I watched a few episodes of Grey's Anatomy, then had to stop. Every patient who came in wound up in surgery. And surgeons do not tend to form relationships with their patients.

There's an old joke in healthcare. "What's the difference between God and a surgeon? God doesn't think he's a surgeon."

The only medical drama I enjoyed was Nurse Jackie on Amazon Prime. It was much more realistic and funny at the same time.

Started getting Dr who blu ray collections enjoying looking at yellow themed kitchen stuff, on a less happy note after 3 months of mud we now have a period so let’s see how we go on from here.

HildaTablet · 08/03/2021 17:07

I went out for a walk (it’s a lovely sunny day here) and when I came back, Mr T had resumed work on the small fence he’s been painstakingly planning and building to prevent our escape-artist tortoise from legging it over the low wall which we thought he couldn’t scale - we discovered we were wrong about this last summer when we caught him swaggering about smugly on top of it. Temporary measures had to be put in place (sheets of hardboard) but Mr T is determined to build his special tortoise picket fence.

The tortoise is still in hibernation just now but will be emerging shortly and will find all escape routes blocked ❌

@Squirrel26

I was a bit Hmm when I heard that Grey’s Anatomy was going to ‘address the pandemic’ in their next series, because it turns out pandemics are BORING. Even if you work in a hospital. Sad and stressful and scary but jeez, really samey. It’s not really like their typical ‘An experimental space rocket has crashed on a school bus full of children!’ storyline.

There’s a step ladder in the middle of the corridor with a pair of legs standing on the top of it. I assume the rest of them is up in the ceiling.

Are they high-vis legs?
OverweightPidgeon · 08/03/2021 17:11

I’ve just booked my vaccine! Every time I chose a date it said that had been taken and to choose another one- got there in the end though.

MissConductUS · 08/03/2021 17:11

Are they high-vis legs?

And more importantly, are they moving at all? It's possible that the poor bloke has expired in that position and is being held in place by rigor mortise. Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/03/2021 17:45

Or the ceiling contents is really really boring and he went to sleep?

soddingkitten · 08/03/2021 17:48

MissC - The part has been ordered directly from the manufacturer. There is a shortage nationally. I’m assuming one of 2 scenarios: 1) it is manufactured in the UK and production is affected by COVID safety regulations and/or staff are furloughed, and 2) it is being manufactured overseas and is affected by import snags (many Brexit/EU customs issues ATM) +/- factors of (1) in the other country. 🤷‍♂️

Sunbird24 · 08/03/2021 18:46

I’ve just got into bed with a heat pack under my feet and a share bag of mint aero bubbles in my hand - they’re a bit optimistic making the pack resealable...

Champagneforeveryone · 08/03/2021 19:40

I finally managed to buy a car

We've just had mushroom shawarma which was excellent. Then we are having a family evening in front of Megan and Harry later - we even have popcorn Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/03/2021 19:44

sunbird Smile
I walked accross the flat to DD's room and took a bar of nut chocolate as reward and some ibuprofen. (I am exempt from fasting bc. of the surgery.) DD is the keeper of all unneccessary food in this house.

Nydj · 08/03/2021 20:04

I hope all children who went back to school today settled in ok and their parents enjoyed the respite.

DH made enough pasta to feed a whole other family for this evening’s dinner. This is very unusual as normally, I am the one who always makes way too much while DH makes just enough.

Champagneforeveryone · 08/03/2021 20:10

Ooh, I nearly forgot... lockdown continues at its usual breakneck speed here.

Today I de-bobbled DH's favourite "grandad" jumper

Squirrel26 · 08/03/2021 20:14

The legs were not high vis, but the stepladder was. They were both gone when I left, so either the owner was alive and came down and tidied them away, or they were not and someone else came and removed the body OR someone came and moved the stepladder and they are stuck up in the ceiling. Shock

HiyaMeAgain · 08/03/2021 20:34

I enjoyed an unexpected day off by doing a food shop and 3 loads of washing

Therainisback · 08/03/2021 20:54

When I collect my granddaughter from nursery (twice a week - even in lockdown as my DD works) our route home goes through the park. It is quite a large park & had 3 toilet locations. I am a middle-aged, mother of 3 and when I need a wee, I need a toilet quite soon (unlike when I was young and could wait hours). Our park has 1 set of toilets open, which rotates on a random, unfathomable system. Today I opted for the wrong ones and had a tense 10 minutes trying to hurry along a 3 year old who likes to stop and inspect every small stone/twig/blade of grass.
I love the wonder that she sees in the world, but not today.Shock
I did make it in the end.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/03/2021 21:09

@Champagneforeveryone Do you have a de-bobbler or was your debobblement handcrafted?

