouldn't eat that.

spiderlight · 20/02/2021 18:26

No, definitely not.

AliceBanned · 20/02/2021 18:28

No. I tried vegetarian sushi once and hated it. I thought it tasted of fish. Maybe my imagination because of the association but I do think fish has a very strong taste and can easily taint other food if it’s served/stored alongside.

Strawberrylacesmmm · 20/02/2021 18:29

DS1 is clearly going to be more disciplined/principled about how he eats than my attempt at being vegetarian (I go through fish eating phases). Wouldn't have bothered me to have things packaged together.

Lessstressedhemum · 20/02/2021 18:31

No, I wouldn't.

PippinStar · 20/02/2021 18:33

I’m normally pretty flexible about these things but I wouldn’t in this case - I couldn’t stand the fishy smell / taste that would inevitably be on the veggie sushi.

lanbro · 20/02/2021 18:34

Ha, my colleague made tuna sandwiches for a vegetarian afternoon tea today and got arsey when I said he had to change them! Although today we also had another vegetarian afternoon tea that requested 1 sausage roll. I did put it in the same box but I cling wrapped it as it just seemed so odd!

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 20/02/2021 18:35

Sorry but no I wouldn't eat that.
Vegetarians don't eat anything that has a face so fish is definitely out.

RampantIvy · 20/02/2021 18:36

My DD wouldn't either.

3littlerabbits · 20/02/2021 18:46

I wouldn’t eat the salmon sushi. I would eat the veggie sushi sitting next to it, say with a bit of avocado in it. Can see no reason why not to. So what if it’s on the same tray?

1starwars2 · 20/02/2021 18:46

I would and I am vegan and have almost never eaten meat (maybe in the 1970s). However many vegetarian friends absolutely would not.
It depends on your reason. I want to prevent animal suffering and leaving the veghi sushi would have no effect on that.
However if you just think meat and fish are disgusting that's a different issue.

Stovetopespresso · 20/02/2021 18:48

yeah I'd eat it! I don't care what tray it's on, that's not the point for me.

mathanxiety · 20/02/2021 18:49

Yes.

I have no way of knowing if the same person wearing the same gloves handled all the sushi that was being packed into various packaging.

I'm not going to become tied up in the what ifs. I do the best I can. I expect others to understand vegetarian concerns but there is no realistic way to police all vendors all the time.

its not about eating it, it's about being on the same tray
