All 4DC through the shower and hair washed and I’ve had a long chat with one of my sisters, which was lovely.

Squirrel26 · 19/02/2021 21:00

The corridor men appeared to have properly moved in. At one point when I went out there were about 6 on them, and an assortment of tool bags on the floor all along the wall. Also, there was a high vis gilet hanging on a mysterious door they'd opened to reveal a whole load of pipes.

No idea what they're up to. Probably there was an email explaining it that I didn't read.

Squirrel26 · 19/02/2021 21:01

(Or maybe no one except me can see them...)

Sunbird24 · 19/02/2021 21:07

Ooh @Squirrel26, imaginary corridor men would definitely be a sign you’ve been in lockdown too long!

Champagneforeveryone · 19/02/2021 21:35

squirrel your "mysterious door" really made me chuckle Grin

When Hopalong DDog2 was at the vets there were a number of men clustered round a hole in the ground outside. They were all wearing orange high viz and staring into the hole in a manner that boded nothing but ill. Funnily enough my first thought was this thread Grin

EggyPegg · 20/02/2021 00:32

How's Hopalong doing @Champagneforeveryone?
As an aside; who is Hopalong Cassidy? As when I typed Hopalong, it offered me that as the next suggested word.

Tonight DH and I went old-school and watched a DVD. We found a box of them in the loft as we were sorting it and we'd both said recently that we fancied it (The Replacements). I had two glasses of Bailey's and now I'm feeling slightly merry.

Squirrel26 · 20/02/2021 08:45

Once you start looking, it’s AMAZING just how many men in high vis there are hanging around, looking very seriously at things. Very rarely women in high vis (excluding runners/ cyclists of course. I’m talking occupant high vis.)

They’re probably all spies.

Squirrel26 · 20/02/2021 08:46

*occupational high vis. Stupid autocorrect.

Champagneforeveryone · 20/02/2021 09:53

eggy she has a fractured toe. All strapped up and vacillating wildly between being very sorry for herself and her giant foot, and leaping around like a jumping bean because the support means it doesn't hurt.

And in line with the current theme, even DH has high viz (and a serious look - he says they teach them that at college) Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/02/2021 09:59

Good morning, I see a lot of - usually men - in high vis, too. But then I work in construction management and can force them via stern e-mails to adhere to regulations Grin.

HelenaJustina · 20/02/2021 11:52

I’m partial to a high-vis myself. I don one twice a day for gate/car park duty during term time (it’s in the Risk Assessment).

OrdinaryLife · 20/02/2021 11:59

Love the return of the men in high vis. Dcat is mewing insistently at me as I took a small bowl out of the cupboard. Clearly I don't understand those are just for her tuna Grin

Spudlet · 20/02/2021 12:28

It’s quite nice weather here today so we’ve spent the morning on the garden. DH has trimmed the hedges and I’ve done a lot of weeding and tidying. There is a weird, smelly, daisy like plant that thrives in the borders and crowds everything else out so I’ve been removing that - I filled the wheelbarrow with the bloody stuff today already. It will be at least a weekly task now to keep on top of it. I don’t know what it is, but it is rampant.

Loving the return of the men in high-vis!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/02/2021 12:35

I tried to find a place that sells potting soil for a reasonable price as we want to start on tomatoes, peppers and flowers for the bees. Not that easy in lockdown, but I found one and feel now slightly successful.

I am watching Daoxiang and deeply regrett not knowing Chinese - probably too late for me and I am not very musical so tones are a problem.

Therainisback · 20/02/2021 15:52

Eggy* Hopalong Cassidy was one of my mum's phrases & I still use it occasionally. I had a feeling it was a tv series so I've just googled it. It was originally a book written in 1904, then films & series between 1952 -1954. He was a cowboy.

Spudlet · 20/02/2021 16:53

DS just rode his pedal bike for the first time! He’s had it for over a year but hasn’t been bothered about it much - far more interested in turning it over and watching how the wheels span with the pedals. He insisted on bringing it on our walk and tbh we expected it to make it all of 20 yards before we had to carry it home so we didn’t even get his helmet on - well, he rode it most of the way around, either pedalling with DH holding onto him (pretty much resting a hand on his shoulder for reassurance) or using it like a balance bike. Very proud of him.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/02/2021 17:15

@spudlet - That's great for DS!

When DS had to learn to ride a bike, DH spent several weeks with him, starting from getting to know the bike, over how to take it up and turn it, to getting up and actually riding it. He never got his licence, though.

Taswama · 20/02/2021 17:39

I just did a YouTube yoga video in German. I first started yoga when I lived in Germany so it was pleasingly familiar.

MissConductUS · 20/02/2021 19:30

A little metal lever on the snowblower has broken. The snowblower shop does not have a replacement but says they can fix it, but not until Monday. Since this is the winter from hell, more snow is in the forecast for Monday.

I've just finished filing the tax return for a trust my lovely MIL setup to help pay for DS's uni expenses. I'll do DD's tomorrow, God willing.

We finally had our pancake evening. With strawberries.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/02/2021 20:00

Pancakes, lovely. I hope you had a lovely time. I like them with powdery sugar or nutspread.

I have taken the plunge and booked myself a corona bloodtest for antibodies. DH's came back with a tiny amount of antibodies, so I want to find out the status quo before my OP.

chocolateisavegetable · 20/02/2021 20:13

Thanks Prokup - they were lovely. Best wishes for your op Flowers

Sunbird24 · 20/02/2021 20:24

I’ve got some pancakes in the fridge, and either Nutella or lemon & sugar to have with them.

Sunbird24 · 20/02/2021 20:24

When is your op @Prokupatuscrakedatus?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/02/2021 20:30

@sunbird24
On the 3rd - hopefully - they want to keep me in for 2 nights to make sure that I really do as I'm told and then 3 weeks of sick leave, and 6 weeks wearing this "thing" (new word: Vorderfußteilentlastungsschuh).
I am looking forward to walking without pain and wearing sandals in summer.