MissConductUS · 08/03/2021 21:22

Welcome, @HiyaMeAgain and thanks for sharing your laundry news. Because laundry is so mundane it's a frequent topic on this thread.

We moved house on Friday so I spent the morning changing addresses. Our lovely postman has stayed the same and made ds2's say by delivering his parcel (a second hand Ralph Lauren cashmere jumper that he bought for £20!) Sorry, that is probably too exciting Blush Ordinary cat is not happy at being confined to the house and keeps miaowing and waiting pitifully at the doors. I bought her tuna for lunch to cheer her up.
@nydj I did the same with the pasta and id weighed it. I also put Brussel sprouts in and told ds1 it was cabbage

@Therainisback phew, thank goodness.

@Champagneforeveryone Good news on the car Smile did you use a recipe for the mushroom shawarma? It sounds delicious.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus sounds like recovery is going well. Don't overdo it by doing housework. Save your strength for getting chocolate Grin

EggyPegg · 08/03/2021 22:26

I am also interested in hearing about this de-bobbler as I have some trousers that need doing. I was considering using my razor just before I change the head.

On the topic of clothes, DH and I had our first Stitch Fix boxes arrived today. Stitch Fix is a website where you are allocated a personal stylist and you go through some pictures of clothes establishing if they are your style or not. Then your stylist sends you give items that they think you will like, you try it on at home abd send back anything you don't like.

Our stylists chose well for us and we have both decided to keep the entire contents of both boxes. It was an excellent way to start the week.

I have a recommendation code if anyone wants to try it.

Champagneforeveryone · 08/03/2021 23:12

therainisback that made tense reading! Glad you made it in the end Wink

prok I used DH's old beard trimmer with no guard on. It was pleasingly engaging, and DH keeps walking past the big mirror and muttering "hmm, like a new jumper" , which makes me chuckle Grin

ordinary it was a Gousto recipe. I love cooking but can thoroughly recommend Gousto as a way to try quick, new recipes with everything included.

HairyFeline · 08/03/2021 23:37

I tried my new laptop stand tonight and don’t have a sore neck now after working. Very pleasing.

Thank you for mention of a de-bobbler. It’s reminded me I have one and that’s tomorrow’s entertainment sorted now.

HelenaJustina · 09/03/2021 06:25

@EggyPegg that sound intriguing but also potentially very expensive! How often do the boxes arrive?

@Prokupatuscrakedatus glad to hear the recovery is progressing, did the chocolate feature a particular nut or generalised nuttiness?

@Champagneforeveryone what did you think to the interview? I flicked over once the 10pm news finished on BBC1...

EggyPegg · 09/03/2021 07:54

@HelenaJustina, you can set the frequency from monthly to ad hoc. We've booked the next one for in three months. Thought it was worth doing seasonally.

You can send back anything you don't want or find too expensive and all you're charged is the initial £10 you pay on ordering. This covers their return postage costs plus the benefit of trying on at home. If you buy, that £10 is taken off your total.

It's got a range of price points. It's not supermarket or Primark, but it doesn't have to be high end designer. They give you a list of 'where do you normally shop' and places like Boden, French Connection, Mango and Zara are on the list. There's also a 'how much do you spend on dresses/jeans/tops list with multiple options.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 09/03/2021 07:58

@HelenaJustina - It was the basic palm oil free hazelnut chocolate from Penny (think Aldi type chain).

@OrdinaryLife - I announced my housework decision to the family. DH is of the opinion that unlike our traditionally housewifey DGM /DGGM (housework, garden, field, children and complete control over the money that came in) modern housewives are conditioned to invent work. So he is OK with my decision, but thinks I won't be able to follow through.

@EggyPegg this is the de-bobbler here
