I've had a rubbish few weeks (hasn't everyone?!) So today I decided to do something relaxing whilst ds2 was napping. I drew this for my sister's birthday and will probably make it into a card. I haven't drawn in a long time and no longer have my usual art supplies so had to use ds1 crayons Grin
Come and show me something that you're proud of, I'd love to see it or hear about it!

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

Lovely thread!

I've been teaching myself to sew. I'm not good yet, but I'm proud of myself for learning how to do a couple of things.

Wow, these look fantastic! How long did they take you to make? Loving the harry potter theme and your user name! A bunch for you Flowers

Have I killed the thread. :(
Absolutely not! It takes me a while to reply sometimes- I'm too busy being proud of everyone Wink

@Timeforatincture

I have recently learned how to crochet (well one stitch!) and have made a throw and a cushion. Very chuffed.
Wow, I love your crochet! That is one epic blanket. What is your next project going to be? I started a CAL (crochet-a-long) where they release the patterns in chunks, usually weekly. I found it great for building up my confidence and trying new stitches. Have these Flowers

Ooh I love this thread Grin
I made a unit for the space between the end of my bath and the wall. And I crocheted DH some ninja turtles which I apparently don't have a picture of!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/02/2021 19:38

Thanks, Flitwick. I'd guess they take about 45 minutes each, sometimes a bit quicker if I don't do anything wrong!

I can’t show you physically but I’m proud of my business. I started it with €100 and now 3 years later is unbelievably successful, so much so I could retire today and never think about money again.

Lovely thread Smile

TwoZeroTwoZero · 18/02/2021 19:57

I'm not going to post them but I am proud of some of my photos. I made a little book with a few and they came out really nice. Even my mam likes them!

I love this thread, thank you OP. Sick of hearing doom and gloom it’s lovely to see everyone’s creativity. I’ve started a photography course after years of wanting to do it but not having the time or access to. I’m loving the whole experience of learning something new. Here’s a photo from the weekend.
Are you on facebook? There's a lovely group on there specifically aimed at women photographers and is really helpful and supportive.

@CherryRoulade that is amazing! I’m currently on my first. Would love to know who your publisher is and what genre your books belong to

I love this thread. I started drawing in lockdown (last July) having believed I was in the "Cannot Draw For Toffee" camp. I now have a shop on Etsy, 1 commission done and 4 more waiting to be done. I drew this today - I first drew buildings/townscape about 10 days ago. I am super pleased with it.

This photo is beautiful - the colours are stunning.

Work related, with a specialist publisher. Giving name of publisher would be very identifying. Would only reveal to named/identifiable person via PM.

One available now, the next three being published over next couple of weeks. They’re on Amazon, Waterstones and Foyles - very exciting to see.

I’ve started on books five and six in series; I have a novel on go but that’s much harder to churn out so is put on back burner whilst these are produced.

I am designing crochet patterns for my business. When my twins were babies I made them a couple of bunnies and I’ve gradually developed the patterns to make them a bit classier!

So far I’ve got three bunnies, a rainbow music box and a vibrating rainbow toy... just need them to go to school now so I can take photos of the process and get the patterns written up! At the moment my shop only sells papercutting templates and I’m also working on loads of new designs for those to work on when they are back at school.

Did I mention I really need my twins to go back to school? 😬

I'm knitting a jumper for the Junior Engineer (which is very thick and blanket-like and which I have just finished the second sleeve of, now for the body!)
Painted the landing yesterday, and today we made one of those Cube storage things for his bedroom.
Because we flooded (and on a daily basis more or less) throughout December, we are at the joyful stage of having insurance money to replace things...

That is amazing! How did you learn to draw if you couldn’t before? I bought some online courses but I’m still really really crap 😬
JulietMadeChutney · 18/02/2021 21:12

@SinkGirl...I am not really sure to be honest.

It started it just as a thing to do with the children (we all had to draw 20 things...one a day...stuff like an eye, something you are scared of, some food, a superhero). Silly stuff. Then my sister joined in remotely. And she and I have a somewhat competitive relationship (friendly). So I started Youtubing a few things. Picked up a few hints and then it just snowballed from there.

I seriously went from barely being able to sketch to selling hundreds of pounds worth of prints of stuff. I am still a little shocked by it all to be honest Grin

I won't post a picture but I fixed my favourite bra. The underwire had started to escape and stab me in the boob so I patched and stitched it and it's good as new again.

That’s so amazing, I’m so jealous. I would love to be able to draw well and have tried so hard but I just can’t. I can cut insanely elaborate pieces of paper but I can’t draw a simple picture. It depresses me!

SingToTheSky · 18/02/2021 22:21

Wow juliet those are incredible! I thought the dog was a photo at first.

Sink those are awesome!

So much cool stuff on here. I’ve had an insanely shit few days and it’s nice to see so much positivity and pride 💖

SinkGirl · 18/02/2021 23:03

@JulietMadeChutney do you have any channels you’d recommend? Would love to give drawing another go!

ConsuelaHammock · 19/02/2021 01:51

I started crocheting last September.

I started with pencil (easiest) and video wise a couple from a chap called Lethal Chris - they were step by step videos talking you through drawing an owl and a panda. I just went through them pausing, drawing, pausing and got (for me then) some amazing results.

I then found Kirtsy Partridge videos - (not her paid ones, just her free ones). She does some useful "Dos and Don'ts" in eg drawing eyes/faces/hair/fur/feathers. I think this stopped me making some errors that I would then have to retrain myself out of. And then lots and lots of practice. I got friends to send me photos of their pets and produced a lot of pencil sketches last summer. Then I moved onto charcoal, and then pastels. Each time to be honest a couple of Kirsty Partridge videos have steered me in the right direction. She has a slightly annoying voice- but is very good at teaching.

Hope you enjoy giving it a go.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/02/2021 08:11

SinkGirl - love those little bunnies!

What a lovely thread! I am proud that I drew this Valentine’s card for DH, considering I literally never do any art, ever. But I’m pleased with how it turned out!

Love everything on this thread - well done everyone!

I've started branching out and trying different mediums with my art.

@julietMadeChutney love your work! Great that you've made Etsy work for you too. I find it quite hard work to get to the top of the listings. Do you do prints on demand of your art or do a big batch of printing to sell? I've struggled to find cost effective printers as well!
