Do not use gorilla glue in your hair

So I saw a tweet this morning from Gorilla Glue saying they never thought that they’d have to say this, but don’t use it in your hair.

I thought it was an odd tweet.

But then I saw the news article about the woman who ran out of hair product so used gorilla glue spray in her hair! Wtf was she thinking. It’s been over a month now and she still can’t get it out her hair.

She’s also suing Gorilla Glue as she says their instructions arent clear. Label says don’t get on skin or eyes but says nothing about hair! 🤷‍♀️😆😒🙄

Anyway, she has a load of tiktok followers now and has crowdfunded a decent amount.

The majority of posts on this thread are in very poor taste - sneering at a woman who has injured herself.

HmmSureJan · 11/02/2021 13:32

@MadameButterface

questioning her literacy levels feels patronising in the extreme.

really good job that I haven't at any point done that then isn't it

No, luckily I didn't say you did at any point Smile. Another poster did that while quoting you.
DiscombobulatedAf · 11/02/2021 13:34

It’s because there’s a hair gel called gorilla snot and she got the two confused. Easy mistake to make but she should have read the packaging. When she said she put gorilla glue in her hair I couldn’t see what the problem was until realised I got the two brands confused as well

People on this thread and real life have commented on the similarity to another hair product

Google images would seem to imply that they look very different with one clearly being a hair product (gorilla patting a quiff) and one clearly being a heavy duty adhesive not to be used on skin.

But people do stupid things occasionally. It's in their nature.

sneering at a woman who has injured herself.

I don't think anyone is sneering at her potential injuries/pain/suffering.

Thankfully she appears to have escaped relatively unscathed.

CoronaIsWatching · 11/02/2021 13:37

If it's glued to her scalp it should have naturally come off by now as the top layer of skin cells would have died after a month.

Janegrey333 · 11/02/2021 13:41

She is sueing because she did something insane? Okaaaaay.

Janegrey333 · 11/02/2021 13:43

Wait - there is an actual product called Gorilla Snot? Whaaaat?

But that's not what she says in her tiktok. She shows her empty can of got2B and says she ran out so grabbed the gorilla glue instead. Confused

Yep 🤮
nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 11/02/2021 13:54

I used to work in a hardware store and once had a man ask if plumbing lubricant was safe for personal use. There is literally an idiot for every product.

SpaceRaiders · 11/02/2021 13:58

I just saw on TMZ that she’s had a procedure to remove the glue. She’s got off lightly tbh. I was expecting them to shave her head completely.

Peacenquiet2 · 11/02/2021 14:05

I'm surprised at the amount of sympathy for this woman. I'm pretty sure my 6 year old would know not to use a glue spray in their hair, so surely she would have some idea how this would turn out as a fully functioning adult? Then to sue the company for her stupidity, I've no words

LookItsMeAgain · 11/02/2021 14:17

@tofuschnitzel - I was aware of the court case but I was unaware that it was because of this court case that "Warning - contents may be hot" were on lids of take away coffee/tea cups.
Would that explain why on a McDonalds "Hot Apple Pie" it says "Caution - Hot" -

I recently purchased a radio to have on in the background while I work from home. In the user guide it states "WARNING: DO NOT IMMERSE ANY PART OF THE APPLIANCE IN WATER". Now, tell me that someone

mootymoo · 11/02/2021 14:18

@MadameButterface

I still think it's completely wrong to sue because you spilt your hot drink. I lived in the USA and they would put cold water into the hot coffee if you wanted it black and the tea tasted revolting because they used 70 degree water to avoid lawsuits! My packet of cashew nuts says contains nuts on the packet, another thing that is silly - ingredients lists are important but not if the ingredients is on the packet!

LookItsMeAgain · 11/02/2021 14:19

Sorry - I pressed return before I had finished typing - In relation to the radio I bought where there is the warning about immersing it in water, tell me that the warning was because someone clever decided to try out listening to Handel's Water Music underwater??

Have you read the McDonald’s case. They were pouring the water at 150-170 degrees.

Nicknacky · 11/02/2021 14:25

@LookItsMeAgain Behind every warning is a story!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 11/02/2021 14:32

Can we stop repeating the wholly made up stuff?

SHE SAID she was in a hurry, had run out of her usual stuff and thought the Gorilla Glue would be fine.

She doesn't use a product with a similar name. She said she knew it was not a hair product.

She made a stupid decision. She fucked up and I bet she was quite scared and angry for a while.

Fortunately it has been fixed.

What she does with the go fund me stuff could include a decent wig, extensions etc. Or a donation to charity. Whatever she chooses.

But we need to take her at her word. She didn't mistake a hair product. She made a stupid decision. Which is why she made the Tiktok.

Why disbelieve her in an attempt to make her look less daft than she has already said she was?

MadameButterface · 11/02/2021 14:47

Can we stop repeating the wholly made up stuff?

That would be great, lots of people on here confidently slagging her off for bringing a frivolous lawsuit that she’s stated she will not be pursuing, and claiming that Mcdonalds paid out for the coffee lawsuit because of the claimant’s greed and stupidity rather than because they had been knowingly serving drinks at dangerously high temperatures for ten years and could not adequately justify why they continued this practice after 700+ consumers had already sustained burns.

It’s almost as if people just repeat things they’ve heard other people saying rather than thinking for themselves ¯\(ツ)

MustardMitt · 11/02/2021 14:58

@mootymoo the woman concerned was an elderly lady whose labia fused closed the heat was so much when she dropped her takeaway coffee in her lap. McDonald’s were well known for keeping their coffee far too hot - this woman only wanted her medics bills covered.

Anyway, this woman might not be an idiot but she sure behaved like one when she used this glue.

FreedomAnniversary · 11/02/2021 14:59

@TableFlowerss

I wonder if there is more to this than meets the eye?

Perhaps she has a cognitive deficit and didn’t understand the severity and consequences of using it? If so then this is extremely sad, poor soul.

If not, then there are no words for silliness.....

She does not, she owns and runs her own business which is a daycare centre.
CuriousaboutSamphire · 11/02/2021 15:00

Ye gods! I missed that one!

WhoWants2Know · 11/02/2021 15:00

People have brain farts and make poor decisions. I live near a low railway bridge that's the second most hit bridge in the UK because people go ahead and drive under it without thinking about the height of their vehicle.

A little further down the road is an area that floods and is under water half the year. And several times every year, emergency services have to drag out people who ignored the signs and sunk their car.

And wasn't it just two years ago that people were deliberately eating tide pods on camera?

It's hard enough being stupid without people making fun of you for it.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 11/02/2021 15:36

@LizBennet

Omg, how did that pan out for you? That could have been awful!

Luckily it didn’t glue my eyes shut 😬 They just wouldn’t budge for about 3 weeks, I took out loads of my lashes trying to remove them and then just had to leave them on, I looked semi surprised most of the time due to how they were sticking in all directions (they actually looked well for the first couple of days).
When they finally came off I had about 6 lashes on each eye, it took months for them to look even a little decent.

The thought of you having your eyes closed on al alternative universe is making me feel queasy! Confused
tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 11/02/2021 15:39

@AdobeWanKenobi

I glued my thumb once. I'd cut it, figured they used superglue at A&E and I had some, same job. And it would have worked, but for the stupidity that followed. I'd used a superglue that had an activator, so whilst the first part was fine spraying on the activator was where it all went wrong. That stuff burns.

I do still superglue my own minor cuts, I don't use the activator.

To be fair it was used in the war to patch up wounds.
