What is the age gap between you and your partner?

Had a conversation with a friend about how age gaps seem far more rare these days, compared to in the past. People mainly seem to be marrying people within a couple of years of their age. Purely anecdotal. Just made me curious!

Nearly 8 years

7 years. I'm older.

Googled this.

Age gap for marriage partners (in England and Wales) has not changed significantly over last 100 years.

Over last 100 years: gap was @ 2 years.

Recently down to 1 year.

I was surprised. Somehow I though the gap would have been larger in ye olde days.

But no. 🤷‍♀️

DH is 3yrs 4mo older than me

I'm 12 years older than him.

My partner is 14 years older than me.

Age gaps were bigger in the past because men used to more often marry younger women - women in many cases would marry pretty quickly out of school, because securing a husband was the only way to get security.

Men on the other hand would often wait to marry when they were earning enough to support a family.

13 years - he is older.

DH is 3 years older than me.

I'm 22.5 months older.

15 years - he’s older.

DH is 6 months older than me.

We are within 2 years, but that wasn't really intentional, like I didn't purposefully look for someone close in age, we just happen to be. I am 1 year 7 months older than DH.

DH is 4 years older than me.

16 years- he's older. Getting married this year (hopefully if Covid allows).

He's 18 months older than me.

18 years

DH1: 3 weeks (I'm older).
Late DH2: just under 14 years (he was older).
Bloke-I'm-seeing: 6.5 years (he's older).

I'm 18 months older than DH.

I'm almost 7 years younger

There are five years and seven months between us, I’m the older one.
