Good luck today prok!

Therainisback · 03/03/2021 07:48

I thought about getting up at 6.30 & going for a run. Then I went back to sleep. Much nicer but doesn't help to shift the spare tire that I've accumulated.
Only at work 1/2 day today, then childminding grandchildren.

Therainisback · 03/03/2021 07:48

Haven't seen Silkie on here lately, hope all is ok.

Squirrel26 · 03/03/2021 09:45

I have gone crazy with the internet shopping and ordered some nail scissors, a small spray bottle to spray my plants and some antibacterial cream for horses and dogs. Must get a grip. Who knows what I’ll buy next? (I really need a new kettle.)

sueelleker · 03/03/2021 10:18

@soddingkitten

Good luck tomorrow Prok.

Our first Laithwaites wine challenge arrived today. I had a glass of the red I opened on Sunday in one of my new stemless Dartington glasses that came with in the Laithwaites box. It is a classier version than drinking wine out of an Ikea tumbler, which I do now Sodding jumps up on the side tables in the living room (pale carpets 😱).

I've got a couple of those stemless glasses as well; the only trouble I have is that when they come out of the dishwasher the dimple in the base holds water-so I have to stand them upright to drain.
sueelleker · 03/03/2021 10:22

Oh, and I've got a Covid home test being delivered today. My husband has had a cough and chest problems for quite a while now (asthmatic-normally well controlled) ; spoke to the GP yesterday and got some antibiotics, and he suggested a test would be a good thing. We don't think he has Covid, as it's been going on for a while, but it doesn't hurt to check.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/03/2021 11:28

Morning all, I've not been around for a few days as my life has been far too exciting We ran out of toilet rolls and I bought new Seresto collars for the tribe, just as an example.

I'm on AL for a few days and have written myself a list. There are 28 items, and so far I have achieved 7 Its true that these are all of the "book chiropractor appointment" type that can be done while sat on my arse, rather than the slightly more vexing "clean car" or "dig allotment" type, but it was still terribly pleasing to do 7 little ticks.

I have had a good chat with DDogs about their food order. We decided they would give sprats a try, and opted for ox kidney rather than heart.

Good luck prok, hope the op goes well Smile

rabbitholes · 03/03/2021 12:03

The pigeon is not there.

EggyPegg · 03/03/2021 13:45

I had noticed Silkie's absence too. I saw her on a thread about holidays the other day, so she's still about it would seem. She's going by the moniker @Silkiechickscat now

Congratulations on achieving 1/4 of your tasks @Champagneforeveryone

I have been to work and am now waiting for my jacket potatoes to come out of the oven. I have a staff meeting this afternoon via Zoom.

I left a box of chocolates on my Head's desk this morning. He gave all the staff in school a box of chocolates at the end of last term, and yesterday sent an email out to say that to thank us all for our hard work, he was covering the tea and coffee kitty. So this morning I left the chocolate with an anonymous note to thank him.

EggyPegg · 03/03/2021 13:45

It changed my tag!
@Silkie

Squirrel26 · 03/03/2021 14:34

That’s really lovely @EggyPegg.

Continued my mad internet shopping spree and bought my horse his very own high vis. I shall have to teach him to look seriously at things when wearing it (preferable tbh to looking at things then turning round and fucking off, as has been known when faced with terrifying obstacles like A Gap In The Hedge, or A Cat. Hmm )

Nydj · 03/03/2021 16:48

I came here to muse about how the silkie family were doing too. I hope the rabbit and cat and chickens are also ok.
@EggyPegg, that’s lovely of you.
I wonder how @Prokupatuscrakedatusis getting on?
@Squirrel26, you forgot the important detail about your purchase - is it orange hi vis or yellow?
Well done @Champagneforeveryone on making progress on your list. I am become someone who only manages to do tasks outside of my day-to-day life if it is written down on a list. A tick is too tidy for me though, I like to do a strike though when I have completed a task.
Now I am also o wondering what has happened to the pigeon @rabbitholes. Please update us if it makes an appearance.

HelenaJustina · 03/03/2021 16:58

I’m regretting not going for a run at obscene o clock this morning as now I need to go now and it is rainy and freezing. Work this week is ridiculous... I’m on page 11 of 35 of risk assessment rewriting. Dull but necessary. Have skimmed all other news, am invested, honest!

