Do not use gorilla glue in your hair

So I saw a tweet this morning from Gorilla Glue saying they never thought that they’d have to say this, but don’t use it in your hair.

I thought it was an odd tweet.

But then I saw the news article about the woman who ran out of hair product so used gorilla glue spray in her hair! Wtf was she thinking. It’s been over a month now and she still can’t get it out her hair.

She’s also suing Gorilla Glue as she says their instructions arent clear. Label says don’t get on skin or eyes but says nothing about hair! 🤷‍♀️😆😒🙄

Anyway, she has a load of tiktok followers now and has crowdfunded a decent amount.

Stupid woman
I can't muster up any sympathy up for someone putting permanent/waterproof glue on the hair/head.

She's an absolute idiot

FlibbertyGiblets · 10/02/2021 21:22

HmmSureJan it is sad and distressing because a woman is in awful pain, she made a mistake and it might change her appearance permanently. I would say that is a sad and distressing event.

user127819 · 10/02/2021 21:26

I've read the article but there seems to be a crucial detail missing. Why did she use glue in her hair? It doesn't say that she mistook the bottle for something else. It just says she ran out of her usual product so used glue, as if that explains it. Confused

Many people use hair glue to hold down wigs, etc. There's a glue product called Gorilla Snot (I think) some people use. I wonder if she thought that was the sister product?

Because it said multi purpose on it, she's admitted she knows it wasn't to be used on skin but evidently thought hair wasn't covered by skin. Hmm She left it for a month before all this, why on earth would you not go to hospital the first time you tried to wash it out and it didn't come. Although why do it in the first place, I wouldn't go to a hardware store to look for hairspray. Unfortunately she's a victim of her own stupidity and is now trying to blame the company instead of accepting responsibility.
HoneysuckIejasmine · 10/02/2021 21:32

I'd be surprised if there isn't any known solvent that will dissolve it. The trouble is that it will most likely burn her skin too. Poor woman, there's not much else to do other than try.

dementedma · 10/02/2021 21:34

Did she use it on her eyelashes too?

Covidcorvid · 10/02/2021 21:34

I don’t think it will change her appearance permanently. She’s had her hair hacked off which is sad but it’ll grow back. She’ll either manage to get it dissolved or I guess when her hair grows a bit more there will be new hair which isn’t glued and they’ll be able to get scissors underneath the glue?

The sad thing is gorilla glue will now have to add this warning to their packaging.

They can't really be sued if they couldnt reasonably forsee something happening, now this lady has done this, it can be reasonably assumed it could happen again.

I hope this lady gets herself sorted out though, what a nightmare, even if it is if her own making.

I thought it was welded to her scalp, so even if it grows it won't have anywhere to go 😬
Valhalla17 · 10/02/2021 21:39

Shes an idiot and has really used her idioacy to her advantage by going on social media, crowdfunding and getting lawyers involved. It's her mistake and I have a feeling she knew what she was doing. People will do anything for some cash and 15mins of fame

Covidcorvid · 10/02/2021 21:40

Oh maybe it is welded to her scalp!

Faithtrusts · 10/02/2021 21:40

What's it coming to when products have to point out all the things they shouldn't be used for?

You don't pick up gorilla glue in the hair styling aisle in a drugs store, I can't see how they have any liability or can be sued for her absolute stupidity.

I hope she gets sorted and is well but there is. I one to blame for this decision but herself. Maybe next time she'll use pva glue instead or maybe even actually just buy something for actual use on hair..

toocold54 · 10/02/2021 21:47

Some people will do anything for their 5 minutes of fame and I think she may be one of them.

Nicknacky · 10/02/2021 21:49

How big would the bottles or boxes have to be if they needed to list everything you shouldn’t use it for!

ChronicallyCurious · 10/02/2021 21:51

She usually uses Got 2 Be Glued (showed it in her Tik Tok) so maybe she thought they were similar Confused

Idratherberude · 10/02/2021 21:52

Skin sheds so surely it will loosen with time. And with new hair growth, won't they just be able to cut the off hair off?

Longdistance · 10/02/2021 21:58

Maybe when they remove it they’ll find her single brain cell?

MaryGubbins · 10/02/2021 21:58

Yes surely, if you get glue on your skin it would gradually wear off as the skin dies and new skin grows from beneath?

Why is she in pain? From the glue or from trying to get it off?

HmmSureJan · 10/02/2021 21:58

Right. And yet she's still making videos - set to appropriate music no less and is probably near to world famous now with a nice fat crowd fund.
lovelemoncurd · 10/02/2021 22:03

I'm sorry but she's an idiot! A goofy teen I could kind of understand but a 40 year old woman! Come on!

BlueThistles · 10/02/2021 22:05

@dudsville

It's a distressing story if you look into it.

Agreed

it's not entertainment.. 🌺

Her scalp skin cells will be shedding continually underneath as the skin replaces itself, and fresh hair will be emerging from the follicles, so eventually the whole helmet of glued hair will be detachable and someone should be able to slide nail scissors underneath to free the whole thing.

But crikey, let that be a salutory lesson to anyone else thinking glue is an appropriate product for hair.
