What is the age gap between you and your partner?

Had a conversation with a friend about how age gaps seem far more rare these days, compared to in the past. People mainly seem to be marrying people within a couple of years of their age. Purely anecdotal. Just made me curious!

6 months but in the same school year (I'm older).

I know a lot of people who met their DHs/DPs at uni, so usually no more than 2 or 3 years difference.

2 days. We met online dating, where my age window was 10 years (and I think his was too), just happened upon the one who was exactly the same age!

DH is 1 year 9 months older.

Quite a big difference.

Four years, I'm the youngest.

DH is 8 years older than me

DP is 12yrs older

Only a couple of years but we know lots of very strong happy couples with large age gaps who have been together a really long time.

15 years, I'm early twenties, been together four years.

I’m 7 years older.

Chronologically he's two years older. Mentally I've grown up a lot in the last twenty years...whereas I'd put his maturation over this period at one third mine.

DH was 22 years older

He’s 8 years older than me.

Dp is 6 years older than me

Age gap for marriage partners (in England and Wales) has not changed significantly over last 100 years.

Over last 100 years: gap was @ 2 years.

Recently down to 1 year.

I was surprised. Somehow I though the gap would have been larger in ye olde days.

But no. 🤷‍♀️

Age gaps were larger in aristocratic or middle class marriages, but working class people tended to usually marry around their own age in their own areas.

I'm exactly four years older than my husband.We have the same birthday.