Spudlet · 03/03/2021 17:47

DS seems to have been left out of something that the other class mums on the WhatsApp group are all gushing about and I am struggling not to post something passive aggressive about it... I won’t because what’s the point? And perhaps he’s just a day behind or something (it’s something that has been sent in the post). And DS is none the wiser, of course, and that’s how it will stay. But it hurts. Sad

forgetthehousework · 03/03/2021 18:53

Good evening everyone, hope you're all well
My day has been suitably boring, except for tripping over the lead of my sewing machine and pulling it off the table.
It's still working but the bulb blew about a minute after I started resewing so I think it must have been jarred by the fall - I know I was! Anyway I've changed the bulb but that means I'll have to get another spare. Wish I could remember where I got the last one from ....

@Prokupatuscrakedatus, I hope everything has gone well with you

EggyPegg · 03/03/2021 19:06

Oh @Spudlet, that's absolutely rubbish. Is it something that's been posted out by the school?

I have @HelenaJustina's ratatouille in the oven. It looks delicious and I'm very much looking forward to it. I omitted the oil from the recipe as I started Slimming World again yesterday. I finally weighed myself and it was worse than I thought. I am now a stone heavier than my preferred weight. No wonder none of my clothes are fitting right.

I'm listening to DH and the DC talk about the things they're looking forward to about our summer holiday, a Eurocamp parc we've visited before. It's so lovely to hear.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/03/2021 19:19

Oh spudlet that's awful Sad Hopefully it is innocent and his letter will arrive tomorrow.

eggy, I can picture helenajustina roving round her kitchen, vainly searching for her ratatouille Grin

I've just read an amusing statement from our local council accusing people of "frivolous tip runs". This it's what life's become, our frivolity now comes from a trip to the tip

Spudlet · 03/03/2021 19:20

@EggyPegg No, posted out by one of the other kids in the class, they had a party last term (an online one, which DS did attend) and several parents have been gushing about how lovely it was for their child to get something in the post and so on. No idea if everyone has had one of course - DH has told me off because he says I’m projecting my fears onto DS and he’s probably right. I just feel really shit for DS though. 🤷‍♀️

HelenaJustina · 03/03/2021 19:32

@Spudlet it’s crap even if your boy wasn’t the only left out. I withdrew from all class WhatsApps as it just wasn’t worth the aggro! Means I don’t get people reminding me about themed days and stuff but it’s worth having to be more organised for the lack of stress!

@EggyPegg I hope it is delicious, I admit I’ve never tried a diet version! I have just put the start of All-In-One jewelled Pearl barley with squash, pomegranate, watercress and feta in the oven (from the same book)

I felt better for my run, cleansed! Both mentally and physically (by the rain)

EggyPegg · 03/03/2021 19:58

Oh @Spudlet, that is rubbish. I was often excluded as a child and teen and so I have an ongoing anxiety about the same happening to my DC. I'm trying to rise above it and know (and teach them) that those that matter will never exclude you, but it's hard.

I have just finished the ratatouille. It was delicious! Definitely going to be a regular feature. Putting things like fresh basil and garlic in made such a difference. It's made me realise that I don't consider the seasoning of my meals enough.

Your tea tonight also sounds excellent Helena. I'm now off to buy that cookbook.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/03/2021 20:32

Good evening all,
back in my room. I spoke English while under Grin!
The owl is happy!

MissConductUS · 03/03/2021 20:44

It's good to see you back Prok! How did it go?

OP posts:
Squirrel26 · 03/03/2021 21:43

Welcome back Prok! You have missed...just some low key and mundane stuff. Grin

That’s not very kind, @Spudlet, and it’s not very kind of the people who’s kids have got things to go on about it.

I went a bit off-piste with the horse high vis: It is pink. Grin

EggyPegg · 03/03/2021 22:05

Welcome back Prok. Well done on keeping the owl happy.

@Squirrel26, I have a pink hi-vis vest. It makes a nice change from yellow or orange.

Sacked our loft conversion builder tonight after he'd delayed starting the work by a month, I messaged him to check that he'd be starting on Monday. No, and he couldn't be sure when he could start, but would give us a weeks notice. I politely stated that we would be going our separate ways at this point. So now we have the thrilling task of quote collecting again.

Nydj · 03/03/2021 22:23

Welcome back Prok - lovely to have you back!

I like the idea of a luminous pink hi-vis jacket - especially for a horse.
